Objectives: The main objective of this study was to investigate the bacterial infections of seminal fluid in males with primary infertility. The patients were referred to and/or visiting the Urology Department in salah Al-Deen Teaching Hospital. methods: The present study was carried out from may 2017 to June 2018 and the number of the patients group was 60. The patients aged between 20 to 50 years. Semen was collected from infertile men of a couple that female failed to become pregnant after one year of regular and unprotected intercourse of marriage and submitted for seminal fluid analysis for the bacteriological analyses. The control group consisted of 50 fertile male who were selected randomly from Tikrit City during the period of this study. Semen culture was done for all the patients and the control group. Results: There were 30 patients who suffered from bacteriospermia and 16 of them (53.3%) were infected with gram positive organisms, while only 14 (46.7%) patients were infected with gram negative organisms. The most common organism was Staphylococcus aureus which was isolated from bacteriospermia. Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, S. saprophyticus, Proteus mirabilis and Niesseria gonorrhoae were also isolated and the frequencies of isolation were 23.3% (7), 13.3% (4), 10.0% (3), 10.0% (3), 6.6% (2), and 6.6% (2) respectively. The present study showed many antibiotics were not active against gram positive bacteria isolated e.g. the resistance frequenciy to rifampcin, vancomycin and clindamycin was 48%, 44% and 40% respectively. Conclusions: The gram positive organisms were more prevalent than gram negative organisms in patients with bacteriospermia and the isolationfrequencies of two groups were 16 (53.3%) and 14 (46.7%) respectively. The most effective antimicrobial agents were amikacin, ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin and the least effective one was ceftazidime, whereas moxifloxacin, norfloxacin, gentamicin, azithromycin, moxif

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the histopathological examination of the testicular biopsies in infertile males with azoospermia. The patients were referred to the Urology Department in salah Alden Hospital. methods: The present study was carried out from may 2017 until June 2018 and the number of the patients group was 60. The patients aged between 20 to 50 years. 20 of them were selected and subjected to histopathological examinations by taking biopsies from their testes. Results: The sertoli-cell-only syndrome (SCOS) was the most common positive histopathological finding comprising 35% of the cases. This was followed by testicular atrophy with 30%, while maturation arrest was 20%. The percentage of hypospermatogenesis was 10% and normal spermatogenesis was 5%. Conclusion: Among the 20 specimens examined, the sertoli-cell-only syndrome (SCOS) was the most common positive histopathological finding. The semen analysis and testicular biopsy provide valuable information about the etiology and the fertility potential of an individual.

Background.-Studies on the infectious complications postengrafment in pediatr ic stem cell transplantation patients are rare. The aim of this study was to ass ess the incidence, types, outcome and factors affecting late infections. Patient s and methods. -A single-institution retrospective analysis was done of infect ions recorded in the first year following engrafment in children who underwent a utologous stem cell transplantation for solid tumors from January 1991 to Decemb er 2000. A systematic antimicrobial chemoprophylaxis of TmP/SmX was administered . Patients who were at high risk for varicellazona virus infection received prop hylactic acyclovir. Results. -Eighty-four assessable patients were enrolled. F ifty-four patients (64%) underwent autologous peripheral blood stem cell trans plantation and 30 patients (36%) underwent bone marrow transplantation. Forty- nine episodes of infections were documented in 39 patients(46%) of whom 27 pati ents (32%) developed infections after the first 100 days post transplantation. Bacterial septicemia occurred in nine patients of whom four patients had a cathe ter-related septicemia. Twelve patients (14%) developed localized herpes zoste r infection. Local fungal infection occurred in five patients. Infection-relate d death occurred in one patient with non-documented pneumonitis. Univariable an alysis showed a correlation between the CD34+cell dose ment of infections (P =0.04). Patients who did not go into remission after transplantation where at high risk for septicemia (P =0.007)-. multivariate ana lysis showed that a history of varicella or pretransplant varicella-zona positi vity was the only significant factor for development zoster infection (P =0.01). Genetic Diversity of the Palestinian Fig (<i>Ficus carica</i>L.) Collection by Pomological Traits and RAPD markers

Analysis of differentiation (genetic diversity and related relationships) among 22 landrace (Ficus carica L. sativa) and 2 wild form (F. carica L. caprificus) accessions of fig growing under the same environmental conditions in the Palestinian Fig Collection, Til, Nablus, Palestine, using PCR-based Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and pomological markers, revealed considerable genetic diversity. The phenotypic analysis shows that pomological traits were permitted to evaluate morphological variability of fig landraces. The Jaccard similarity coefficient between landraces was determined by cluster analysis using the UPGmA method. Based on the genetic relationships among genotypes as illustrated by the dendrograms, generated from pomological and RAPD data by UPGmA clustering method, the following 12 genotypes: Qaisi, mwazi, Barqawi, Inaqi, swadi, Kharobi, Hmadibiadi, Sfari, Khdari, Biadi, Qrawi, and Slati, may be considered as distinct landraces. The remaining genotypes may be considered as synonymous (4) (Hmadi and Hmari, and Ajloni and Adloni), or closely related (6) landraces (Zraqi and Ghzali, Blati and Neami, and Qraee and Khurtmani). The wild fig forms clustered together and may be considered as distinct genotypes. Clustering patterns obtained from the combined (pomological and RAPD) markers had higher discriminatory power to discriminate fig landraces than using either pomological or RAPD markers alone. These results proved the importance of both pomological and RAPD markers to elucidate in part denomination problems and relationships among cultivars. Wide phenotypic and molecular diversity found in fig germplasm indicates a considerable potential for improving this crop.

We report a case of pseudotumoral pelvic actinomycosis with lumbosacral spinal involvement in a 21 year-old woman. The radiological work-up showed a pseudotumoral left ovarian lesion extended to sacral spine, which involved the fifth lumbar vertebra. Diagnosis of actinomycosis was established in histopathological examination of the tubo-ovarian mass under laparotomy. After four months of treatment with ofloxacin and rifampicin evolution was marked by improvement of general health and infection, associated to a progressive recovery of motricity of the lower limbs. Early diagnosis of pelvic actinomycosis may prevent the occurrence of rare but severe neurological complications of this disease.
