Impairment of the Regulation of Gonadal Function in Channa punctatus by Metacid-50 and Carbaryl under Laboratory and Field Conditions

Regulation of gonadal function by gonadotropic hormone (GtH) and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) in Channa punctatus was significantly affected by nonlethal levels of Metacid-50 and Carbaryl. Under laboratory conditions, the time-dependent decrease in serum GtH level was higher in Carbaryl-treated fish than in Metacid-50-treated fish. The situation was reversed in the field, with a higher inhibitory effect of Metacid-50 being recorded. On the other hand, pituitary GtH content and GnRH activity were inhibited to a greater extent by Metacid-50 than by Carbaryl under both field and laboratory conditions. The present findings highlight that even low doses of Metacid-50 and Carbaryl are effective enough to cause reproductive damage, as evidenced by homeostatic unbalance of the reproductive regulatory system. 1990 Academic Press. Complexes of La （III）, Nd（III）, Gd（III）, Sm（III）, and Ce（IV） were synthesized with Schiff base [（3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hy- droxybenzyl） amino] acetic acid （H3L）. The ligand and its complexes were synthesized and characterized based on the following analysis： elemental analyses, FAB-mass, molar conductance measurements, magnetic measurement, UV-visible, IR, and NMR spectral studies. The spectral data revealed that the ligand acted as a neutral tridentate coordinating to metal ion through ONO donor sequence. Thermal degradation studies of the ligand and its complexes showed that the previous lanthanide complexes were more thermally stable than the ligand itself. The Schiff base and its complexes were screened for their antibacterial （Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus） and antifungal （Aspergillus flavus and Candida Albicans）.

Transpressional deformation has played an important role in the late Neoproterozoic evolution of the ArabianNubian Shield including the Central Eastern Desert of *** Ghadir Shear Belt is a 35 km-long,NW-oriented brittleductile shear zone that underwent overall sinistral transpression during the Late *** this shear belt,strain is highly partitioned into shortening,oblique,extensional and strike-slip structures at multiple ***,strain partitioning is heterogeneous along-strike giving rise to three distinct structural *** the East Ghadir and Ambaut shear belts,the strain is pure-shear dominated whereas the narrow sectors parallel to the shear walls in the West Ghadir Shear Zone are simple-shear *** domains are comparable to splay-dominated and thrust-dominated strike-slip shear *** kinematic transition along the Ghadir shear belt is consistent with separate strike-slip and thrustsense shear *** earlier fabric(S1),is locally recognized in low strain areas and SW-ward thrusts.S2 is associated with a shallowly plunging stretching lineation(L2),and defines^NW-SE major upright macroscopic folds in the East Ghadir shear belt.F2 folds are superimposed by^NNW–SSE tight-minor and major F3 folds that are kinematically compatible with sinistral transpressional deformation along the West Ghadir Shear Zone and may represent strain partitioning during deformation.F2 and F3 folds are superimposed by ENE–WSW gentle F4 folds in the Ambaut shear *** sub-parallelism of F3 and F4 fold axes with the shear zones may have resulted from strain partitioning associated with simple shear deformation along narrow mylonite zones and pure shear-dominant deformation in fold *** ENEstriking shear zones were subsequently active at ca.595 Ma,coeval with sinistral shearing along NW-to NNW-striking shear *** occurrence of upright folds and folds with vertical axes suggests that transpression plays a significant role in

In this paper,we present a three dimensional numerical investigation of heat transfer in a parabolic trough collector receiver with longitudinal fins using different kinds of nanofluid,with an operational temperature of 573 K and nanoparticle concentration of 1% in *** outer surface of the absorber receives a non-uniform heat flux,which is obtained by using the Monte Carlo ray tracing *** numerical results are contrasted with empirical results available in the open literature.A significant improvement of heat transfer is derived when the Reynolds number varies in the range 2.57×104≤ Re≤ 2.57×105,the tube-side Nusselt number increases from 1.3 to 1.8 times,also the metallic nanoparticles improve heat transfer greatly than other nanoparticles,combining both mechanisms provides better heat transfer and higher thermo-hydraulic performance.

Nb-doped SrFeO_(3−δ)(SFO)is used as a cathode in proton-conducting solid oxide fuel cells(H-SOFCs).First-principles calculations show that the SrFe0.9Nb0.1O_(3−δ)(SFNO)cathode has a lower energy barrier in the cathode reaction for H-SOFCs than the Nb-free SrFeO_(3−δ)*** experimental studies show that Nb doping substantially enhances the performance of the SrFeO_(3−δ)***,oxygen vacancies(VO)were introduced into SFNO using the microwave sintering method,further improving the performance of the SFNO *** mechanism behind the performance improvement owing to VO was revealed using first-principles calculations,with further optimization of the SFNO cathode achieved by developing a suitable wet chemical synthesis route to prepare nanosized SFNO *** method significantly reduces the grain size of SFNO compared with the conventional solid-state reaction method,although the solid-state reaction method is generally used for preparing Nb-containing *** a result of defect engineering and synthesis approaches,the SFNO cathode achieved an attractive fuel cell performance,attaining an output of 1764 mW·cm−2 at 700℃ and operating for more than 200 *** manipulation of Nb-doped SrFeO_(3−δ)can be seen as a“one stone,two birds”strategy,enhancing cathode performance while retaining good stability,thus providing an interesting approach for constructing high-performance cathodes for H-SOFCs.

The present study has been undertaken to evaluate the adsorption in batch mode of a disperse dye (Disperse Blue SBL) by poorly crystalline hydroxyapatite synthesized by coprecipitation between Ca(NO3)2and (NH4)2HPO4 reagents in aqueous solution at room temperature. The adsorption experiments were carried out to investigate the factors that influence the dye uptake by the adsorbent, such as the contact time under agitation, adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration, solution temperature, and pH. The experimental results show that the percentage of dye removal increases with increasing the amount of adsorbent, until the total discoloration. The adsorption isotherms follow the model of Langmuir with a high adsorption capacity. The adsorption was pH and temperature dependent.
