Machine Learning Prediction Models of optimal Time for Aortic Valve Replacement in Asymptomatic Patients

Currently,the decision of aortic valve replacement surgery time for asymptomatic patients with moderate-to-severe aortic stenosis(AS)is made by healthcare professionals based on the patient’s clinical biometric records.A delay in surgical aortic valve replacement(SAVR)can potentially affect patients’quality of *** using ML algorithms,this study aims to predict the optimal SAVR timing and determine the enhancement in moderate-to-severe AS patient survival following *** study represents a novel approach that has the potential to improve decision-making and,ultimately,improve patient *** analyze data from 176 patients with moderate-to-severe aortic stenosis who had undergone or were indicated for *** divide the data into two groups:those who died within the first year after SAVR and those who survived for more than one year or were still alive at the last *** then use six different ML algorithms,Support Vector Machine(SVM),Classification and Regression Tree(C and R tree),Generalized Linear(GL),Chi-Square Automatic Interaction Detector(CHAID),Artificial Neural Net-work(ANN),and Linear Regression(LR),to generate predictions for the best timing for *** results showed that the SVM algorithm is the best model for predicting the optimal timing for SAVR and for predicting the post-surgery survival *** optimizing the timing of SAVR surgery using the SVM algorithm,we observed a significant improvement in the survival period after *** study demonstrates that ML algorithms generate reliable models for predicting the optimal timing of SAVR in asymptomatic patients with moderate-to-severe AS.

This work discusses the importance of monitoring and energy management of green energy resources in order to minimize the negative impacts of electricity generation by regular power *** paper introduces a highly efficient,low-cost rooftop photovoltaics(PV)solar panel system which can provide monitoring,controlling and *** proposed system is based on Internet of Things(IoT)and can be used to control different utilities in any premises automatically or set by the user-defined priority list,as compared to the existing IoT-based PV systems which can only perform monitoring and maintenance of the PV panels or only certain parameters,i.e.,temperature,dust,*** is a new step in improving the efficiency of IoT-based PV system where the facility loads are automated by the IoT *** proposed system can also provide a constant feedback about different parameters,i.e.,voltage,dust,sun irradiance and humidity,etc.,via low-cost open-source platforms for telemonitoring and controlling *** simulation results showthat the proposed system provides a high efficiency to energize the utilities and utilize the available energy as compared to the manual control.

Dolomite apatite separation by amphoteric collector in presence of bacteria

Bioflotation represents one of the growing trends to enhance the selectivity of conventional flotation processes. It utilizes the micro-organisms to replace or to interact with the chemical reagents to increase the gap between surface properties of similar minerals and to enhance the separation selectivity. In this work, dolomite-phosphate separation was investigated using amphoteric collector （dodecyl-N-carboxyethyl-N-hyroxyethyl-imidazoline） in presence of bacteria. Two types of bacteria, Corynebacterium- diphtheriae-intermedius （CDI）, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa （PA）, were used. The collector-bacteria interaction was characterized by Fourier transform infra-red （FTIR）, frothing height and Zeta potential. The results show that the collector-bacteria interaction improves the flotation selectivity. Although, the PA positively affects the separation results, the CDI cannot lower the Mgo to less than 1%. A phosphate content of 0.7% Mgo and 31.77% P205 with a recovery of 68% at pH 11, 3.0 kg/t amphoteric collector, 4× 10^7 cells of PA is obtained.

This paper describes the analysis and design of an assistive device for elderly people under development at the EgyptJapan University of Science and Technology（E-JUST） named E-JUST assistive device（EJAD）.Several experiments were carried out using a motion capture system（VICoN） and inertial sensors to identify the human posture during the sit-to-stand *** EJAD uses only two inertial measurement units（IMUs） fused through an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems（ANFIS） algorithm to imitate the real motion of the *** EJAD consists of two main parts,a robot arm and an active *** robot arm is a 2-degree-of-freedom（2-DoF） planar *** addition,a back support with a passive joint is used to support the patient s *** IMUs on the leg and trunk of the patient are used to compensate for and adapt to the EJAD system motion depending on the obtained patient *** ANFIS algorithm is used to train the fuzzy system that converts the IMUs signals to the right posture of the patient.A control scheme is proposed to control the system motion based on practical measurements taken from the experiments.A computer simulation showed a relatively good performance of the EJAD in assisting the patient.

