Experiences with a violence and mental health safety protocol for a randomized controlled trial to support youth living with HIV

Background:Safety protocols are an essential component of studies addressing violence and mental health but are rarely described in the published literature from Sub-Saharan *** designed and implemented a safety protocol within Project YES!(Youth Engaging for Success),which enrolled 276 youth living with HIV(ages 15–24 years)in a randomized controlled trial of a peer-mentoring intervention across four HIV clinics in Ndola,***:Youth who reported severe violence and/or suicidal thoughts on research surveys or during meetings with youth peer mentors(YPM)were referred to designated healthcare providers(HCP).We explored experiences with the safety protocol using:a)monitoring data of referrals,and b)in-depth interviews with youth(n=82),HCP(n=10),YPM(n=8),and staff(n=6).Descriptive statistics were generated and thematic analysis of coded transcripts and written memos ***:Nearly half of youth enrolled(48%of females,41%of males)were referred to a HCP at least *** first referral was most often for sexual violence(35%)and/or suicidal ideation/depression(29%).All referred youth aged 15–17 years and over 80%of referred youth aged 18+agreed to see a *** referred 15%for additional services outside the ***-nine youth,all HCP,all YPM,and all staff interviewed discussed the safety *** youth felt“encouraged,”“helped,”“unburdened,”and“relieved”by their meetings with HCP;some expressed concerns about meeting with *** safety protocol helped HCP recognize the need to integrate care for violence and mental health with medication adherence ***,YPM,and study staff raised implementation challenges,including youth choosing not to open up to HCP,time and resource constraints,deficiencies in HCP training,and stigma and cultural norms inhibiting referrals outside the clinic for emotional trauma and mental ***:Implementing a safety protocol within an HIV clinic-based research study is possible and beneficial for

Flexible Zn-based batteries have attracted increasing research interest as essential components of wearable energy storage ***,the advancement of flexible aqueous Zn-based batteries based on Co-Ni layered double hydroxide （CoNi-LDH） as the cathode material is hampered by their poor cycling stability and the corrosiveness of alkaline ***,CoNi-LDH nanosheets enriched with H vacancies (CoNi-LDH（v）) were constructed on a flexible carbon cloth （CC） substrate via electrochemical deposition and *** Zn-based battery comprising CoNi-LDH（v）@CC as the cathode exhibited highly reversible conversion reactions and stable operation in 3 M ZnSO4electrolyte （pH=4）.The battery delivered an excellent specific capacity (225 mA h g-1,0.26 mA h cm-2),acceptable cycling stability（53.9%,900 cycles）,and high discharging *** abundant H vacancies served as active sites for the reversible intercalation of Zn2+and the extravasation of NO3-generated channels and space for Zn2+transport and storage,together enabling an excellent Zn2+storage ***,a sandwich-structured solid-state CoNi-LDH（v）@CC//Zn@CC battery was fabricated and was found to exhibit a noteworthy electrochemical performance and mechanical *** a proof of concept,the unencapsulated battery powered a digital watch under various deformation conditions and operated stably for 80 ***,the flexible battery displayed outstanding customizability,maintaining an open-circuit voltage of 1.42 V even after being cut *** proposed engineering strategy contributes to the realization of textiles with truly wearable energy-storage devices.

Exploration of nature-based biomimetic approach in landscape architectural design: parametric study of candelabra model design

This research provides an exploration of a biomimetic approach in the process of designing a candelabra model using linear shaped leaves of a Bell *** design process described in this research contains two steps:biological and *** the first biological step,a proper model for the creation of an urban element was found from nature in a Bell flower(Campanula persicifolia L.).The upper leaves of the selected plant,which are small with a linear spear and sharpening at the top,were chosen for the modeling *** second step included applying two geometrical methods,i.e.,Voronoi diagrams and Delaunay triangulation.A geometrical leaf form of the selected plant species and the modeling process were obtained using aparametric modeling software,*** different Blender plug-ins and modifiers,Delaunay triangulation and Voronoi diagram were implemented by marking the starting points on the leaf form in the image data source,adjusting the Delaunay triangulation parameters,and creating Voronoi diagrams in which the Voronoi points were located at the shortest distance from the edges of the Voronoi ***,a three dimensional model of a candelabra was developed through this study.

Influence of carbide ceramic reinforcements in improving tribological properties of A333 graded hybrid composites

Aluminium hybrid functionally graded metal matrix composites(FGMMCs),meet growing demands for supreme tribo-mechanical performance in automotive and aviation *** research experimentally compares the influence of carbide ceramics(B_(4)C,SiC,TiC)as reinforcements,in improving reciprocating tribology performance and mechanical strength of A333 hybrid composites against *** cylindrical samples of A333/6 wt%B_(4)C/4 wt%TiC and A333/6 wt%B_(4)C/4 wt%SiC hybrid FGMMCs were developed using horizontal centrifugal *** analysis on both composites revealed increasing ceramic gradient distribution towards outer composite *** rich zone of A333/B_(4)C/SiC hybrid FGMMC showed maximum micro-hardness(198.9 HV)and tensile strength(267.9 MPa).Elemental mapping confirmed effective distribution of ceramics and detected elemental composition of both *** rich layer of A333/B_(4)C/SiC hybrid FGMMC exhibited improved wear resistance in comparison with all three layers of A333/B_(4)C/TiC hybrid FGMMC and ***-body abrasion and tribo-chemical wear were the predominant mechanisms revealed for both composites during worn surface analysis.

