Gross and Microscopic Lesions of the Ovaries of Camels from Abattoirs in Eastern Province of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

In the present investigation, gross and microscopic lesions of the ovaries were studied in two hundred and ten (210) adult non-pregnant she-camels. Fresh samples of ovaries were collected from she-camels at the point of slaughter in Al-Ahsa abattoir, Eastern region of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These samples were subjected to histopathological studies and stained by routine Hematoxylin and Eosin stain. Grossly, of the 210 ovarian tissues examined, 30 (14.28%) had ovarian lesions of one type or another, whereas 180 (85.71%) camels were apparently healthy. Only 6 (2.85%) ovaries showed unilateral ovarian hypoplasia, whereas 4 (1.9%) showed bilateral ovarian hypoplasia. Cystic ovaries were observed in a total of 13 of the collected samples of ovaries, of these 8 (3.8%) were diagnosed as follicular cystic ovaries, while 5 (2.38%) were luteal cystic ovaries. Ovarian abscess appeared in only one sample of the collected ovaries. While ovarian tumors were observed in a total of 6 of the collected samples distributed as, two fibromas, three dermoid cysts, and only one hemangioma. The present study indicates that follicular cysts, luteal cysts and ovarian hypoplasia were the most common ovarian disorders in non-pregnant she-camels in Al-Ahsa region of the Eastern Province of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Natural Nanoskin Advance cell therapy (ACT) and Nanoskin ACT Soft have been established to be remarkably versatile biomaterials and can be used in a wide variety of applied scientific endeavors, especially for medical devices. In fact, the structure of Nanoskin materials can be adapted over length scales ranging from nano to macro by controlling the bio-fabrication process. The present paper describes Natural Nanoskin Advanced cell therapy (ACT) and Nanoskin ACT Soft production for wound care applications. ACT is produced from the bio-nanotechnology process. ACT is a highly hydrated pellicle with shaped fibers less than 2 nm wide. Nanoskin ACT Soft, like a paste, is designed to fill irregularities or recesses in the wound bed, and to absorb excess exudate from lesions by prolonging the used dressing's residence time and reducing the frequency of change.

Background: Treatment for Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) is mainly imatinib mesylate (IM) from original-brand, Glivec? or generic-type homologs, Imatib?. Materials and Methods: A collection of 149 CML patients was treated over a period of 6 years at Hiwa hospital. These patients were clustered into three groups: Group A was treated with Imatib for more than one year. All survivors of group A patients were switched to Glivec, classified as group B. Group C received only Glivec after June 2011. Imatib and Glivec are administered at doses 400-, 600- and 800-mg according to the CML stage. Results: Among group A patients, 68 (60%) were in complete haematological response (CHR), 32 (28.3%) developed acceleration and 13 (11.5%) patients were deceased. After switching to Glivec (group B), 69 (69%) patients remained in CHR, 10 (10%) patients weredeceased and 21 (21%) patients remained in acceleration. Of the 36 patients in group C, 33 (91.7%) were in CHR, 1 (2.8%) were in acceleration and 2 (5.5%) deceased. Those patients with CHR were tested randomly for BCR/ABL by FISH, and only 1/25 (4%) patients were found with complete cytogenetic response (CCyR) in group A, while 31/42 (73.8%) and 13/17 (76.5%) have CCyR in group B and C, respectively. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate a less cytogenetic response to treatment in patients of CML, who received the Imatib therapy, while a significant cytogenetic remission was found in patients with CHR after they switched to Glivec.

Solitary rectal ulcer syndrome (SRUS) is an uncommon disorder of defecation. Its management is usually unsatisfactory and responds best to surgery especially when there is rectal prolapse. There is a new report of the use of Argon plasma coagulation (APC) to enhance healing of these ulcers & control its bleeding in a study involving 16 patients. We involved a larger number of 18 patients in this case series to examine the role of APC in enhancing healing of SRUS & control its bleeding.

The coastline is one of the country’s most important environmental and economic resources. However, it is a delicate and highly coveted environ-ment on which many factors of evolution interact, both anthropogenic and natural. This work is concerned with the diachronic study of the coastline of the Mediterranean coast, particularly the coastal fringe at the level of Tangier Bay. In order to experimentally confirm the numerical models used and to take part in the development of an accurate, reliable and rapid decision support system for the assessment and remediation of the risks of accretion and coastal erosion, the methodology followed consists of the application of automatic analytical techniques, based on a geomatics approach, using a multi-temporal photo-interpretation, a Geographical Information System (GIS) and a computerized data analysis system (DSAS: Digital Shoreline Analysis System). The change rate will be calculated from the multi-date maps (1981-96 and 2017) using the End Point Rate (EPR). To achieve our objective, the study area was divided into three sectors from East to West: El Ghandouri Beach, Malabata Beach and the municipal square adjacent to the port. The GIS analysis of the data obtained shows that the coastline is present by location and for the three periods of comparison of the remarkable zones of erosion and sedimentation.

Lived Experience of Sickle cell Patients during and after Crisis

Aims and Objectives: To understand the lived experience and needs of patients with sickle cell disease during and two weeks after their crisis and identify the obstacles faced by patients while they are in the hospital. Background: Although there is no specific data of a number of affected individuals with sickle cell disease in Oman based on their age, the majority of the Omani population are youth. This category of the population is either in their high school or working in the governmental or private sector in the country. When the most productive category of the population are getting frequently absent due to sickle cell crisis and complication of sickle cell crisis from their work, this leads to huge financial and human resource burden. Design: Phenomenology. Method: This qualitative descriptive research was conducted using face-to-face interviews based on an interview protocol. The interview protocol was developed by the authors based on a framework called domains of well-being. Twenty adult patients have been recruited for the interview after meeting inclusion criteria and were asked about their well-being and lived experience during sickle cell crisis. Authors used SRQR checklist in reporting the study. Results: Thirteen themes were identified related to patients’ lived experience and their well-being during sickle cell crisis. Patients reported physical, emotional, social, and spiritual alteration. Major themes that emerged are communication, medical team interpretation of genuine pain, Emotional disturbance during the crisis, What does this study contribute to the wider global clinical community? Nurses and doctors should use therapeutic communication when dealing with sickle cell patients. Nurses should establish rapport and trust with patients.
