Sustained virological response based on rapid virological response in genotype-3 chronic hepatitis C treated with standard interferon in the Pakistani population

AIM:To document the sustained virological response (SVR) in rapid virological responders (RVR) of genotype-3 chronic hepatitis C with standard interferon (SdIF). METHODS:Hepatitis C genotype-3 patients during the period July 2006 and June 2007 were included. Complete blood counts, prothrombin time, ALT, albumin, qualitative HCV RNA were done. SdIF and ribavirin were given for 4 wk and qualitative HCV RNA was repeated. Those testing negative were allocated to group-A while the rest were allocated to group-B. Treatment was continued a total of 16 and 24 wk for group A and B respectively. HCV RNA was repeated after 24 wk of treatment. End virological and sustained virological responses were compared by χ2 test. ROC of pretreatment age, ALT and albumin were plotted for failure to achieve SVR. RESULTS:Of 74 patients treated, RCV RNA after 16 wk of therapy became undetectable in 34 (45.9%) and was detectable in 40 (54.1%) and were allocated to groups A and B respectively. SVR was achieved in 58.8% and 27.8% in groups A and B respectively. SVR rates were significantly higher in patients who had RVR as compared to those who did not (P = 0.0;γ = 2). Both groups combined ETR and SVR were 70% and 33% respectively. ROC plots of pretreatment age, ALT and albumin for SVR showed only ALT to have a significantly large area under the ***:SVR rates were higher in patients who had RVR with SdIF and high pre treatment ALT values correlated to probability of having RVR.

Correlation of p53 over-expression and alteration in p53 gene detected by polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism in adenocarcinoma of gastric cancer patients from India

AIM： To study the alterations in p53 gene among Indian gastric cancer patients and to correlate them with the various clinicopathological parameters. METHODS： A total of 103 gastric cancer patients were included in this study. The p53 alterations were studied by both immunohistochemical method as well as polymerase chain reaction （PCR）-single strand conformation polymorphism （SSCP） analysis. We only studied four （exon 5, 6, 7, and 8） of the 11 ,p53 exons. The alterations in p53 were also correlated with respect to various clinicopathological parameters. RESULTS： Among 103 cases, p53 over-expression and alteration were detected in 37 （35.92%） and 19 （18.44%） cases, respectively. Most of the ,p53 alterations were found at exon 5 （31.54%）, followed by exon 6 （26.31%）, exon 7 （21.04%） and exon 8 （21.04%）. A significant correlation of p53 overexpression was found with p53 alteration （P = 0.000）. Concordance between ,p53 alteration （as detected by SSCP） and over-expression [as detected by immunohistochemistry （IHC）] was found in 75% cases. We found that IHC-positive/SSCP-negative cases accounted for 21% of cases and IHC-negative/SSCP- positive cases accounted for remaining 4% cases. CONCLUSION： Our results show that p53 gene mutations are significantly correlated with p53 protein over-expression, with 75% concordance in over-expression and alteration in the p53 gene, but 25% disconcordance also cautions against the assumption that p53 over-expression is always associated with a gene mutation. There may be other mechanisms responsible for stabilization and accumulation of p53 protein with no evidence of gene mutation that reflect an accumulation of a non-mutated protein, or a false negative SSCP result.

Study the operating conditions on agglomeration of RDX particles in anti-solvent crystallization by using statistical optimization

The unfavorable growth and agglomeration of micro-particles of RDX explosive was almost observed in manufacture process. For preventing of growth of micro-particles and agglomeration in anti-solvent crystallization process, the effect of additives glucose, sucrose and poly ethylene glycol-2000 and wetting solvent of isopropyl alcohol were studied. Taguchi experimental design was used for optimization of the operating conditions. The type of additive, the amount of additive(%wt.), solvent of wetting and wetting time were selected for optimization of the conditions. By using 4 factor and 3 levels, 27 experiments were conducted(L27). Results showed that in the presence of 2 %wt. of sucrose additive and isopropyl alcohol solvent, the agglomerations of particles were decreased so that a decrease 30-50% in the average of particles size was seen. Addition additives were effective in storage container and for reduce the agglomeration of particles during storage. Also, the agglomeration rate of particles was reduced over time at optimized conditions. Imaging optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and particle size analyzer(PSA) methods were used for particles size analyzing as a response in statistical optimization and quality control of the final product. The sensitivity to some mechanical and shock stimuli on the RDX in presence of sucrose additive was tested and the obtained results showed the insignificant effect of additive on the safety properties of pure RDX.

