Identification of germ cell markers in fishes is crucial to track the germ cell differentiation and migration for manipulation of the cells to study sexual differentiation as well as to carry out transgenic transplantation *** germ cell-specific markers such as vasa,cnbp,dnd,nanos3,cbx2,amh,dmrt1,Ly75/CD205 have been characterized so far in fishes using localization and expression analysis,which have highlighted the spatio-temporal pattern of expression in early gonadal ***,seasonal breeders show dramatic changes during gonadal recrudescence,which might also influence germ cell differentiation and growth to entrain the reproductive ***,an in-depth analysis of the gonadal cycle is required to delineate germ cell progress,differentiation,and maturation *** this context,fishes undergoing gonadal recrudescence for the seasonal cycle show germ cell proliferation *** of these germ cell markers belong to the DEAD-box protein family of ATP-dependent RNA helicases sharing consensus motifs and clustering in phylogenetic *** markers were found to be well-conserved throughout *** situ hybridization approaches confirmed the germ cell specific distribution of these molecular *** addition,several genes such as fgf and gsdf seem to facilitate germ cell development and ***,more detailed studies on these factors will facilitate a better understanding of germ cell *** review highlights various germ cell markers in fishes and their immense potential to use these cells for germ cell *** extensive knowledge of the germ cell markers can also be exploited to carry out other biotechnological experiments aiming at the preservation of genetic information of endangered species or the analytical study of gonadogenesis.

Laser induced breakdown Spectroscopy(LIBS)was applied for the elemental analysis and exposure of the heavy metals in betel leaves in *** Nd∶YAG(1064 nm)in conjunction with a suitable detector(LIBS 2000+,Ocean Optics,Inc)having the optical resolution of 0.06 nm was used to record the emission spectra from 220 to 720 *** like Al,Ba,Ca,Cr,Cu,P,Fe,K,Mg,Mn,Na,P,S,Sr,and Zn were found to present in the *** relative abundances of the observed elements were calculated through standard calibration curve method,integrated intensity ratio method,and weight percentage LIBS *** findings were validated by comparing its results with the results obtained using a typical analytical technique of Inductively Coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy(ICP-OES).Limit of detection(LOD)of the LIBS system was also estimated for heavy *** experience gain through this work implies that LIBS could be highly applicable for testing the quality and purity of food products.

Metal complexes of ciprofloxacin were synthesized to study the effect of the drug on the metals present in the body or metals co-administered as multivitamin therapy. These complexes were then characterized by IR, UV, 1 H NMR, CHN and AA analyses. It was found that the metals coordinated through the β-keto carboxylic group, forming four coordinated complexes having square planar geometry. The effect of the antibacterial activity of these complexes with respect to parent drug was also studied against 14 different Gram + ve and Gram – ve organisms by the disk susceptibility technique. Some complexes showed improve activity as compared with the stated drug.

The Atlantic tripletail(Lobotes surinamensis)is a high revenue-generating fish species predominantly caught by mechanized artisanal fishers community and the most available member of its family in *** is a ground work of fish stock assessment study in the Bay of Bengal region to explore the life history parameters and associated biomass of this species,using three length-based approaches of TropFishR,the length-based Bayesian biomass estimation(LBB),and Froese’s length based indicators(LBIs).An almost homogenous body growth pattern(b=3.07;R^(2)=0.98)was observed in the length-weight relationship of *** life history parameters for tripletail,as determined by the von Bertalanffy Growth Function(VBGF)model,were L_(∞)=113.36 cm and k=0.51/*** length converted catch curve(LCCC)yielded an estimation of the total mortality(Z=1.77/a),with the natural mortality estimated at(M=0.53/a)and the fishing mortality estimated at(F=1.24/a).But,the ratio of mortality(F/M=0.15)by LBB captured the non-fully exploited status of biomass(B/B_(MSY)=2.1).LBI analysis indicated that the tripletail fishery’s spawning stock biomass is greater than the target and limit reference points,indicating a healthy state of biomass.

