Objective: This study aimed to assess the relationship of cognition, depression and anxiety to glycemic control in elders with diabetes. DM is a chronic medical condition. Its control depends on adherence to medical therapy and making decisions related to lifestyle changes. This decision making capacity is affected by many factors including cognition and psychological status. Design: It was a case control study. Setting: It was done in Ain Shams University Hospital inpatients and DM outpatient clinic, Cairo, Egypt. Participants: Of the one hundred diabetic patients aged ≥ 60 years, 50 had Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) ≥ 7.5 (cases) and 50 had Hb A1c 7.5 (controls). Measurements: Cognition was assessed using minimental status examination (MMSE) test, Mattis Organic Mental Syndrome Screening Examination (MOMSSE) and Cambridge Cognitive Examination (CAMCOG) test. Geriatric depression scale-15 (GDS-15) was performed for depression assessment, while anxiety was assessed by DSM IV criteria. Laboratory investigations included: fasting blood sugar (FBS), post-prandial blood sugar (PPBS), glycated haemoglobin (Hb A1c), low density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), total cholesterol, and triglycerides (TG). Results: Significant difference was found between the two groups regarding scores of cognitive tests: MMSE score (p = 0.004);below average (p = 0.02) and average scores (p = 0.05) of MOMSSE;CAMCOG score (p = 0.015);and CAMCOG divided items score including orientation (p = 0.003), comprehension (p = 0.005), expression (p = 0.020), attention (p = 0.002), and abstraction (p = 0.008) as well as depression screening scores (P = 0.002). Using Receiver Operating Characteristic, CAMCOG had better sensitivity and MOMSSE had better specificity. Conclusion: Cognitive impairment was associated with poor glycemic control, and impairment in attention and abstraction, related to executive function, functions were found to be associated with poor glycemic control. Textile dyes are dramatic sources of pollution and non-aesthetic disturbance of aquatic life and therefore represent a potential risk of bioaccumulation that can affect living *** is imperative to reduce or eliminate these dyes from liquid effluents with innovative biomaterials and ***,this research aims to highlight the performance of Capparis spinosa L waste-activated carbon(CSLW-AC)adsorbent to remove crystal violet(CV)from an aqueous *** mechanism of CV adsorption on CSLW-AC was evaluated based on the coupling of experimental data and different characterization *** efficiency of the CSLW-AC material reflected by the equilibrium adsorption capacity of CV could reach more than 195.671 mg·g^(–1) when 0.5 g·L^(–1) of CSLW-AC(Particle size≤250μm)is introduced into the CV of initial concentration of 100 mg·L^(–1) at pH 6 and temperature 65℃ and in the presence of potassium ions after 60 min of contact time according to the one parameter at a time *** adsorption behavior of CV on CSLW-AC was found to be consistent with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Frumkin's linear isothermal *** thermodynamic aspects indicate that the process is physical,spontaneous,and *** optimization of the process by the Box Behnken design of experiments resulted in an adsorption capacity approaching 183.544 mg·g^(–1)([CV]=100 mg·L^(–1) and[CSLW-AC]=0.5 g·L^(–1) at 35 min).The results of the Lactuca sativa seeds germination in treated CV(70%),adsorbent solvent and thermal regeneration(more than 5 cycles),and process cost analysis(1.0484 USD·L^(–1))tests are encouraging and promising for future exploitations of the CSLW-AC material in different industrial fields.

A novel magnetic hydrogel loaded with graphene oxide(GO)was developed in this ***,GO was prepared from bagasse through a single step via oxidation in the presence of ferrocene under muffled atmospheric conditions,followed by the loading of different amounts of magnetite onto GO via co-precipitation reaction of iron onto GO ***,the 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propane sulfonic acid was grafted onto carboxymethyl cellulose in the presence of magnetite GO and N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide as crosslinker yielded *** structure,morphological,and thermal behavior of the prepared hydrogels were *** addition,the adsorption performance of Ni(Ⅱ)ions from aqueous media by the prepared hydrogels was investigated as a function of temperature,time,and concentration of adsorbate in a batch *** results demonstrated a remarkable enhancement in the adsorption process of Ni(Ⅱ)(Removal efficiency=98.82%).All isotherms were found to fit the Langmuir model *** adsorption properties of both magnetic GO and magnetic hydrogel showed promising properties as green and cheap adsorbents.

