Nephroprotective Effect of <i>Nigella Sativa</i>and <i>Matricaria Chamomilla</i>in Cisplatin Induced Renal Injury—Supportive Treatments in Cisplatin Nephrotoxicity

Nigella sativa and Matricaria chamomilla are extensively consumed as tea or tonic. Despite their widespread use as a home remedy, relatively few trials evaluated their benefits in nephroprotection. Hence, this study evaluates the nephroprotective effects of supportive treatments (N. sativa, M. chamomilla and vitamin E) in cisplatin nephrotoxicity rat model. Eighty rats divided into 10 groups, of 8 animals each. The first group (G1) injected with saline intra-pretoneal (i.p). G2 injected with 5 mg/kg cisplatin i.p on zero day of experiment and repeated 4 times, with 5 days free interval. G3-G10 received daily supportive treatments, started 5 days before the experiment (–5day). Concomitantly G4, G6, G8 and G10 injected with 5 mg/kg cisplatin i.p like G2. On day sixteen, animal scarified, serum and/or kidney tissue were used to determine kidney function tests (serum urea, creatinine, NAG, β-gal), oxidative stress indices (NO, LPO), antioxidant activities (SOD), sulphur compounds (GGT, GSH, total thiols ), apoptotic indices (cathepsin D, DNA fragmentation), two minerals (Ca2+ and zn2+). Cisplatin caused marked elevation in serum GGT that reduced signifi-cantly in group received M. chamomilla with cisplatin (P elation between GGT and NAG in cisplatin group (r = 0.731 p ely.

The current article addresses a new strategy for the preparation of polylactic acid/cellulose nanocrystal(PLA/CNCs)nanobiocomposite films with improved structural morphology,mechanical and barrier properties for food packaging applications.The addition of hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB)and sodium lauryl sulfate(SLS)as cationic and anionic surfactants respectively,was found to play a crucial role in preventing re-aggregation of the CNCs during drying and improving the dispersion of CNCs in the PLA.The coated paper was characterized using mechanical tests,water vapor permeability(WVP),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and air permeability.The results showed that the paper coated with PLA containing 7.5%CNCs and 0.15%CTAB based on weight of PLA,gives the highest measured paper properties,where an increase in tensile strength(+133%),Young’s modulus(+309%),tear index(+183%),burst(+60.8)and a decrease in air permeability(−92%)was obtained.

Background: Although non-specific, transabdominal bowel ultrasonography, in real time or in color Doppler;has been beneficial in evaluating the location, extent and activity of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Aim: To assess the potential role of bowel transabdominal bowel ultrasonography in the diagnosis and follow-up of IBD. Patients and Methods: A cohort of 30 adults histologically-proven active IBD patients;ulcerative colitis (UC) (n = 20), Crohn’s disease (CD) (n = 10) were prospectively assessed in addition to 20 non-IBD participants representing the control group. All participants underwent the full colonoscopy in addition to real time and color Doppler ultrasonography. Bowel wall thickness, peri-enteric changes, and hemodynamic changes in the portal vein and mesenteric arteries were recorded at initial enrollment and after complete remission in 10 IBD patients. Objectives: This study aims to describe birth weight and its variations concerning maternal characteristics as well as to standardize birth weight curves for Qatari and expatriate’s newborn population born in the state of Qatar. Methods: PEARL-Peristat registry is a National maternal-neonatal observation epidemiologic database project where both maternal and neonatal cohort data are collected to evaluate specified outcomes for a population defined by a disease, conditions, or exposures. Results: Out of 50,535 singleton deliveries, only 44,178 live-born infants were included in this study. The LBW rate has remained constant since 2011 and was reported as 2.4% in males and 3.5% in females. The average total LBW was 3%. The lowest incidence of LBW was seen in maternal age between 30 - 45 years. There was a marginal increase in the incidence of LBW among mothers less than 20 years

本文通过无模板水热法在100°C条件下制备了Na P沸石分子筛,并研究了Na2O/Si O2和Si O2/Al2O3摩尔比、凝胶老化时间和老化温度等参数,以调节最终产品的结晶度.不同合成阶段的样品,用-196°C氮吸附、场发射扫描电子显微镜(FE-SEM)、氨程序升温脱附、X-射线衍射、热重和差示扫描量热分析以及傅里叶变换红外光谱法进行了表征.实验结果表明,在Na2O/Si O2和Si O2/Al2O3摩尔比分别为1.10和1.40,100°C温度下老化4天,可以获得高度有序结晶化的Na P分子筛.FE-SEM图像显示Na P分子筛的多晶聚集体晶粒尺寸可达5.04μm,具有仙人掌/卷心菜样结构.定量分析发现酸位点总数随Na2O的增加而增加,Na2O/Si O2摩尔比为1.13的Na P沸石样品与1.10摩尔比合成的样品相比,在外表面上具有大量的酸位点.优化后的Na P分子筛在水溶液中具有优异的钙离子吸附性能,本文对钙离子吸附动力学参数进行了详细研究.

The problems of optimal control (OCPs) related to PDEs are a very active area of research. These problems deal with the processes of mechanical engineering, heat aeronautics, physics, hydro and gas dynamics, the physics of plasma and other real life problems. In this paper, we deal with a class of the constrained OCP for parabolic systems. It is converted to new unconstrained OCP by adding a penalty function to the cost functional. The existence solution of the considering system of parabolic optimal control problem (POCP) is introduced. In this way, the uniqueness theorem for the solving POCP is introduced. Therefore, a theorem for the sufficient differentiability conditions has been proved.

The antibiotic therapy has many problems, such as antibiotics resistance, hypersensitivity, direct toxicity, antibiotic-induced immunosuppresion and super-infections. This is highlighting the need for a new strategy for non-antibiotic therapy through the use of novel immunomodulators as naturally released ones (Lactoferrin). The present study investigates the potential of bovine lactoferrin (bLf), isolated from bovine milk whey, to prevent Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), Escherichia coli (E. coli), Streptococcus agalactiae (S. agalactiae) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aerogenosa) growth and then evaluates its immunomodulator effect. First, bLf isolation was attempted from bovine milk whey using a cation exchange chromatography by SP-Sepharose. Second, the antimicrobial activity assays were trailed to study the antimicrobial activity of bLf. Finally, the immune effect of bLf was studied by lymphocyte transformation test. It was found that bLf was separated around molecular weight of 80 kDa and showed significant inhibitory effect against E. coli followed by P. aeruginosa, S. agalactiae and S. aureus. bLf increased lymphocyte transformations mean values in a dose dependant manner. The highest transformations mean value was determined at 50 μg/mL. In conclusion, these results suggest that bLf is a potent natural antimicrobials and immunomodulator agent.
