Hemispheric asymmetries can be seen as one of the evolutionary adaptations that allowed the human brain to muster more complex cognitive processes than other *** this vein,the study published by Cheng et al.[1]presents a pivotal investigation of both the regional and connectional asymmetries within the inferior parietal lobule(IPL)in human,chimpanzee,and *** investigating 4 sub-divisions of the IPL across the three species,Cheng and colleagues showed that the macroanatomical and connectional architecture of the IPL became more asymmetric throughout the primate *** macaques show little to no structural asymmetries,chimpanzees display a more asymmetric architecture but with both leftward and rightward asymmetries in various *** contrast,the human IPL displayed the highest number of asymmetries among the three species with a clear tendency towards more *** evolutionary trend towards a more lateralized organization of the IPL may have accompanied an improved command of tool-use,stronger forelimb asymmetries,and the increasing complexity of communicative behavior.

Nanohairs, which can be found on the epidermis of Tokay gecko＇s toes, contribute to the adhesion by means of van der Waals force, capillary force, etc. This structure has inspired many researchers to fabricate the attachable nano-scale structures. However, the efficiency of artificial nano-scale structures is not reliable sufficiently. Moreover, the mechanical parameters related to the nano-hair attachment are not yet revealed qualitatively. The mechanical parameters which have influence on the ability of adhesive nano-hairs were investigated through numerical simulation in which only van der Waals force was considered. For the numerical analysis, finite element method was utilized and van der Waals force, assumed as 12-6 Lennard-jones potential, was implemented as the body force term in the finite element formulation.

Proper design of rock bolt support in underground mines is critical to avoid incidents, accidents and loss of production. The traditional design approach only considers the axial(tensile) capacity and this is clearly not the situation in situ, where a rock bolt is subjected to both axial and shear/bending loads which determines its overall performance and failure behaviour. To demonstrate and analyse the shear displacement in bedded roof, scaled physical models of underground excavation were created. From the models it was found that the shear displacement between the layers depends on the vertical roof deformation and thickness of beds. To analyse the effect of combined loading on rock bolt design for suspension and beam building models, analytical methods were used to calculate the required spacing of rock bolt for a given safety factor. Numerical models were then created using Rocscience RS2 software to establish the stresses on the rock bolt. The results show a significant reduction in safety factor for suspension as demonstrated in an example(reduced from 3.5 to 2.0) and beam building(2.0 to 1.36) when the rock bolt capacities are calculated considering the effect of combined loading as opposed to just the axial or shear loads.

Biogas production was investigated in this study as an alternative to wood as fuel using slurries of cow dung(T1),jatropha fruit exocarp(T2),cattle dung and jatropha fruit exocarp(T3)and cow dung,jatropha fruit exocarp with 10 g of iron filings(T4).The 1000 mL of slurry which included 50 mL of inoculum that compensated for the dead or weak micro-organism was made for each *** the end of five weeks,the volume of biogas collected from the samples T1,T2,T3,and T4 when added up,gave 77,154,145 and 586 mL,*** sample mixture of cow dung,jatropha fruit exocarp,and iron filings(T4),gave the highest yield of biogas production with an average weekly production of 59 mL/kg for four weeks and on the fifth week about six times emission of biogas was *** production rate of the biogas was rapid after the gestation period and the T4 emerged as the most substantial emission of all the samples producing 350 mL/kg on the fifth week.
