Short-term renal and patient outcomes of primary immunoglobulinassociated mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis:Insights from a developing country

BACKGROUND Primary immunoglobulin(Ig)-associated mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis(Ig-MCGN)is an immune complex glomerulonephritis of unknown *** is a common cause of chronic kidney disease in developing *** is limited data available on renal and patient outcomes of this disease from developing *** To determine the short-term renal and patient outcomes of adults with a tissueconfirmed diagnosis of primary Ig-MCGN at a single center in *** A retrospective cohort study of adult patients was conducted on biopsy-proven Ig-MCGN cases diagnosed between 1998 and 2019 at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation,Karachi,*** causes were *** primary endpoint was renal survival without end-stage kidney disease(ESKD)or *** secondary endpoint was the rate of remission during the 2-year follow-up *** curves were made with the use of Kaplan-Meier *** A total of 163 patients were included in the study and their mean follow-up duration was 29.45 months±21.28 *** baseline characteristics,young age,lower estimated glomerular filtration rate,requirement of kidney replacement therapy,presence of crescents,and severity of interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy were found to have a significant association with renal *** renal outcomes were negatively correlated with the presence of hypertension,level of complements,and degree of *** all,63(37.4%)patients were treated with steroids and 21(13%)received combination therapy(cyclophosphamide with steroids).At 2 years,124(76.07%)patients were in complete remission or partial remission[56(34.3%)and 68(41.71%),respectively],while 32(19.63%)patients progressed to ESKD and 7(4.29%)patients *** The outcomes of primary Ig-MCGN are guarded in Pakistan and require further prospective studies to improve our understanding of this relatively common disease so that more personalized treatment approac

Nanosecond pulse and dual-wavelength Q-switched 1.5 μm fiber laser using MAX phase Cr2TiAlC2 saturable absorber

We demonstrated a new type of MAX phase material, chromium titanium aluminum carbide（Cr2TiAlC2） polymer film, to generate a passively Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser（EDFL）. The film thickness was measured to be around 45 μm, which was fabricated using the embedding method with polyvinyl alcohol（PVA） polymer as hoster. The saturable absorber（SA） film demonstrates a dual-wavelength passively Q-switched EDFL which operates at 1 531 nm and 1 560.19 nm, respectively. The Q-switching pulse duration could be varied from 2.46 μs to 770 ns, while the repetition rate varied from 92.76 kHz to 106.6 kHz with an increasing input pumping range from 154 mW to 300 mW. The maximum output power and pulse energy of 15.05 mW and 141.18 nJ were obtained at the maximum input power of 300 mW, respectively.

The promising solar irradiated photocatalyst by pairing of bismuth oxide quantum dots(BQDs)doped TiO_(2)with nitrogen doped graphene oxide(NGO)nanocomposite(NGO/BQDs-TiO_(2))was *** was used for degradation of organic pollutants like 2,4-dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP)and stable dyes,*** B and Congo Red.X-ray diffraction(XRD)profile of NGO showed reduction in oxygenic functional groups and restoring of graphitic crystal *** characteristic diffraction peaks of TiO_(2)and its composites showed crystalline anatase TiO_(2).Morphological images represent spherical shaped TiO_(2)evenly covered with BQDs spread on NGO *** surface linkages of NO-O-Ti,C-O-Ti,Bi-O-Ti and vibrational modes are observed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and Raman *** and NGO modified TiO_(2)results into red shifting in visible region as studied in diffused reflectance spectroscopy(DRS).NGO and BQDs in TiO_(2)are linked with defect centers which reduced the recombination of free charge carriers by quenching of photoluminescence(PL)intensities.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)shows that no peak related to C-O in NGO/BQDs-TiO_(2)is *** indicated that doping of nitrogen into GO has reduced some oxygen functional *** functionalities in NGO and photosensitizing effect of BQDs in ternary composite have improved photocatalytic activity against organic *** byproducts during photo degradation process of 2,4-DCP were studied through high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC).Study of radical scavengers indicated that O_(2)^(·-) has significant role for degradation of 2,*** investigations propose that fabricated nanohybrid architecture has potential for degradation of environmental pollutions.

