Adapting Memory Hierarchies for Emerging Datacenter Interconnects

Efficient resource utilization requires that emerging datacenter interconnects support both high performance communication and efficient remote resource sharing. These goals require that the network be more tightly coupled with the CPU chips. Designing a new interconnection technology thus requires considering not only the interconnection itself, but also the design of the processors that will rely on it. In this paper, we study memory hierarchy implications for the design of high-speed datacenter interconnects particularly as they affect remote memory access -- and we use PCIe as the vehicle for our investigations. To that end, we build three complementary platforms： a PCIe-interconnected prototype server with which we measure and analyze current bottlenecks; a software simulator that lets us model microarchitectural and cache hierarchy changes; and an FPGA prototype system with a streamlined switchless customized protocol Thunder with which we study hardware optimizations outside the processor. We highlight several architectural modifications to better support remote memory access and communication, and quantify their impact and ]imitations.

Intrinsic or acquired resistance to chemotherapy is a major hurdle in the treatment of *** of the key mechanisms of resistance is the overexpression of the drug efflux transporter P-glycoprotein(Pgp).Pgp overexpression renders a large number of mechanistically unrelated chemotherapies *** Pgp inhibition directly to overcome drug resistance,although conceptually and mechanistically attractive,has not translated to the clinic,in part because Pgp also has a critical protective function in many healthy *** was recently discovered that carbonic anhydrase XII(CA XII),an enzyme associated with pH regulation in cancer,is co-expressed and co-located with Pgp in drug resistant cancer *** XII is also upregulated by hypoxia,which is another microenvironmental factor that contributes to drug ***,we review findings that demonstrate modulation of CA XII may offer a promising new approach towards overcoming the longstanding hurdle of drug resistance and therapy failure against solid *** review covers the use of CA XII inhibitors,both small molecule and antibody,in combination with chemotherapeutics that are substrates for *** combination therapy approach restores the efficacy of chemotherapy in resistant cells and offers a potential new therapeutic window to re-examine the targeting of Pgp as a safe,effective,and novel anticancer strategy.

sally Shuttleworth is Professor of English and former Head of the Humanities Division at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of the British Academy(FBA). In 2021, she was included in The Queens' s Birthday Honours List and became a Commander of the Order of the British Empire(CBE). She has published extensively on the interrelated study of Victorian literature and science, especially medicine and public health, including The Mind of the Child: Child Development in Literature, Science and Medicine, 1840-1900(2020) and Anxious Times: Medicine and Modernity in Nineteenth-Century Britain(2019). In this interview, which was conducted during the interviewer's visit at the University of Oxford in early 2023, Prof. Shuttleworth discusses several major issues concerning the interdisciplinary study of “literature-medicine”: the borders of this field, the rise of Health Humanities, women's writings and healthcare, and the mission of humanists in the post-epidemic period.

Charge trap density and carrier mobility of perovskite materials are the critical properties of perovskite solar *** space charge limited current(SCLC)method,which measures a dark current–voltage(I-V)curve of a single-carrier device has found extensive use for studying the trap density and charge carrier mobility in perovskite ***,it was found that the electron-and hole-current in organo-lead perovskite-based single-carrier device undergoes significant hysteresis under forward and reverse scanning due to the mobile *** addition,it was also observed that measuring history has a detrimental effect on hysteresis resulting in possible overestimation or underestimation of the extracted electrical values from the SCLC *** the forward/reverse scanning process,the mobile ionic defects enhance/shield the charge in the traps due to ionic charging/discharging,thereby increasing/reducing the interface barrier and net charge in the I-V scanning,which in turn affects the determination of transport properties of the *** results raise quite a few doubts over the direct application of classical SCLC measurements for the accurate characterization of intrinsic transport properties of the mixed ionicelectronic perovskite.

Objective:To identify the illustration of feeding patterns of stunting children using literature review ***:This study was a descriptive narrative research using literature review approach to explore dietary habits of children with stunting *** the literature review processes employed Guideline Review measurement of Joanna Briggs *** ar ticles in literature were obtained from journal databases,such as Pub Med,Science Direct,Google Scholar,and Dimensions through structured research question with Patient,Exposure an interest,Outcome or response(PEO)***:This study found 2246 published ar ticles from 2018 to 2021 about children with *** process was conducted fur ther to eliminate ar ticles with irrelevant titles and abstracts,and also the unsuitable ar ticles with the research question;hence,about 9 ar ticles were eligible to be reviewed *** these ar ticles mentioned that children with irregular dietary habits would likely experience *** low intake of nutritional food became the major predictor of ***:Inappropriate feeding patterns and the variety of food were being the factors of stunting emergence among children<5 years of *** consumption of carbohydrates,less animal-based protein,and misunderstanding about intake of sweetenedcondensed milk predisposed children to suffer stunting.

Microbial infections cause complicated health influences along with bad economic *** the present investigation,three dominant seaweeds namely,Amphiroa anceps,Corallina officinalis and Sargassum filipendula were collected from different Egyptian sites at the Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea during autumn *** extracts of the three algae were screened for their antibacterial activity against three pathogenic bacteria Salmonella typhiimurium,Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli,in addition to in vitro antiviral activity against Rotavirus(RV),and Coxsackie virus B3(CVB3)that cause severe diseases in *** extract of ***,*** and *** inhibit *** cells by 57.1%,85.7%,and 91.4%,*** highest level of concentration of the *** extract(100μg/mL)inhibits 100%of Staphylococcus aureus cells followed by *** and *** extract which inhibit 82.5%and 75%of ***,the highest concentration of *** extract inhibits *** by 80%.The extract of *** exhibited a high antiviral effect against RV infection with TI=22 and virus titers lessened by 2.75 log TCID_(50) followed by extractions of *** with TI=18.3 and virus titers reduced by 2.5 log TCID_(50).Against CVB3 infection,the extract of *** causes the highest antiviral activity with TI=15 and reduce the viral titers by 2.5 log TCID_(50),followed by extractions of *** with TI=8.8 and inhibition of virus titers by 1.75 log TCID_(50).Extract of *** displayed the lowest antiviral effects against RV and CVB3 infection with TI=2.4 and 1.4,*** obtained results clarified that the extract of three marine seaweeds maintains a potent antimicrobial activity,making them a future promising source of new antimicrobial drugs.
