The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron collider,as standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

clinical course and prognostic factors of hepatorenal syndrome:a retrospective single-center cohort study

AIM: To investigate clinical and biochemical features of hepatorenal syndrome(HRS), to assess short and long- term survival evaluating potential predictors of early mortality. METHODS: Sixty-two patients with liver cirrhosis and renal failure, defined as a serum creatinine value > 1.5 mg/dL on at least two measurements within 48 h, admitted to our tertiary referral Unit from 2001 to 201, were retrospectively reviewed. Among them, 33 patients(53.2%) fulfilled the revised criteria of the International Ascites club for the diagnosis of HRS. Twenty-eight patients were treated with combinations of terlipressin and albumin, two with dopamine and al- bumin, and three with albumin alone. No patients were suitable for liver transplantation. complete response was defined as normalization of creatinine levels to less than 1.5 mg/dL, partial response as a decrease of at least 50% but not to less than 1.5 mg/dL, no response as no reduction in creatinine or a decrease of less 50% compared to pre-treatment values. All of the patients were followed up for at least 1 year until January 2013. RESULTS: HRS type 1 was diagnosed in 15 patients(45.5%). Hepatitis c virus infection was the primary etiology(69.6%), followed by alcohol(15.2%), and cryptogenesis(15.2%). complete response to therapy was obtained in only 3 cases(9.1%) and partial re- sponse in 7 patients(21.2%). Median survival was 30 d(range: 10-274) without significant differences be- tween type 1 and type 2 HRS. By univariate analysis, child-Pugh class c(P = 0.009), presence of hepatocel- lular carcinoma(P = 0.04), low serum sodium(P = 0.02), high bilirubin values(P = 0.009) and high Model for End-stage Liver Disease(MELD) score(P = 0.03) were predictive factors of 30-d mortality. By multivari- ate analysis, only serum sodium core > 27(OR = 18.72; P = 0.01) were independently associated with a survival of less than one month. cONcLUSION: HRS still has a poor prognosis, even when va

Immune response to hepatitis B virus vaccine in celiac subjects at diagnosis

AIM To evaluate hepatitis B virus(HBV) vaccine response and correlation with human leukocyte antigens(HLA) and/or gluten intake in celiac patients at *** Fifty-one patients affected by celiac disease, diagnosed at the Department of Pediatrics of the University of catania(Italy), were recruited. All patients were tested at admission for immunization against HBV, according to findings from analysis of quantitative HBV surface antibody(anti-HBs). The anti-HBs titer was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Following the international standards, subjects with antibody titer ce of responders and non-responders among celiac subjects and the distribution of immunization for age were examined. In addition, the prevalence of responders and non-responders was assessed for correlation to HLA and clinical features at diagnosis of celiac *** The entire study population was divided into three groups according to age: 24 patients aged between 0to 5.5 years(48.9%, group A); 16 aged between 5.5 and 9.5 years(30.61%, group B); 9 aged between 9.5 and 17 years(18.75%, group c). comparison of the percentage of responders and non-responders between the youngest and the oldest age group showed no significant difference between the two groups(P > 0.05). With regard to the HLA haplotype, comparison of the distribution of vaccination response showed no statistically significant difference between the different genotypes(homozygosity for the HLADQ2 haplotype compared with HLADQ2/DQ8 heterozygosity or other haplotypes; P > 0.05). Moreover, distribution of the responders according to clinical features of celiac disease showed no statistically significant differences(P > 0.05).cONcLUSION This prospective study confirmed the lower percentage of response to HBV vaccine in celiac subjects. However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear and further studies are needed.

The environmental risks associated with genetically-engineered( GE) organisms have been controversial,and so have the models for the assessment of these risks. We propose an ecologically-based environmental risk assessment( ERA) model that follows the 1998 USEPA guidelines,focusing on potential adverse effects to biological diversity. The approach starts by( 1) identifying the local environmental values so the ERA addresses specific concerns associated with local biological diversity. The model simplifies the indicator endpoint selection problem by( 2) classifying biological diversity into ecological functional groups and selecting those that deliver the identified environmental values.( 3) All of the species or ecosystem processes related to the selected functional groups are identified and( 4) multi-criteria decision analysis( McDA) is used to rank the indicator endpoint entities,which may be species or ecological processes. McDA focuses on those species and processes that are critical for the identified ecological functions and are likely to be highly exposed to the GE organism. The highest ranked indicator entities are selected for the next step.( 5) Relevant risk hypotheses are identified. Knowledge about the specific transgene and its possible environmental effects in other countries can be used to assist development of risk hypotheses.( 6) The risk hypotheses are ranked using McDA with criteria related to the severity of the potential risk. The model emphasizes transparent,expert-driven,ecologically-based decision-making and provides formal methods for completing a screening level-ERA that can focus ERA on the most significant concerns. The process requires substantial human input but the human capital is available in most countries and regions of the world.