Recommender systems are rapidly transforming the digital world into intelligent information *** valuable context information associated with the users’prior transactions has played a vital role in determining the user preferences for items or rating *** has been a hot research topic in collaborative filtering-based recommender systems for the last two *** paper presents a novel Context Based Rating Prediction(CBRP)model with a unique similarity scoring estimation *** proposed algorithm computes a context score for each candidate user to construct a similarity pool for the given subject user-item pair and intuitively choose the highly influential users to forecast the item *** context scoring strategy has an inherent capability to incorporate multiple conditional factors to filter down the most relevant *** with traditional similarity estimation methods,CBRP makes it possible for the full use of neighboring collaborators’choice on various *** conduct experiments on three publicly available datasets to evaluate our proposed method with random user-item pairs and got considerable improvement in prediction accuracy over the standard evaluation ***,we evaluate prediction accuracy for every user-item pair in the system and the results show that our proposed framework has outperformed existing methods.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis in Al Hassa, Saudi Arabia: Epidemiological trends from 2000 to 2010

objective: To study epidemiological trends related to cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) in Al Hassa, an endemic area in Saudi Arabia. Methods: This retrospective study included the spatial/ temporal analysis of the reported cases of CL using the available surveillance database for the disease at the regional Vector Control Unit, from 2000 to 2010. Results: The incidence of CL was declining at a stable rate especially during the last 3 years of the study (2008-2010). An interesting finding was the percentage of expatriates affected was increasing over the last 10 years compared to that of the Saudis. Conclusions: A definite declining trend in the incidence of CL was observed in Al Hassa. Further studies are warranted to assess whether special public health measures are needed for better control of CL in expatriate populations in Saudi Arabia.

Rare earth oxides doped Nio/γ-Al_2o_3 catalyst for oxidative dehydrogenation of cyclohexane

The effect of rare earth oxides （RE=Ce, La, Gd, and Dy） doping of alumina support in Nio/7-A1203 system was investi- gated on its catalytic performance in oxidative dehydrogenation （oDH） of cyclohexane. The physicochemical properties of various samples were followed up through N2 physisorption, temperature programmed reduction （H2-TPR）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） and potentiometric acid-base titration techniques. In the parent Nio/y-A1203 catalyst, Ni species were found to be strongly interacted with alumina surface. Addition of rare earth dopants to ）＇-A1203 in the catalyst system affected the nickel-alumina interaction and resulted in significant modifications in the catalytic performances in the oDH reaction. The results re- vealed the beneficial role of both La203 and Gd2os doping in enhancing the oDH catalytic activity and selectivity to cyclohexene. H2-TPR and XPS results indicated that majority of Ni species in Nio/La203 modified T-A1203 were more weakly interacted with La203 and alumina whereas both Nio like species and nickel aluminate were present on the surface. Doping with cerium or dyspro- sium increased the nickel-support interaction and led to a decrease in surface nickel concentration. In case of doping with Ce, surface concentration of cerium oxide was higher than those of the other RE oxides; the doped catalyst reached its steady state activity faster than the other catalysts. The acid-base results suggested that RE metals were interacted most likely with acidic surface hydroxyl groups. The degree of nickel-alumina interaction decreased in the following order： LaAI〉GdAI〉CeAI〉DyA1.

Human speech indirectly represents the mental state or emotion of *** use of Artificial Intelligence(AI)-based techniques may bring revolution in this modern era by recognizing emotion from *** this study,we introduced a robust method for emotion recognition from human speech using a well-performed preprocessing technique together with the deep learning-based mixed model consisting of Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)and Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).About 2800 audio files were extracted from the Toronto emotional speech set(TESS)database for this study.A high pass and Savitzky Golay Filter have been used to obtain noise-free as well as smooth audio data.A total of seven types of emotions;Angry,Disgust,Fear,Happy,Neutral,Pleasant-surprise,and Sad were used in this ***,Fundamental frequency,and Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient(MFCC)have been used to extract the emotion features,and these features resulted in 97.5%accuracy in the mixed LSTM+CNN *** mixed model is found to be performed better than the usual state-of-the-art models in emotion recognition from *** also indicates that this mixed model could be effectively utilized in advanced research dealing with sound processing.