Gravity is not a fundamental force;in a nut-shell, it is the result of a non-commutative interaction of the “electric” (i.e. Coulomb type) due to fractional charges of the proton and neutron in U(2)-gauge theory, but which have no structure in U(1)-gauge theory, being neutral in itself (neutron), or when compensated by the electronic cloud (proton). This is no longer true at the SU(2) Electroweak Theory level, once spherical 3D-symmetry is broken to a finite Platonic group of symmetry within it Γ → SU(2). The fine splitting of energy levels due to the quark structure (frame basis in SU(2)) of the electric charge can be experimentally controlled using a MASER to invert the population and orient the nuclei the right way to reduce and turn off Gravity.

Finite Element Analysis of Ceramic Coatings under Spherical Indentation with Metallic Interlayer: PartⅠUncracked Coatings

Spherical indentation of ceramic coatings with metallic interlayer was performed by means of axisymmetric finite element analysis （FEA）. Two typical ceramic coatings with relatively high and low elastic modulus deposited on aluminum alloy and carbon steel were considered. Various combinations of indenter radius-coating thickness ratios and interlayer thickness-coating thickness ratios were used in the modeling. The effects of the interlayer, the coating and the substrate on the indentation behavior, such as the radial stress distribution along the coating surface as well as the coating interface, and the plastic deformation zone evolution in the substrate were investigated in connection with the above mentioned ratios. The coating cracking dominant modes were also discussed within the context of the peak tensile stresses on the coating surface and on the coating interface.

Element Analysis of Instrumented Sharp Indentations into Pressure-sensitive Materials

Finite element analysis was carried out to investigate the conical indentation response of elastic-plastic solids within the framework of the hydrostatic pressure dependence and the power law strain hardening. A large number of 40 difierent combinations of elasto-plastic properties with n ranging from 0 to 0.5 and σy/E ranging from 0.0014 to 0.03 were used in the computations. The loading curvature C and the average contact pressure Pave were considered within the concept of representative strains and the dimensional *** functions associated with these two parameters were formulated for each studied value of the pressure sensitivity. The results for pressure sensitive materials lie between those for Von Mises materials and the elastic model.

Calcium-sensing receptor: A new target for therapy of diarrhea

Management of acute diarrhea remains a global challenge, particularly in resource-limiting countries. Oral rehydration solution (ORS), a passive rehydrating therapy developed approximately 40 years ago, remains the mainstay treatment. Although ORS is effective for hydration, since it does not inhibit enterotoxin-mediated excessive secretion, reduced absorption and compromised barrier function - the primary mechanisms of diarrhea, ORS does not offer a rapid relief of diarrhea symptom. There are a few alternative therapies available, yet the use of these drugs is limited by their expense, lack of availability and/or safety concerns. Novel anti-diarrheal therapeutic approaches, particularly those simple affordable therapies, are needed. This article explores intestinal calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR), a newly uncovered target for therapy of diarrhea. Unlike others, targeting this host antidiarrheal receptor system appears “all-inclusive”: it is anti-secretory, pro-absorptive, anti-motility, and anti-inflammatory. Thus, activating CaSR reverses changes of both secretory and inflammatory diarrheas. Considering its unique property of using simple nutrients such as calcium, polyamines, and certain amino acids/oligopeptides as activators, it is possible that through targeting of CaSR with a combination of specific nutrients, novel oral rehydrating solutions that are inexpensive and practical to use in all countries may be developed.

Fixed-time-synchronized control: a system-dimension-categorized approach

This study addresses the fixed-time-synchronized control problem of perturbed multi-input multioutput(MIMO) systems. In the task of fixed-time-synchronized control, different dimensions of the output signal in MIMO systems are required to reach the desired value simultaneously within a fixed time *** MIMO system is categorized into two cases: the input-dimension-dominant and the state-dimensiondominant cases. The classification is defined according to the dimension of system signals and, more importantly, the capability of converging at the same time. For each kind of MIMO system, sufficient Lyapunov conditions for fixed-time-synchronized convergence are explored, and the corresponding robust sliding mode controllers are designed. Moreover, perturbations are compensated using the super-twisting technique. The brake control of the vertical takeoff and landing aircraft is considered to verify the proposed method for the input-dimension-dominant case, which shows the essential advantages of decreasing the energy consumption and the output trajectory length. Furthermore, comparative numerical simulations are performed to show the semi-time-synchronized property for the state-dimension-dominant case.