Structure and floristic composition of tree stand in tropical forest in the Eastern Ghats of northern Andhra Pradesh, India

The changes in species composition, abundance and forest stand structure were analyzed across altitudinal regimes in tropical forests of Eastern Ghats of northern Andhra Pradesh, India. Three 1-ha plots were established with one each in low, medium and high altitudes. A total of 153 species, 2129 stems （709 stems .ha^-1） of ≥10 cm girth were enumerated. Species richness and diversity pattern varied along altitudinal gradient and increased with the altitude. Species richness varied from 52 to 110 species-ha^-1 and stand density from 639 to 836 ***^-1 with average basal area of 34.39 m^***^-1. Shannon-Wiener index （H＇） ranged from 4.55 to 5.17. Low altitude （i.e., Site 1） is dominated byXylia xylocarpa （59.22） and Lagerstroemia parviflora （23.90）, medium altitude （i.e., Site 2） by Xylia xylocarpa （45;50） Bursera serrata （17.29）, and high altitude （i.e., Site 3） has Schleichera oleosa （28.25） Pterocarpus marsupium （26.55） as predominant species. Taxonomically, Rubiaceae （12 species）, Fabaceae （12）, Euphorbiaceae （11）, Rutaceae （7） and Lanraceae （7） were dominant families. Density-wise, Fabaceae, combretaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Anacardiaceae and Myrtaceae were abundant. Thus, conservation assessment based on altitudinal regimes and the information on species structure and function can provide baseline information for monitoring and sustaining the biodiversity.

The Italian ZEcOMIX Platform: cO<sub>2</sub>capture on calcined Dolomite in Fluidized Bed carbonator Unit

The Italian Zecomix platform is a gasification pilot-scale plant integrated ccS technology, whose flexibility allows operating each unit alone. For quantitative analysis of the gaseous species an analytical system based on commercially available instruments and sampling lines at various points of plant was properly designed. A Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometric (FTIR) with portable low resolution and gas chromatographic tools were used. The fluidized bed calciner/ carbonator unit was fed with naturally occurring dolomite (about 300 kg) from quarry of Biella (Italy) and tested for cO2 capture. carbonation reaction was conducted at around 700°c under simulated reformed synthesis gas containing 30% of cO2. Based on Gc and FTIR results a cO2 retention better than 70% was achieved. The application of grain model establishing the carbonation reaction was kinetically controlled within 50 seconds and the reaction rate constant was comparable to that obtained at laboratory-scale level by thermogravimetric analyzer.

Thermal decomposition and kinetics of plastic bonded explosives based on mixture of HMX and TATB with polymer matrices

This work describes thermal decomposition behaviour of plastic bonded explosives(PBXs) based on mixture of 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocane(HMX) and 2,4,6-triamino-1,3,5-trinitrobenzene(TATB)with Viton A as polymer binder. Thermal decomposition of PBXs was undertaken by applying simultaneous thermal analysis(sta) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSc) to investigate influence of the HMX amount on thermal behavior and its kinetics. Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) indicated that the thermal decomposition of PBXs based on mixture of HMX and TATB was occurred in a three-steps. The first step was mainly due to decomposition of HMX. The second step was ascribed due to decomposition of TATB, while the third step was occurred due to decomposition of the polymer matrices. The thermal decomposition % was increased with increasing HMX amount. The kinetics related to thermal decomposition were investigated under non-isothermal for a single heating rate measurement. The variation in the activation energy of PBXs based on mixture of HMX and TATB was observed with varying the HMX amount. The kinetics from the results of TGA data at various heating rates under non-isothermal conditions were also calculated by Flynn—Wall—Ozawa(FWO) and Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose(KAS)methods. The activation energies calculated by employing FWO method were very close to those obtained by KAS method. The mean activation energy calculated by FWO and KAS methods was also a good agreement with the activation energy obtained from single heating rate measurement in the first step decomposition.