Transpressional deformation has played an important role in the late Neoproterozoic evolution of the ArabianNubian Shield including the Central Eastern Desert of *** Ghadir Shear Belt is a 35 km-long,NW-oriented brittleductile shear zone that underwent overall sinistral transpression during the Late *** this shear belt,strain is highly partitioned into shortening,oblique,extensional and strike-slip structures at multiple ***,strain partitioning is heterogeneous along-strike giving rise to three distinct structural *** the East Ghadir and Ambaut shear belts,the strain is pure-shear dominated whereas the narrow sectors parallel to the shear walls in the West Ghadir Shear Zone are simple-shear *** domains are comparable to splay-dominated and thrust-dominated strike-slip shear *** kinematic transition along the Ghadir shear belt is consistent with separate strike-slip and thrustsense shear *** earlier fabric(S1),is locally recognized in low strain areas and SW-ward thrusts.S2 is associated with a shallowly plunging stretching lineation(L2),and defines^NW-SE major upright macroscopic folds in the East Ghadir shear belt.F2 folds are superimposed by^NNW–SSE tight-minor and major F3 folds that are kinematically compatible with sinistral transpressional deformation along the West Ghadir Shear Zone and may represent strain partitioning during deformation.F2 and F3 folds are superimposed by ENE–WSW gentle F4 folds in the Ambaut shear *** sub-parallelism of F3 and F4 fold axes with the shear zones may have resulted from strain partitioning associated with simple shear deformation along narrow mylonite zones and pure shear-dominant deformation in fold *** ENEstriking shear zones were subsequently active at ca.595 Ma,coeval with sinistral shearing along NW-to NNW-striking shear *** occurrence of upright folds and folds with vertical axes suggests that transpression plays a significant role in

Objective:To investigate the relationship between triterpenoid saponin content and antioxidant,antimicrobial,and α-glucosidase inhibitory activities of 70%ethanolic,butanolic,aqueous,supernate and precipitate extracts of Juglans regia ***:Triterpenoid saponins of different Juglans regia leaf extracts were measured by the vanillin *** activity was evaluated against DPPH and ABTS free *** also assessed α-glucosidase inhibitory and antimicrobial activities of the leaf ***’s correlation coefficient was evaluated to determine the correlation between the saponin content and biological ***:The butanolic extract was most effective against DPPH with an IC50of 6.63μg/mL,while the aqueous extract showed the highest scavenging activity against ABTS free radical with an IC50of 42.27μg/***’s correlation analysis indicated a strong negative correlation (r=-0.956) between DPPH radical scavenging activity (IC50) and the saponin content in the samples *** addition,the aqueous extract showed the best α-glucosidase inhibitory activity compared with other *** the extracts had fair antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis,Escherichia coli,and Klebsiella pneumoniae except for the aqueous ***:Juglans regia extracts show potent antioxidant,antimicrobial,and α-glucosidase inhibitory *** is a correlation between saponin levels in Juglans regia leaf extracts and the studied ***,additional research is required to establish these relationships by identifying the specific saponin molecules responsible for these activities and elucidating their mechanisms of action.

Objective:To investigate the role of zinc in reducing the deleterious effects of cadmium on male ***:Rats were injected subcutaneously with CdCl_2 and ZnCl_2 at dose level of2.2 mg/kg(1/40 of LD50 of cadmium per day).Results:The rats treated with cadmium exhibited a significant increase in levels of testicular malondialdehyde,tumor necrosis factor-alpha,nitrogen oxide and inducible nitrogen oxide synthase immunostaining reaction,as well as an elevation of blood hydroperoxide and follicle stimulating *** addition,a significant decrease in testicular ascorbic acid,zinc,reduced glutathione,catalase,superoxide dismutase,sex organ weight,plasma testosterone and luteinizing hormone were observed in the cadmium *** motility and count were decreased with cadmium treatment,while sperm abnormalities elevated *** treatment was found to mitigate the toxic effects of cadmium on oxidative stress,spermatogenesis,sex hormones,and inflammatory *** injected with cadmium showed intense histopathological *** manifested protective role and markedly reduced tissues damage induced by ***:The protective effect of zinc can be attributed to its antioxidant and antiinflammatory properties.

This study aims to consolidate the surface of gray cast iron with aluminum deposition by developing a method that combines the preparation and surface treatment in a single operation. The effect of the wall thickness of the castings on the microstructure of the formed layers was studied, and two thicknesses, 8 mm and 25 mm, were studied. The formation of a continuous and homogeneous rich aluminum layer on the surface of the cast iron was observed. The formed layer is composed of two successive zones identified as two proeutectoid phases FeAl+FeAl/FeAl2 and single-phase FeAl, which significantly increases the surface hardness. Furthermore, this change in surface composition makes it possible to reduce the mass of the immersed samples in a 1 M hydrochloric acid solution during different exposure times(1 to 4 days). Consequently, a clear improvement in the corrosion resistance of the treated layers is highlighted.
