Fruits of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) are consumed throughout the world and are a vital component of the diet in most Arabian countries. The effect of partial replacement of wheat flour with a 1:1 mixture of wheat bran and date palm fruit powder on rheological properties of the biscuit dough was studied. Levels of mixture used were 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%. Dough rheology (farinograph, extensograph properties) and biscuit quality (physical properties, colour, sensory evaluation) were assessed. Results obtained indicated that water absorption gradually increased by increasing the levels of wheat bran: palm date powder, meanwhile mixing tolerance index decreased. Dough stability, which indicates the dough strength, also found to decrease by increasing mixture of wheat bran and date powder (1:1). Furthermore, dough development time gradually increased by increasing the mixture at all levels. It was 6.04 min at level of 40% compared to the control (2.5 min). Extensograph results showed that dough energy and dough resistance to extension and proportional number also increased compared with control sample. The proportional number (R/E) ratios increased largely from 3.20 to 5.27 at the level of 40.0%. Ash and fibre contents gradually increased as the mixture levels increased. However, mineral content progressively increased by increasing the level of date powder in the mixture. Incorporation of wheat bran and date powder mixture decreased the spread of the biscuits from 55.66 to 52.82 mm without change in the thickness of the biscuits. Organoleptic properties revealed that quality of biscuits was acceptable at mixture level of 30%.

To evaluate the concentrations of heavy metals and identification of their sources, 20 composite soil samples were collected randomly in Fallujah city, Iraq. To assess the pollution level, we used the soil metal index (SmI) and enrichment factor. We investigated the sources of heavy metal using the chemometric techniques such as correlation analysis, principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA). The concentrations of Pb and Co have a normal distribution in soil of the study area. Zn and Cd have an approximately normal distribution, and Ni, Cu, and Cr have a non-normal distribution. Our results revealed that the urban soils in Fallujah city were unpolluted by heavy metals and showed a significant to extremely high enrichments of heavy metals controlled by anthropogenic activities. The moderate to strong positive correlations among Cd, Co, Cu, Cr, Ni, Pb, and Zn suggest that these metals have common sources. The chemometric techniques identify that the source of Cu, Co and Pb is controlled by lithogenic origin and that the source of Cr, Ni and Cd is controlled by mixed sources (lithogenic and anthropogenic).

multivariate statistical method including cluster analysis (CA) was used to assess temporal and spatial variations in the water quality of Euphrates River, Iraq, for a period 2008-2009 using 16 parameters at 11 sampling sites. Hierarchical CA grouped the 8 months into three periods (I, II and III) and classified the 11 sampling sites into two groups (I and II) based on similarities of water quality characteristics. The temporal pattern shows that April has higher pollution level relative to the other months. Spatially, sampling site 7 (S7) has lower pollution level while the other sampling sites have higher pollution level. Thus, this study shows usefulness of cluster analysis method for analyzing and interpreting of surface water dataset to assess the temporal and spatial variations in the water quality parameters and the optimization of regional water quality sampling network.

This study aims to the initial characterization of Aptian sedimentary limestones in the Kef region located in the North-West of Tunisia in order to use in industrial fields. The limestone samples were collected from three outcrops respectively named Jebel Jerissa, Jebel Hmeima and Jebel Harraba. A geochemical characterization highlights a variation of the weight percentage (wt%) as follows: CaO (53 - 55), mgO (0.04 - 0.28), Al2O3 (0.07 - 0.51), Fe2O3 (0.41 - 2.87), and a loss on ignition (41.62 - 43.35). The other oxides (K2O, SO3, Na2O) are in trace amounts. mineralogical analysis revealed that limestones contain more than 95% of calcite and the clay impurities are the minor phases detected. Petrographic study showed that these limestones are packestone-wakestone type. The hardness of Aptian limestones crosses the upper limit of the hard domain. Geotechnical tests reveal a Dry micro Deval (mDS) coefficient varying from 23% to 33%, a Wet micro Deval (mDH) coefficient with values oscillating around 26% to 36%, a Los Angeles coefficient (LA) about 25% against a value of the compressive strength ranging from 593 Kg/cm2 to 866 Kg/cm2. The gravimetric tests highlighted a flexural strength value from 106 Kg/cm2 at 208 Kg/cm2, while the ultrasonic coefficient oscillates from 4876 m/s to 5233 m/s, indicating the low porosity of these limestone (0.5% to 1%). The density recorded an average value of 2.50 g/cm3. The various properties studied have proved that the limestone studied can be used in various industrial fields such steel industry, aggregate, cement industry and marble.

