The a.titumor effect of stea.ic a.id-gra.ted ca.boxymethyl chitosa. wa. a.sessed by the estima.ion of TGF- β a.d VEGF in serum in a.dition to the estima.ion of tumor volume, media. surviva. time (MST), percenta.e of increa.e in life spa. (ILS%) a. well a. the contents of tota. lipid, DNa.a.d RNa.in liver tissues. Hema.ologica. profiles (hemoglobin, red blood cells, a.d pla.elets) were a.so a.sessed. In a.dition, liver function tests a.d the redox sta.us were estima.ed. TGF- β, VEGF, DNa. RNa. a.d ma.ondia.dehyde (MDa. levels, in a.dition to serum a.a.ine tra.sa.ina.e (a.T) a.d ga.ma.gluta.yl tra.sfera.e (GGT) a.tivities a. well a. tota. white blood cells counts a.d tumor volume were a.l highly significa.tly increa.ed (P a.ed Ea.-bea.ing mice compa.ed to controls. However, hema.ologica. profiles, tota. lipid in liver tissues a.d serum a.bumin were highly decrea.ed in Ea.-bea.ing mice compa.ed to controls. a.l these pa.a.eters were restored to the norma. levels in Sa.CMC trea.ed Ea.-bea.ing mice com- pa.ed to the untrea.ed Ea.-bea.ing mice. It is thus concluded tha. stea.ic a.id-gra.ted ca.boxymethyl chitosa. ha. a.rema.ka.le a.titumor a.tivity a.a.nst Ea. in Swiss a.bino mice through downregula.ion of TGF-β a.d VEGF.

Liver meta.ta.is is a.norma. result in Ehrlich a.cites Ca.cinoma.Cell (Ea.) infected mice. a.pa.tia.ly purified protein with Superoxide Dismuta.e (SOD)-like a.tivity extra.ted from lea.es of Ra.hnus sa.ivus wa. tested for its a.ility to down regula.e liver meta.ta.is of Ehrlich a.cites Ca.cinoma.Cell (Ea.) intra.eritonea.ly impla.ted in a.bino mice. Sixty a.bino mice were divided equa.ly into 4 groups. Group I mice (G1 control) were trea.ed with physiologic sa.ine solution for 7 da.s. Group 2 mice (G2) were injected with the pa.tia.ly purified protein. Group 3 mice (G3) were intra.eritonea.ly inocula.ed with Ea. cells a.d trea.ed with the pa.tia.ly purified protein. Group 4 mice (G4) were inocula.ed Ea. cells a.d trea.ed with physiologic sa.ine solution. The results showed a.disturba.ce in liver functions. This disturba.ce wa. observed a. a.reduction in the va.ues of serum a.bumin, hemoglobin, tota. counts of erythrocytes a.d pla.elets, tota. lipids in liver tissues, erythrocytes SOD a.tivity, serum glucose, reduced gluta.hione (GSH) a.d the tra.e elements (Fe, Mn, Zn, a.d Cu) contents in liver a.d spleen tissues a. well a. the eleva.ion of serum tra.sa.ina.es a.tivities, the levels of ma.ondia.dehyde in blood, DNa.a.d RNa.of liver tissues in the infected mice (G4). On the other ha.d, in G3, a.ter trea.ment with the pa.tia. purified protein a.l these pa.a.eters restored their norma. va.ues a.d beca.e nea. from the norma. group (GI). Moreover, the protein showed no toxicity towa.ds the mice a. shown in G2. It could be concluded tha. a.pa.tia.ly purified protein with Superoxide Dismuta.e (SOD)-like a.tivity extra.ted from lea.es of Ra.hnus sa.ivus a. a.na.ure source ha. a.promised future in controlling liver meta.ta.is.

The development of new a.d effective a.titumor a.ents is one of the ma.n goa.s of medicina. a.d biochemica. resea.ch a. present. The present study is concerned with the eva.ua.ion of the previously synthesized N-Butylpyridoquinoxa.ine 1,4-dioxide (NBPQD) a. a. a.titumor a.ent a.a.nst Ehrlich a.cites ca.cinoma.(Ea.). The first pa.t of the study (tumor ima.ing) wa. to investiga.e the biodistribution of NBPQD in the orga.s of Ea.-bea.ing mice using iodine-125 isotope stressing on its distribution in the ma.n orga.s (stoma.h, liver, spleen, kidney) in a.dition to blood a.d a.cetic fluid. The second pa.t wa. the a.sessment of the a.titumor a.tivity of NBPQD by estima.ing the tumor volume a.d the contents of tota. protein, tota. lipid, DNa.a.d RNa.in liver tissues. In a.dition, liver function tests a.d the redox sta.us were a.sessed. Tumor volume a.d DNa. RNa. urea.a.d ma.ondia.dehyde (MDa. levels a.d the liver enzymes a.tivity were highly significa.tly increa.ed (P a.ed Ea.-bea.ing mice compa.ed to control. However, tota. lipid a.d tota. protein in liver tissues in a.dition to serum a.bumin, glucose, reduced gluta.hione (GSH) a. well a. a.tivities of gluta.hione reducta.e (GSH-R) a.d superoxide dismuta.e (SOD) a.l were highly significa.tly decrea.ed in untrea.ed Ea.-bea.ing mice compa.ed to controls. a.l these decrea.ed pa.a.eters were highly significa.tly restored to their norma. levels in NBPQD trea.ed mice compa.ed to the untrea.ed Ea.-bea.ing mice.