Objective: To explore the presence of Zika virus(ZIKV) in Bangladesh and to understand the associated risk ***: A retrospective sero-surveillance was performed on stored serum samples of dengue surveillance conducted from 2013 to 2016. Real time RT-PCR was performed on randomly selected acute serum samples to detect the Zika virus nucleic ***: Of 200 samples screened, one was found positive for ZIKV by real time RTPCR and further confirmed by genome sequencing. The case was a 65 years old male from a metropolitan city of Bangladesh who had no history of travel outside *** analysis of partial E gene sequences from Bangladeshi isolates demonstrated a close relationship with ZIKV from Brazil and current South American strains clustering within a monophyletic clade distinct from African ***: Presence of ZIKV raises serious public health concerns in Bangladesh owing to its association with congenital anomalies/neurological-manifestations. We,therefore, recommend every suspected viral fever patient, particularly pregnant women be screened for ZIKV infection to rule out yet another emerging infection in Bangladesh.

Effects of fertilizer management practices on leaf yield and quality of mulberry plant are important for sustainable mulberry plant *** study was undertaken to improve the growth,yield and biochemical contents in an instant available form in mulberry plant through different fertilizer management *** were four fertilizer management practices like control(CT),basal(BS),urea+magic growth(UM)and basal+urea+magic growth(BUM)were applied on mulberry plant(Morus SPP.).Results of this investigation revealed that among the various fertilizer treatments on the foliar application of(3 g urea+3 mL magic growth)per liter water with BSRTI recommended BS of NPK performed well in respect of growth parameters and biochemical *** highest 10 leaf area(638.64 cm^(2)),leaf number per branch(50),total leaf weight per plant(785.64 g),node per meter(28.67),specific leaf weight(0.005817 g/cm^(2)),length of longest shoot(173.25 cm)and total leaf yield per hectare per year(41610 kg)were noticed in BUM treatment followed by UM,BS and CT *** the highest moisture(74.38%),moisture retention capacity(33.31%),total mineral(12.10%),total sugar(3.99%),reducing sugar(4.05%),crude protein(21.01%),starch(9.72%)and soluble carbohydrate(11.41%)were also recorded in BUM treatment as compare to UM,BS and CT *** outcome of research implies that among the four fertilizer management practices foliar spray of(3 g urea+3 mL magic growth)per liter water with BSRTI recommended BS dose of NPK performed well and successfully augments the productivity and biochemical constituents of mulberry plant.

Aims:This study aims to explore the association between drinking water salinity and hypertension in three coastal sub-districts of ***:The study uses complete data on 6,296 individuals extracted from the latest Bangladesh Poverty and Groundwater Salinity Survey and a mixed-effects logistic regression model as the analytical ***:Mixed-effects logistic regression analysis shows a significant association of medium or higherlevel salinity with hypertension(adjusted odds ratio[AOR]1.650,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.101—2.473).Other variables significantly associated with hypertension are age,sex,education status,water source,and geographical location.A sizable proportion of the total individual-level variance in the probability of being hypertensive was at household-level(20%)and cluster-level(8%).Conclusion:The findings from this study suggest that greater salinity in potable water common in coastal areas in Bangladesh is associated with increased risk of *** study refrains from asserting causality but seeks to stimulate public health and policy interventions to address the increased risk.

Chickpea(Cicer arietinum L.) and pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan L.(Millsp.)] play an important role in mitigating protein malnutrition for millions of poor vegetarians living in regions of the semi-arid tropics. Abiotic stresses such as excess and limited soil moisture(water-logging and drought), heat and chilling(high and low temperature stresses), soil salinity, and acidity are major yield constraints, as these two crops are grown mostly under rainfed conditions in risk-prone marginal and degraded lands with few or no inputs. Losses due to such stresses vary from 30% to 100% depending on their severity. The literature abounds in basic information concerning screening techniques, physiological mechanisms, and genetics of traits associated with resistance/tolerance to abiotic stresses in these two crops. However, the final outcome in terms of resistant/tolerant varieties has been far from satisfactory. This situation calls for improving selection efficiency through precise phenotyping and genotyping under high-throughput controlled conditions using modern tools of genomics. In this review, we suggest that an integrated approach combining advances from genetics, physiology, and biotechnology needs to be used for higher precision and efficiency of breeding programs aimed at improving abiotic stress tolerance in both chickpea and pigeonpea.
