Functional outcome of surgical management of low mid-grade lumbar spondylolisthesis when considering the sagittal balance parameters preoperatively:a prospective study

Background:Prospective study objectives.A sagittal balance is a good tool to improve the functional outcome of spine spondylolisthesis surgeries,primarily noted that it has a good impact in deformity surgery and then applied to every spine surgery and the aim of this study is to evaluate its functional outcome when considered in preoperative planning for non-dysplastic low-and mid-grade spondylolisthesis ***:Forty patients diagnosed as low-or mid-grade non-dysplastic spondylolisthesis had undergone surgery at Cairo University after failed medical treatment had been evaluated preoperatively by measuring the sagittal balance parameters which include SVA,spinopelvic angles,lumbar lordosis,pelvic tilt,sacral slope,and pelvic incidence and then measure it along a follow-up period of 1 year postoperatively started from February 2018 and correlate it with functional outcome using Oswestry score(ODI)and *** of parameters has been estimated preoperatively by manual estimation and Surgimap application then applied during the ***:All patients were treated by surgical treatment through posterior transpedicular screw fixation with conventional or reduction screws and fusion±TLIF *** mean of lumbar lordosis and mean spinopelvic angles were increased in a statistically significant *** tilt was decreased in a statistically insignificant *** mean of pelvic incidence was not changed and statistically insignificant,and this is matching the fact that pelvic incidence is a constant *** sacral slope was increased in a statistically insignificant *** results showed that 37 had a statistically significant improvement in their ODI>20%at the last *** patients had a poor clinical outcome with ODI scorFinal results showed that 37 had a statistically significant improvement in their ODI>20%at the last *** patients had a poor clinical outcome with ODI score of>20%improvement,and we noticed that the le

Liver stiffness as a predictor of hepatocellular carcinoma behavior in patients with hepatitis C related liver cirrhosis

Background: Risk strati cation and prognostication of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) help to improve patient outcome. Herein we investigated the role of liver stiffness measurement (LSM) in the prediction of HCC behavior. Methods: Totally 121 na ve patients with HCC were included. HCC radiological evaluation and staging were done. LSM was measured using virtual touch quanti cation. Patients were divided into early to intermediate HCC (BCLC-0, A and B) and late HCC (BCLCC and D). HCC was treated according to the BCLC stage. HCC recurrence-free interval was estimated. Results: The mean LSM inside the tumor was signi cantly lower than the peri-tumoral area and the cirrhotic non-cancerous liver parts (P<0.001). In late HCCs stage, the mean LSM inside the tumor and in the peri-tumoral tissue was lower than the corresponding values in the early to intermediate HCCs stage (P<0.001). LSM inside the tumor and in the peri-tumoral tissue negatively correlated with serum AFP, tumor vascular invasion, and stage (P<0.05). The recurrence-free interval was directly correlated to LSM inside the tumor and inversely to LSM in cirrhotic non tumorous liver part. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the recurrence-free interval was signi cantly longer in patients with LSM inside the tumor of ≥1.25m/s compared to those with LSM inside the tumor of<1.25m/s. Conclusions: LSM can serve as a potential non-invasive predictor for HCC clinical behavior and the recurrence-free interval following loco-regional treatments.

Effect of ultrasonic irradiation and /or halogenation on the catalytic performance of γ-Al_2O_3 for methanol dehydration to dimethyl ether

Dimethyl ether(DME) is amongst one of the most promising alternative,renewable and clean fuels being considered as a future energy *** this study,the comparative catalytic performance of the halogenated γ-Al 2 O 3 prepared from two halogen precursors(ammonium chloride and ammonium fluoride) is *** impact of ultrasonic irradiation was evaluated in order to optimize both the halogen precursor for the production of DME from methanol in a fixed bed *** catalysts were characterized by SEM,XRD,BET and NH *** reaction conditions where the temperature ranged from 200 to 400 ℃ with a WHSV = 15.9 h-1was found that the halogenated catalysts showed higher activity at all reaction ***,the halogenated alumina catalysts prepared under the effect of ultrasonic irradiation showed higher performance of γ-Al 2 O 3 for DME *** chlorinated γ-Al 2 O 3 catalysts showed a higher activity and selectivity for DME production than fluorinated versions.