Visual object tracking （VOT） is an important sub- field of computer vision. It has widespread application do- mains, and has been considered as an important part of surveillance and security system. VOA facilitates finding the position of target in image coordinates of video frames. While doing this, VOA also faces many challenges such as noise, clutter, occlusion, rapid change in object appearances, highly maneuvered （complex） object motion, illumination changes. In recent years, VOT has made significant progress due to availability of low-cost high-quality video cameras as well as fast computational resources, and many modern techniques have been proposed to handle the challenges faced by VOT. This article introduces the readers to 1） VOT and its applica- tions in other domains, 2） different issues which arise in it, 3） various classical as well as contemporary approaches for object tracking, 4） evaluation methodologies for VOT, and 5） online resources, i.e., annotated datasets and source code available for various tracking techniques.

Influence of biomass density and food to microorganisms ratio on the mixed culture type I methanotrophs enriched from activated sludge

Methanotrophic based process can be the remedy to offset the wastewater treatment facilities increasing energy requirements due to methanotroph＇s unique ability to integrate methane assimilation with multiple biotechnological applications like biological nitrogen removal and methanol production. Regardless of the methanotrophic process end product, the challenge to maintain stable microbial growth in the methanotrophs cultivation bioreactor at higher cell densities is one of the major obstacles facing the process upscaling. Therefore, a series of consecutive batch tests were performed to attentively investigate the biomass density influence on type I methanotrophs bacterial growth. In addition, food to microorganisms（F/M）, carbon to nitrogen（C/N） and nitrogen to microorganisms（N/M） ratio effect on the microbial activity was studied for the first time. It was clarified that the F/M ratio is the most influencing factor on the microbial growth at higher biomass densities rather than the biomass density increase, whereas C/N and N/M ratio change, while using nitrate as the nitrogen source,does not influence methanotrophs microbial growth. These study results would facilitate the scaling up of methanotrophic based biotechnology by identifying that F/M ratio as the key parameter that influences methanotrophs cultivation at high biomass densities.

Service composition is an important and effective technique that enables atomic services to be combined together to forma more powerful service,i.e.,a composite *** the pervasiveness of the Internet and the proliferation of interconnected computing devices,it is essential that service composition embraces an adaptive service provisioning *** learning has emerged as a powerful tool to compose and adapt Web services in open and dynamic ***,the most common applications of reinforcement learning algorithms are relatively inefficient in their use of the interaction experience data,whichmay affect the stability of the learning process when deployed to cloud *** particular,they make just one learning update for each interaction *** paper introduces a novel approach that aims to achieve greater data efficiency by saving the experience data and using it in aggregate to make updates to the learned *** proposed approach devises an offline learning scheme for cloud service composition where the online learning task is transformed into a series of supervised learning tasks.A set of algorithms is proposed under this scheme in order to facilitate and empower efficient service composition in the cloud under various policies and different *** results of our experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed approach for composing and adapting cloud services,especially under dynamic environment settings,compared to their online learning counterparts.

CTAB-assisted fabrication of hierarchical flower-like magnesium oxide adsorbent for enhanced removal performance towards phosphate

In this work, a series of hierarchical flower-like magnesium oxide(MgO) adsorbents were successfully fabricated in a cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB) assisted solvothermal route using hexamethylenetetramine(HMTA) as a precipitating agent. Effects of CTAB feeding amount on the structure, morphology, pore structure, and corresponding adsorption behavior were investigated. The hierarchical gardenias flower-like MgO demonstrated a surface area of 336.54 m^(2)·g^(-1) at a minimum ratio of the CTAB/Mg^(2+)was 0.02 in the reaction system. The hierarchical MgO phosphate removal capacity was 348.32 mg·g^(-1), which followed the pseudo-second-order and Freundlich isotherm model obtained from the large surface area and appropriate pore size. The value of n also suggests the feasible nature of phosphate adsorption under the examined conditions. Indeed, this CTAB assisted solvothermal method can provide a new understanding to tune the desired properties of a material by merely adjusting the reaction parameters of MgO.
