The utilization of digital picture search and retrieval has grown substantially in numerous fields for different purposes during the last decade,owing to the continuing advances in image processing and computer vision *** multiple real-life applications,for example,social media,content-based face picture retrieval is a well-invested technique for large-scale databases,where there is a significant necessity for reliable retrieval capabilities enabling quick search in a vast number of *** widely employ faces for recognizing and identifying ***,face recognition through formal or personal pictures is increasingly used in various real-life applications,such as helping crime investigators retrieve matching images from face image databases to identify victims and ***,such face image retrieval becomes more challenging in large-scale databases,where traditional vision-based face analysis requires ample additional storage space than the raw face images already occupied to store extracted lengthy feature vectors and takes much longer to process and match thousands of face *** work mainly contributes to enhancing face image retrieval performance in large-scale databases using hash codes inferred by locality-sensitive hashing(LSH)for facial hard and soft biometrics as(Hard BioHash)and(Soft BioHash),respectively,to be used as a search input for retrieving the top-k matching ***,we propose the multi-biometric score-level fusion of both face hard and soft BioHashes(Hard-Soft BioHash Fusion)for further augmented face image *** experimental outcomes applied on the Labeled Faces in the Wild(LFW)dataset and the related attributes dataset(LFW-attributes),demonstrate that the retrieval performance of the suggested fusion approach(Hard-Soft BioHash Fusion)significantly improved the retrieval performance compared to solely using Hard BioHash or Soft BioHash in isolation,where the suggested method provides an augmented

Gardner's syndrome(GS) is a rare syndrome with autosomal dominant inheritance, which is characterized by multiple intestinal polyps, dental anomalies, desmoid tumors, and soft tissue tumors. All gastrointestinal symptoms seen in GS are associated with the underlying familial adenomatosis polyposis and abdominal desmoid tumors, with the most common symptoms being anemia, lower gastrointestinal bleeding, abdominal pain, diarrhea, obstruction, and mucous defecation. To our best knowledge, no case of GS that has presented with gastrointestinal perforation and bleeding has ever been reported in the English language medical literature. A 37-year-old male who had been diagnosed with GS five years earlier was referred to our clinic for lower gastrointestinal bleeding. Despite the absence of a bleeding focus on conventional angiography, the patient was operated on with laparotomy, due to the persistence of both signs and symptoms of mild peritonitis. On the laparotomy, the patient was noted to have areas of perforation in the duodenum, splenic flexura, and midrectum. The third and fourth part of the duodenum, the proximal 15 cm segment of the jejunum, a 10 cm segment of the terminal ileum, the whole colon, and the upper and middle rectum were resected, and duodenojejunal side-to-side anastomosis and terminal ileostomy were performed. The histopathological analysis of the large mass measuring 30 cm × 20 cm was reported as a desmoid tumor. The pathological examination of the tumor foci detected in the colonic specimen revealed poorly differentiated adenosquamous carcinoma.

This paper deals with a design approach of a gait training machine based on a quantitative gait analysis. The proposed training machine is composed of a body weight support device and a cable-driven parallel robot. This paper is focused on the cable-driven robot, which controls the pose of the lower limb through an orthosis placed on the patient＇s leg. The cable robot reproduces a normal gait movement through the motion of the orthosis. A motion capture system is used to perform the quantitative analysis of a normal gait, which will be used as an input to the inverse dynamic model of the cable robot. By means of an optimization algorithm, the optimal design parameters, which minimize the tensions in the cables, are determined. Two constraints are considered, i.e., a non-negative tension in the cables at all times, and a free cable/end-effector collision. Once the optimal solution is computed, a power analysis is carried out in order to size the robot actuators. The proposed approach can be easily extended for the design study of a similar type of cable robots.

Support vector machines and a Kalman-like observer are used for fault detection and isolation in a variable speed horizontalaxis wind turbine composed of three blades and a full converter. The support vector approach is data-based and is therefore robust to process knowledge. It is based on structural risk minimization which enhances generalization even with small training data set and it allows for process nonlinearity by using flexible kernels. In this work, a radial basis function is used as the kernel. Different parts of the process are investigated including actuators and sensors faults. With duplicated sensors, sensor faults in blade pitch positions,generator and rotor speeds can be detected. Faults of type stuck measurements can be detected in 2 sampling periods. The detection time of offset/scaled measurements depends on the severity of the fault and on the process dynamics when the fault occurs. The converter torque actuator fault can be detected within 2 sampling periods. Faults in the actuators of the pitch systems represents a higher difficulty for fault detection which is due to the fact that such faults only affect the transitory state(which is very fast) but not the final stationary state. Therefore, two methods are considered and compared for fault detection and isolation of this fault: support vector machines and a Kalman-like observer. Advantages and disadvantages of each method are discussed. On one hand, support vector machines training of transitory states would require a big amount of data in different situations, but the fault detection and isolation results are robust to variations in the input/operating point. On the other hand, the observer is model-based, and therefore does not require training, and it allows identification of the fault level, which is interesting for fault reconfiguration. But the observability of the system is ensured under specific conditions, related to the dynamics of the inputs and outputs. The whole fault detection