Production of dimethylether(DME) as a clean fuel using sonochemically prepared CuO and /or ZnO- modified γ- alumina catalysts

The catalytic conversion of methanol to dimethylether(DME)was studied over CuO/Al2O3,ZnO/Al2O3and ZnOCuO/Al2O3nanocatalysts prepared in presence or absence of ultrasonic *** catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),surface characterization method(BET),scanning electron microscope(SEM),H2-temperature programmed reduction(H2-TPR)and temperature programmed desorption of ammonia(NH3-TPD).The experimental results show that during catalytic dehydration of methanol to dimethylether,the activities of the CuO/Al2O3,ZnO/Al2O3and ZnO-CuO/Al2O3catalysts prepared using ultrasonic treatment are much higher than those prepared in absence of *** shows that the use of ultrasonication results in much smaller *** and XRD show that the ultrasonication increases the surface area and pore volume of the catalysts.H2-TPR profiles indicated that reducibility of the sonicated nanocatalysts is carried out at lower ***3-TPD shows that ultrasound irradiation has enhanced the acidity of the nanocatalyst and hence enhanced catalytic performance for DME formation.

Methanol conversion to DME as a blue fuel：The beneficial use of ultrasonic irradiation for the preparation of CuO/H-MOR nanocatalyst

Methanol conversion to DME was investigated over CuO /H-MOR nanocatalyst prepared by precipitation and /or by precipitation flowed by ultrasonic irradiation methods. BET,XRD,SEM,NH3-TPD and H2-TPR techniques were used to characterize nanocatalysts. The effective ultrasonication factors encountered during carrying out the dehydration of methanol on Cuo /H-MOR zeolite catalysts to produce dimethylether are studied in the present work. These factors include: the type of ultrasonication media,the ultrasonication time,and the fixed weight of the solid catalyst per the volume of the ultrasonication liquid media( Wcatalyst/ Vliquidratio). XRD showed that structure of H-MOR is not damaged even after it is loaded with CuO nanoparticles or with ultrasonication. H2-TPR profiles indicated that reducibility of sonicated CuO / H-MOR nanocatalyst is higher than non-sonicated catalyst. It is found that employing ultrasound energy for 60 min has the highest influence on the surface properties of nanocatalyst and its catalytic performance( activity and stability) of CuO / H-MOR catalyst. Surface morphology( SEM) of the sonicated CuO /H-MOR catalysts have clarified that methanol by itself used as an ultrasonication medium gives the best results concerning the homogeneity of particle sizes compared to the non-sonicated catalyst,where large agglomerates and non-homogeneous clusters appeared. Water used as a sonication medium showed many large agglomerates in addition to some smaller particles resulted in lowcatalytic activity. The different alcohols and( Wcatalyst/ Vliquid) ratio were examined to give precise correlation with the catalytic activity of the sonicated CuO / H-MOR zeolite catalyst. These findings certified that ultrasonication has a deep effect on the surface morphology and hence on the catalytic behavior of the dehydration of methanol to DME. NH3-TPD shows that ultrasound irradiation has enhanced the acidity of CuO / H-MOR catalyst and hence it's catalytic performance for

The Impact of the Superposition Coding Concept on Admission Control Strategy in OFDMA-Based Network

Admission control is a key mechanism to manage the increasing number of the simultaneous demanding services, requiring a desired Quality of Service(QoS) in a spectrum efficient manner. To address this issue,we investigate in this work, the use of the superposition coding technique to increase the system capacity through multiuser diversity exploitation. We propose a novel joint admission control and superposition coding formalism based on different utility functions:Opportunistic(OPSC), Great Fairness(GFSC)and Proportional Fairness(PFSC). Simulation results show the superiority of our proposed approaches over other by providing higher mean of served VoIP users and higher throughput while maintaining an average VoIP packet transmission delay lower than 0.6 ms.
