Implications of Climate Change on streamflow of a snow-Fed River system of the Northwest Himalaya

Air temperature and snow cover variability are sensitive indicators of climate change. This study was undertaken to forecast and quantify the potential streamflow response to climate change in the Jhelum River basin. The implications of air temperature trends （＋0.11℃decade） reported for the entire north-west Himalaya for past century and the regional warming （＋0.7℃/decade） trends of three observatories analyzed between last two decades were used for future projection of snow cover depletion and stream flow. The streamflow was simulated and validated for the year 2007-2008 using snowmelt runoff model （sRM） based on in-situ temperature and precipitation with remotely sensed snow cover area. The simulation was repeated using higher values of temperature and modified snow cover depletion curves according to the assumed future climate. Early snow cover depletion was observed in the basin in response to warmer climate. The results show that with the increase in air temperature, streamfiow pattern of Jhelum will be severely affected. significant redistribution of streamflow was observed in both the scenarios. Higher discharge was observed during spring-summer months due to early snowmelt contribution with water deficit during monsoon months. Discharge increased by 5%-40% during the months of March to May in 2030 and 2050. The magnitude of impact of air temperature is higher in the scenario-2 based on regional warming. The inferences pertaining to change in future streamflow pattern can facilitate long term decisions and planning concerning hydro-power potential, waterresource management and flood hazard mapping in the region.

Two different chemical methods, TEMPO-oxidation and nitro-oxidation, were used to extract carboxyl cellulose nanofibers(CNFs) from non-wood biomass sources(i.e., jute, soft and hard spinifex grasses). The combined TEMPO-oxidation and homogenization approach was very efficient to produce CNFs from the cellulose component of biomass;however, the nitrooxidation method was also found to be effective to extract CNFs directly from raw biomass even without mechanical *** effect of these two methods on the resulting cross-section dimensions of CNFs was investigated by solution small-angle Xray scattering(sAXs), transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and atomic force microscopy(AFM). The UV-Vis spectroscopic data from 0.1 wt% TEMPO-oxidized nanofiber(TOCNF) and nitro-oxidized nanofiber(NOCNF) suspensions showed that TOCNF had the highest transparency(> 95%) because of better dispersion, resulted from the highest carboxylate content(1.2 mmol/g). The consistent scattering and microscopic results indicated that TOCNFs from jute and spinifex grasses possessed rectangular cross-sections, while NOCNFs exhibited near square cross-sections. This study revealed that different oxidation methods can result in different degrees of biomass exfoliation and different CNF morphology.

In order to map the computing architecture and intelligent functions of the human brain on hardware, we need electronic devices that can emulate biological synapses and even neurons, preferably at the physical level. Beginning with the history of neuromorphic computation, in this article, we will briefly review the architecture of the brain and the learning mechanisms responsible for its plasticity. We will also introduce several memristive devices that have been used to implement electronic synapses, presenting some important milestones in this area of research and discussing their advantages, disadvantages, and future prospects.

Phishing is a type of cybercrime in which cyber-attackers pose themselves as authorized persons or entities and hack the victims’sensitive data.E-mails,instant messages and phone calls are some of the common modes used in *** the security models are continuously upgraded to prevent cyberattacks,hackers find innovative ways to target the *** this background,there is a drastic increase observed in the number of phishing emails sent to potential *** scenario necessitates the importance of designing an effective classification *** numerous conventional models are available in the literature for proficient classification of phishing emails,the Machine Learning(ML)techniques and the Deep Learning(DL)models have been employed in the *** current study presents an Intelligent Cuckoo search(Cs)Optimization Algorithm with a Deep Learning-based Phishing Email Detection and Classification(ICsOA-DLPEC)*** aim of the proposed ICsOA-DLPEC model is to effectually distinguish the emails as either legitimate or phishing *** the initial stage,the pre-processing is performed through three stages such as email cleaning,tokenization and stop-word ***,the N-gram approach is;moreover,the Cs algorithm is applied to extract the useful feature ***,the Cs algorithm is employed with the Gated Recurrent Unit(GRU)model to detect and classify phishing ***,the Cs algorithm is used to fine-tune the parameters involved in the GRU *** performance of the proposed ICsOA-DLPEC model was experimentally validated using a benchmark dataset,and the results were assessed under several *** comparative studies were conducted,and the results confirmed the superior performance of the proposed ICsOA-DLPEC model over other existing *** proposed model achieved a maximum accuracy of 99.72%.

submunitions should exhibit optimum terminal performance at target end when released from certain pre-determined height. selection of an optimum height of release of the submunitions depends on the terminal parameters like forward throw, remaining velocity, impact angle and flight time. In this paper,the effects of initial firing conditions and height of release on terminal performance of submunitions discussed in detail. For different height of release, the relation between range and forward throw is also established & validated for a number of firing altitude and rocket configurations.