In this paper,we demonstrate a computationally efficient new approach based on deep learning(DL)techniques for analysis,design and optimization of electromagnetic(EM)*** use the strong correlation among features of a generic EM problem to considerably reduce the dimensionality of the problem and thus,the computational complexity,without imposing considerable *** employing the dimensionality reduction concept using the more recently demonstrated autoencoder technique,we redefine the conventional many-to-one design problem in EM nanostructures into a one-to-one problem plus a much simpler many-to-one problem,which can be simply solved using an analytic formulation.

In this paper,we use the symmetry of the Lie group analysis as one of the powerful tools that deals with the wide class of fractional order differential equations in the Riemann–Liouville *** this study,first,we employ the classical and nonclassical Lie symmetries(LS)to acquire similarity reductions of the nonlinear fractional far field Korteweg–de Vries(KdV)equation,and second,we find the related exact solutions for the derived ***,according to the LS generators acquired,we construct conservation laws for related classical and nonclassical vector fields of the fractional far field KdV equation.

Phosphorite organic-rich sediments from Weng’an Doushantuo Formation preserves earliest animals and multicellular life,though it has been investigated by many researchers but in terms of biomarker analysis still need to be *** we have applied various specific aliphatic and aromatic biomarkers（Molecular fossils）parameters with stable carbon isotope *** biomarker investigation of sixteen phosphoritic rocks from Weng’an Doushantuo Formation,Guizhou,South China,was carried out to identify the paleo-depositional environment,source of its organic matter and thermal maturity by using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry（GC-MS/MS）.Particular care was taken while doing geochemical analysis in order to get rid of possible *** results indicates the source rock extracts from Weng’an Doushantuo Formation have similarity in molecular *** the studied samples have a lower amount of TOC,ranging from 0.07%to 0.58%.Molecular fossils revealed that the source input of organic matter was mainly derived from eukaryotic algae,including dinoflagellates（or their ancestors）,demosponges as confirmed by the presence of dinosteranes,C

Soil hydraulic properties were mainly governed by soil structures especially when the structures is full of the connected soil ***,the good hydrological models need to be well documented for revealing the process of soil water movement affected by soil *** Hydrus-2D model with double domain was recommended in simulating water movement in a heterogeneous medium of *** evaluate the performance of the double domain Hydrus-2D model in loess soil,the dynamic of soil wetting front movement in differential loess soil columns under the constant water head were observed and the processes was simulated by Hydrus-2D model under conditions of different soil *** results indicated that the Hydrus-2D model was quite good in simulation of loess soil water movements,and the relative errors of simulation results are less than 15%,MRE less than 5%,and R^(2)>*** results provided the appropriate infiltration parameters of loess soil.

Deposition kinetics and mechanism of pyrocarbon for electromagnetic-coupling chemical vapor infiltration process

Although the electromagnetic-coupling chemical vapor infiltration(E-CVI)has been proven of a highefficiency technique for producing carbon fiber reinforced pyrocarbon(Py C)matrix(C/C)composites,a deep understanding of the deposition kinetics and mechanism of Py C matrix is still *** this work,a deposition model with uniform electric field but gradient magnetic field was set up by using unidirectional carbon fiber bundles as the substrates to investigate the deposition kinetics and ***,the polarizability,and the chemical adsorption and dehydrogenation barriers of hydrocarbon were simulated based on the density functional theory(DFT)and the Climb-image nudged elastic band method,*** E-CVI process exhibited extremely high Py C deposition rates of 8.7,11.5,16.5 and 22.7 nm/s at 700,750,800 and 850℃,respectively,together with a significantly low apparent activation energy of 57.9 k J/mol within the first 5 *** Py C deposited at different temperatures with different time shows a smooth laminar structure with low coherent length and graphitization *** theoretical calculation and simulation results indicated that the electrons existing on the carbon fibers and the accelerated motion of radicals with preferred orientation forced by the derived magnetic field have reduced the energy barrier for the deposition process,thereby resulting in low apparent activation energy and high Py C deposition *** results of this work may shed a light on how to better direct the preparation of C/C composites by E-CVI process with high quality and efficiency.

Hydrometallurgical leaching and kinetic modeling of low-grade manganese ore with banana peel in sulfuric acid

Manganese was leached from a low-grade manganese ore(LGMO)using banana peel as the reductant in a dilute sulfuric acid *** effects of banana peel amount,H2SO4 concentration,reaction temperature,and time on Mn leaching from the complex LGMO were studied.A leaching efficiency of~98%was achieved at a leaching time of 2 h,banana peel amount of 4 g,leaching temperature of 120°C,manganese ore amount of 5 g,and sulfuric acid concentration of 15vol%.The phase,microstructural,and chemical analyses of LGMO samples before and after the leaching process confirmed the successful leaching of ***,the leaching process followed the shrinking core model and the leaching rate was controlled by a surface chemical reaction(1−(1−x)^1/3=kt)mechanism with an apparent activation energy of 40.19 kJ·mol^−1.
