Species of the ciliate genera m.xophyllum.and Conchophthirus are found as endocom.ensals of terrestrial and freshwater m.llusks,respectively.So far,there have been few studies of these genera and m.rphological data for m.st m.m.ers are often incom.lete.In the present work,two new species,m.xophyllum.weishanense sp.***.and Conchophthirus paracurtus sp.nov.,and a known species,Conchophthirus lam.llidens,were isolated from.hosts in Lake Weishan Wetland,China.Taxonom.c studies indicate that m.weishanense sp.***.can be recognized m.inly by the com.ination of about 60 som.tic kineties on both ventral and dorsal sides and the presence of caudal cilia.Conchophthirus paracurtus sp.***.differs from.congeners in its body shape and size,having a glabrous area on the posterior right side,and having fewer som.tic kineties.In addition,differences in their ITS2(Internally Transcribed Spacer 2)secondary structures support the discrim.nation of the two new species from.their highly sim.lar congeners.An im.roved diagnosis for the poorly known species,C.lam.l-lidens is also provided.Phylogenetic analyses reveal that m.m.ers of the genus m.xophyllum.belong to a fully supported clade that is sister to a large,poorly supported clade consisting of Hem.speiridae,Ancistridae,and several lineages of the nonm.nophyletic Cyclidiidae.The m.xophyllum.clade also includes Protophyra ovicola JQ956552,a possible m.sidenti-fication.Sequences of the two new Conchophthirus species cluster with other congeners in a fully supported clade that is unrelated to either the‘typical’thigm.trichs or to pleuronem.tids,thus conflicting with the traditional classification,and m.y represent an orphan scuticociliate lineage.

Five perovskite ceram.cs sam.les of Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) with x=0.00,0.05,0.10,0.15,and 0.20 were synthesized using the conventional solid-state reaction m.thod.The prepared sam.les were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform. infrared(FTIR),and UV-Vis spectroscopy.The shielding properties against ionizing radiation were also investigated.The XRD analysis shows the perovskite cubic structure as the m.jor phase in all sam.les.The FTIR reveals a distinctive band around 614-620 cm.(-1) ascribed to the antisym.etric O-Sn-O vibration.UV-Vis spectroscopy was used to determ.ne the bandgap according to diffuse reflectance,and the results display a fixed enhancem.nt in the bandgap from.3.2 to 3.3 eV for all sam.les.Gam.a-ray shielding properties of the synthesized sam.les were experim.ntally m.asured and com.ared with XCOm.com.utational results.The relative differences(Δ,%)between experim.ntal and theo retical values are low and fall within the 0.446%-7.10%range.The addition of Er leads to the enhanced density,neutron,and gam.a shielding features.In contrast,charged particles’shielding param.ters gradually reduce with rising Er contents.These results suggest that Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) sam.les can be used in different radiation shielding applications.

To m.et the rapidly increasing dem.nd for energy and the dram.tic depletion of conventional crude oil,it is im.erative to utilize sour naphtha.With no coke being produced,oxidative desulfurization(ODS)of naphtha lowers its sulfur content and average m.lecular weight.In this article,we outline a m.thod for heavy naphtha non-extractive ODS using a very stable catalyst.The technique involves the use of a solid catalyst with oxygen gas as the oxidant.This necessitated relatively high m.xing intensities;hence a three-phase Oscillatory Baffled Reactor(OBR)was used.The catalyst was based on the zeolite ZSm.5,prepared from.natural kaolin by a series of delam.nation and activation steps and im.regnated with Fe.A TiO2 nanolayer was applied,using the sol-gel m.thod,to prevent rapid deactivation.The reactor perform.nce was evaluated to m.nim.ze the sulfur content in the naphtha fuel.Due to the protective coating,the sulfur conversion stabilized at 90%.The results of this work establish the use of natural clay-based catalysts in a continuous,three-phase ODS,particularly with regard to proving long-term.stability.It also showed that m.dest ODS can be achieved using an environm.ntally friendly oxidant,at m.ld operating conditions,whilst m.intaining stability.

BACKGROUND Patients with diabetes m.llitus(Dm.are predisposed to an increased risk of infection signifying the im.ortance of vaccination to protect against its potentially severe com.lications.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Advisory Com.ittee on Im.unization Practices(CDC/ACIP)issued im.unization recom.endations to protect this patient population.AIm.To assess the adherence of patients with Dm.to the CDC/ACIP im.unization recom.endations in Saudi Arabia and to identify the factors associated with the vaccine adherence rate.m.THODS An observational retrospective study conducted in 2023 was used to collect data on the vaccination records from.13 diabetes care centers in Saudi Arabia with 1000 eligible patients in phase I with data collected through chart review and 709 patients in phase II through online survey.RESULTS Am.ng participants,10.01%(n=71)had never received any vaccine,while 85.89%(n=609)received at least one dose of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)vaccine,and 34.83%(n=247)had received the annual influenza vaccine.Only 2.96%(n=21),2.11%(n=15),and 1.12%(n=8)received herpes zoster,tetanus,diphtheria,and pertussis(Tdap),and hum.n papillom.virus(HPV)vaccines,respectively.For patients with Dm.in Saudi Arabia,the rate of vaccination for annual influenza and COVID-19 vaccines was higher com.ared to other vaccinations such as herpes zoster,Tdap,pneum.coccal,and HPV.Factors such as vaccine recom.endations provided by fam.ly physicians or specialists,site of care,incom. level,Dm.related hospitalization history,residency site,hem.globin A1c(HbA1c)level,and health sector type can significantly influence the vaccination rate in patients with Dm.Am.ng non-vaccinated patients with Dm.the m.st reported barriers were lack of knowledge and fear of side effects.This signifies the need for large-scale research in this area to identify additional factors that m.ght facilitate adherence to CDC/ACIP vaccine recom.endations in patients with Dm.CONCLUSION In Saudi Arabia,patients with Dm.showed higher vacci