The emerging pests and phytopathogens have reduced the crop yield and quality, which hasthreatened the global food security. Traditional breeding methods, molecular marker-based breedingapproaches and use of genetically modified crops have played a crucial role in strengthening the foodsecurity worldwide. However, their usages in crop improvement have been highly limited due to multiplecaveats. Genome editing tools like transcriptional activator-like effector nucleases and clustered regularlyinterspaced short palindromic repeats (CRIsPR)-associated endonuclease Cas9 (CRIsPR/Cas9) haveeffectively overcome limitations of the conventional breeding methods and are being widely accepted forimprovement of crops. Among the genome editing tools, the CRIsPR/Cas9 system has emerged as themost powerful tool of genome editing because of its efficiency, amicability, flexibility, low cost andadaptability. Accumulated evidences indicate that genome editing has great potential in improving thedisease resistance in crop plants. In this review, we offered a brief introduction to the mechanisms of differentgenome editing systems and then discussed recent developments in CRIsPR/Cas9 system-based genomeediting towards enhancement of rice disease resistance by different strategies. This review also discussed thepossible applications of recently developed genome editing approaches like CRIsPR/Cas12a (formerlyknown as Cpf1) and base editors for enhancement of rice disease resistance.

The comparative metabolite fingerprinting and bioactivity of different teas *** tea,oolong tea,white tea,orthodox black tea,and Cut/crush,Tear and Curl(CTC)black tea as compared to unprocessed tea leaves(GTL)were *** fresh tender tea shoots collected from single location were processed into different tea forms and brewed *** mass fingerprinting analysis using ultra high performance liquid chromatography ion mobility quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UHPLC-QTOF-IMs)revealed substantial variability of key metabolites among different tea *** analysis(Venn-diagram,Heatmap and PCA)has revealed significant variation in metabolites content among different *** and caffeine were identified and quantified in all infusions using high-pressure liquid chromatography analysis.2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)free radical scavenging assay,2,2′-azino-bis(3 ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid(ABTs)radical cation decolourisation assay and ferric-reducing antioxidant power(FRAP)assay unveiled significant antioxidant potential by all the *** results ofα-glucosidase inhibition by different teas showed positive effects in management of postprandial *** tea samples also unveiled significant results for nitric oxide inhibition in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages and cytotoxicity against A-549 and ***25 cancer ***,it has established that tea processing has substantial role on key metabolite composition and therapeutic potential of different tea infusions.

White grubs, Holotrichia rustica and Holotrichia mucida （Coleoptera： scarabaeidae） as pests of teak （Tectona grandis L. f.） seedlings

Field observations were carried out between 2002 and 2005 on bio-ecology of white grubs infesting teak （Tectona grandis Linn. f.） seedlings at Ramdongari Forest Nursery, Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra, Nagpur in central India. The study collected the data required for an integrated pest management strategy against the white grubs. The species damaging teak seedlings were Holotrichia rustica （Burmeister） and H. mucida Gyllenhal. The beetles （adults） of both these species began to emerge just after the pre-monsoon showers and when the relative humidity had risen rapidly over several days, but before the first monsoon rains. While the adults fed and mated on naturally growing bushes of Ziziphus jujuba, Z mauritiana, Z. xylopyra, Acacia leucophloea and A. catechu immediately after the emergence from the teak beds in the nursery, the immature stages （grubs） of both species fed on roots of the teak seedling, leading to plant death. This is the first report of （i） damage caused to teak seedlings by grubs ofH. rustica and H. mucida, and （ii） of *** and Z. mauritiana being hosts for the beetles ofH. mucida and H, rustica. It is also the first detailed report on the field bio-ecology of the H. rustica and H. mucida as major pests ofteak. White grubs are among the toughest-to-manage pests of economic importance and information presented here on the pest incidence and damage ofH. rustica and H. mucida is important to researchers and nursery field managers for the management of these pests on teak.