Right ventricular tear mimicking myocardial infarction following pericardiocentesis

A 72-year-old female was admitted to the CCU with a recent onset of progressive breathlessness for bedside pericardial drainage for chronic pericardial effusion. After an uncomplicated drainage procedure, initially a serous straw coloured fluid was aspired with subsequent hemorrhagic aspiration with haemoglobin value similar to the peripheral blood. The patient showed initially transient improvement followed by rapid deterioration into severe shock and death. Signs of infero-posterior myocardial infarction (mI) were seen on the ECG. Before death, further interventions were refused by her and her family but a permission was given for autopsy. At autopsy, right ventricular rupture was seen with a 0.6 cm tear with a large amount of 800 cc bloody fluid with clots. The result of histopathologic study of the tear was resembling three-days old mI. The drain was found to be properly localized in the pericardial space, was not blocked and caused no harm to the myocardium. Furthermore, histopathologic examination revealed pulmonary adenocarcinoma of the left upper lobe, pleuritis and lymphangitis carcinomatosa and enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes. A case of fatal complication is reported following bedside pericardial drainage. Postmortal, right ventricular tear mimicked myocardial infarction.

This work aims to assess the effect of energy conversion (Thermal oil, Natural gas and cogeneration system) on atmospheric emission and energy consumption in ceramic tile product sector in Tunisia. Two tile manufactures were selected. The first plant has two production lines: The first line (FF1) operates with thermal oil with a lower calorific value (LHV) of 9811 cal/g and the second line (FG1) operating with natural gas has a lower calorific value (HHV) of 10,520 cal/g, ensuring a daily output of 300 tons each one. The second manufacture (SC2) operates with natural gas with the same LHV value. The thermal oil energy balance showed a specific consumption of 0.0481 toe/ton tile product for the FF1 manufacture line, 0.0198 toe/ton of tile product for the FG1 manufacture line and 0.0143 toe/ton of tile product for the SC2 manufactory. The electrical energy consumption was 0.0121 toe/ton of tile product for the FF1 line, 0.0108 toe/ton of tile product for the FG1 line and a production of energy (exergy) of 0.014 toe/ton for the SC2 production line. The specific consumption was split into 40% for dryer and 60% for tunnel kilns. The conversion allow to record a dryer reduction rate of 80% for nitrogen oxides (NOx), 56% for sulfur oxides (SOx), 56% for fluorinated compounds, 52% for chlorinated compounds and 52% for volatile organic compound. Whereas, the kiln reduction rate was 36% for nitrogen oxides, 51% for sulfur oxides, 36% for chlorinated compounds and 55% for fluorinated and 50% for volatile organic compounds (VCOs). Compared to natural gas line, the use of cogeneration system in kiln process shows a decrease of 67% for NOx emissions, 80% for SOx emissions, 89% for fluorinated compounds, 58% for chlorinated emissions and 64% for volatiles organic compounds. Compared to thermal oil, the use of cogeneration system reduces the thermal energy consumption by 70% and allowed to save 30% of electric energy by generate 20% of needed electric energy. Objectives: In this study molecular/genomic characteristics were done on new tissue biopsies taken from Egyptian patients with refractory metastatic solid tumors aiming for two end points: To figure out a personalized treatment and to find the percent of discrepancy between the elaborated drugs of potential benefit and that stated in the guidelines. methods: 22 eligible patients joined the study. (breast = 5, colon = 3, liver = 2, kidney = 2, ovary = 2, sarcoma = 2, metastasis of unknown origin = 2, Tongue = 1, Adrenal cancer = 1, gastric = 1 and lung cancer = 1). Biopsies were subjected to one or more of the following tests;Immunohistochemistry, Chromogenic/Fluorescence in situ Hybridization, Next Generation Sequencing, Sanger Sequencing. Results: Biomarkers and their corresponding drugs with associated potential benefits were detected as following;TUBB3, PGP and TLE3 (indicating potentiality of paclitaxel) in 22% of cases, TS (Antifolates) 18%, TOPO1 (Irinotecan) 14%, RRm1 (Gemcitabine) 13%, mGmT (Temozolomide) 7%, TOPO2 (Doxorubcin) 7%, ERCC1 (Platinum) 6%, BRAF (Vemurafenib) 2%, KRAS and NRAS (anti EGFR) 2%, C-KIT (TKIs potentiality) 1%, hormonal receptors in 5% of cases (Antihormonal potentiality), monoSPARK and polySPARK in 3% of cases indicating nabpaclitaxel potentiality. Potentiality of some drugs (Based on their corresponding biomarkers) was unexpectedly detected as following;Pemetrexed, irinotecan, dacarbazine and temozolomide in breast cancer patients, platinums and taxanes in liver, Taxanes, gemcitabine, fluoropyramidines, pemetrexed, dacarbazine and temozolomide in kidney cancer, Taxanes, gemcitabine, pemetrexed, dacarbazine and temozolomide in cancer colon, irinotecan in cancer tongue, Pemetrexed and irinotecan in adrenal gland cancer. Background: During pregnancy a small number of fetal RBCs (Red Blood Cells) enter maternal blood without risk, and incidence of significant feto-maternal hemorrhage (FmH) and isoimmunization depends on how much fetal blood enters maternal circulation;the use of flow cytometer (FCm) in FmH detection is considered the best laboratory technique. Aims: To evaluate role of FCm in FmH estimation to optimize delivery protocols and decrease isoimmunization. Subject and method: 100 pregnant women at labor were included, equally classified into early cord clamping (ECC) and delayed cord clamping (DCC) groups, each including 25 women delivered vaginally and 25 with caesarian section;the control groups included 20 non-pregnant females, 20 at 3rd trimester and 20 neonates. Fetal RBCs were done on Becton Dickinson (B.D) FCm, and the reagents used were 5-Glutaraldehyde 0.5% Sigma cat. G5882, flouroscine isothiocyanite (FITC) anti-hemoglobin F (Hb-F) cat. 555748, anti-carbonic anhydrase, Triton-X100 solution and Alsever’s solution cat. HFH-11, 0.1% phosphate buffer saline/bovine serum albumin (PBS/BSA). Statistical Analysis: mann Whitney’s U-test, Chi-squared, Fischer’s Exact tests, and SPSS for windows version 15.0. Results: There was a significant increase in the volume of the FmH in the ECC compared to DCC groups (p mparing to caesarian section subgroups within the DCC group (p mpared to DCC within caesarian section subgroup (p mation by FCm is good;perinatal laboratory test should be done in routine investigations, as a guide for obstetric techniques that can alter FmH volume and decrease subsequent isoimmunization.

Thermal medicine offers an original approach to health that is not only based on treating symptoms. The major advantage of thermal medicine is based on the overall support of the disease, providing prevention, alleviation and treatment of many diseases (rheumatism, bronchitis, skin diseases, etc). In order to get the best possible results by thermal treatments, regular and accurate analysis of the thermal waters of the hot springs is often necessary. This article has a scientific objective for the development of fundamental knowledge needed to better control the hydrogeochemical hot springs in northern Algeria. This study will be addressed by conventional chemical analysis of major chemical elements found at water points (hot springs) in northern Algeria. The results are obtained in the form of semi-logarithmic graphs (Schoeller and Berkallof) and rhombic (Piper).