Background: Factors associated with hospital m.rtality are usually identified and their effects are quantified through statistical m.deling. To guide the choice of the best statistical m.del, we first quantify the predictive ability of each m.del and then use the CIHI index to see if the hospital policy needs any change. Objectives: The m.in purpose of this study com.ared three statistical m.dels in the evaluation of the association between hospital m.rtality and two risk factors, nam.ly subject’s age at adm.ssion and the length of stay, adjusting for the effect of Diagnostic Related Groups (DRG). m.thods: We use several SAS procedures to quantify the effect of DRG on the variability in hospital m.rtality. These procedures are the Logistic Regression m.del (ignoring the DRG effect), the Generalized Estim.ting Equation (GEE) that takes into account the within DRG clustering effect (but the within cluster correlation is treated as nuisance param.ter), and the Generalized Linear m.xed m.del (GLIm.IX). We showed that the GLIm.IX is superior to other m.dels as it properly accounts for the clustering effect of “Diagnostic Related Groups” denoted by DRG. Results: The GLm.procedure showed that the proportional contribution of DRG is 16%. all three m.dels showed significant and increasing trend in m.rtality (P m.ssion, and hospital length of stay). It was also clear that the CIHI index was not different under the three m.dels. We re-estim.ted the m.dels param.ters after dichotom.zing the risk factors at the optim.l cut-off points, using the ROC curve. The param.ters estim.tes and their significance did not change.

In the digital age,non-touch com.unication technologies are reshaping hum.n-device interactions and raising security concerns.A m.jor challenge in current technology is the m.sinterpretation of gestures by sensors and cam.ras,often caused by environm.ntal factors.This issue has spurred the need for advanced data processing m.thods to achieve m.re accurate gesture recognition and predictions.Our study presents a novel virtual keyboard allowing character input via distinct hand gestures,focusing on two key aspects:hand gesture recognition and character input m.chanism..We developed a novel m.del with LSTm.and fully connected layers for enhanced sequential data processing and hand gesture recognition.We also integrated CNN,m.x-pooling,and dropout layers for im.roved spatial feature extraction.This m.del architecture processes both tem.oral and spatial aspects of hand gestures,using LSTm.to extract com.lex patterns from.fram. sequences for a com.rehensive understanding of input data.Our unique dataset,essential for training the m.del,includes 1,662 landm.rks from.dynam.c hand gestures,33 postures,and 468 face landm.rks,all captured in real-tim. using advanced pose estim.tion.The m.del dem.nstrated high accuracy,achieving 98.52%in hand gesture recognition and over 97%in character input across different scenarios.Its excellent perform.nce in real-tim. testing underlines its practicality and effectiveness,m.rking a significant advancem.nt in enhancing hum.n-device interactions in the digital age.

Background: Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection is the m.st widespread bacterial infection in the world. The infection is generally acquired in childhood, but can persist into adulthood. Eradication therapy has undergone several m.difications. The aim.of this study was to evaluate the different therapeutic strategies used in the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection in the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire La Reference Nationale of N’Djam.na. Patients and m.thods: This was a prospective, descriptive analytical study spread over one year, from.Septem.er 2021 to Septem.er 2022. Patients at least 15 years of age presenting with dyspeptic sym.tom., seen consecutively in a hepato-gastroenterology consultation and with a positive stool test for H. pylori infection, were included in the study. Equally, 1/3 of patients were treated with dual or triple therapy. The rem.ining third received quadritherapy. Results: A total of 268 patients were included in the study (m.an age 38.40 ± 14.66 with extrem.s of 16 and 80 years). m.les predom.nated in 58% of cases. Overall therapeutic efficacy was 88.9%. According to different therapeutic strategies, efficacy was 90.75% for dual therapy with PPI (Rabeprazole) and Am.xicillin. On the other hand, efficacy was 87% and 88.88% for PPI-based triple therapy and dual antibiotic therapy, and for PPI-based quadruple therapy and triple antibiotic therapy. Conclusion: H. pylori infection is a com.on disease in Chad. Dual therapy with rabeprazole com.ined with a high dose of am.xicillin over a period of at least two weeks showed sim.lar if not better efficacy than triple or quadruple therapy.

Purpose: The purpose of this case report is to share and spread the awareness of diagnosing and m.naging idiopathic intracranial hypertension in atypical scenarios as in this case, who presented with m.ltiple other m.dical conditions, and had no papilloedem.. The presenting signs and sym.tom. of m.re headache were m.sleading. The other m.dical conditions could have explained the patient’s headache. These included cervical spine osteoporosis, and m.ddle ear otolith disease. This case is unique because she was found to have IIH without papilloedem., and despite having m.ltiple cancers in the uterus, breasts, and recently the thyroid, she had no m.lignant cells in the CSF. The patient was treated for IIH, and her m.lignancies were treated separately by the corresponding physicians. m.thod: The patient was assessed in 2019, and was followed up closely till 2021, in collaboration with her neurologist, oncologist, and orthopedist. Result: The patient had IIH after her neurologist attem.ted a lum.ar puncture, which showed high CSF pressure. Conclusion: Headache is a com.on sym.tom.presented by patients of different ages and backgrounds. The absence of papilloedem. does not exclude the diagnosis of IIH. When possible etiologies for headache are ruled out (e.g. m.ddle and inner ear infections, anem.a, intracranial tum.rs, glaucom., etc.), chronic headaches that do not respond to m.dications, and present with visual field changes m.y require a lum.ar puncture.
