Stable Fano-like plasmonic resonance: its impact on the reversal of far-and near-field optical binding force

Even for a 100 nm interparticle distance or a small change in particle shape,optical Fano-like plasmonic resonance mode usually vanishes *** would be remarkable if stable Fano-like resonance could somehow be achieved in distinctly shaped nanoparticles for more than 1μm interparticle distance,which corresponds to the far electromagnetic field *** such far-field Fano-like plasmonic resonance can be achieved,controlling the reversal of the far-field binding force can be attained,like the currently reported reversals for near-field *** this work,we have proposed an optical set-up to achieve such a robust and stable Fano-like plasmonic resonance,and comparatively studied its remarkable impact on controlling the reversal of near-and far-field optical binding *** our proposed set-up,the distinctly shaped plasmonic tetramers are half immersed(***-benzene)in an inhomogeneous dielectric interface and illuminated by?circular?polarized *** have demonstrated significant differences between near-and far-field optical binding forces along with the Lorentz force field,which partially depends on the object’s shape.A clear connection is shown between the far-field binding force and the resonant modes,along with a generic mechanism to achieve controllable Fano-like plasmonic resonance and the reversal of the optical binding force in both far-and near-field configurations.

On chip chiral and plasmonic hybrid dimer or tetramer:Generic way to reverse longitudinal and lateral optical binding forces

For both the longitudinal binding force and the lateral binding force,a generic way of controlling the mutual attraction and repulsion(usually referred to as reversal of optical binding force)between chiral and plasmonic hybrid dimers or tetramers has not been reported so *** this paper,by using a simple plane wave and an onchip configuration,we propose a possible generic way to control the binding force for such hybrid objects in both the near-field region and the far-field *** also investigate different inter-particle distances while varying the wavelengths of light for each inter-particle distance throughout the *** of all,for the case of longitudinal binding force,we find that chiral-plasmonic hybrid dimer pairs do not exhibit any reversal of optical binding force in the near-field region nor in the far-field region when the wavelength of light is varied in an air ***,when the same hybrid system of nanoparticles is placed over a plasmonic substrate,a possible chip,it is possible to achieve a reversal of the longitudinal optical binding ***,for the case of lateral optical binding force,we investigate a setup where we place the chiral and plasmonic tetramers on a plasmonic substrate by using two chiral nanoparticles and two plasmonic nanoparticles,with the setup illuminated by a circularly polarized plane *** applying the left-handed and the right-handed circular polarization state of light,we also observe the near-field and the far-field reversal of lateral optical binding force for both *** far as we know,so far,no work has been reported in the literature on the generic way of reversing the longitudinal optical binding force and the lateral optical binding force of such hybrid *** a generic way of controlling optical binding forces can have important applications in different fields of science and technology in the near future.

The electrolysis of water for hydrogen generation has shown immense promise as an energy conversion technology for the green energy *** concurrently occurring electrochemical reactions in water electrolysis(hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions)are sluggish in nature and therefore the employment of electrocatalysts is highly ***-metal-based electrocatalysts(Pt,Ru O_(2),Ir O_(2),etc.)have shown superior activity towards these ***,their lower natural abundance and inferior stability make the cost to performance ratio of water electrolysis too ***,huge amount of research efforts are being carried out to develop electrocatalysts consisting of earth abundant elements(transition metals,carbon etc.)as the replacement of these noble-metal-based *** metal compounds,carbonaceous and hybrid materials have shown promise as efficient electrocatalysts but there is still huge gap between the activities of these materials and the noble-metal-based *** strategies like morphology modulation,elemental doping,defect engineering *** being deployed to enhance the activity of these noble-metal-free *** review summarizes these strategies and thoroughly discusses the reason behind the changes in activity of the electrocatalysts owing to these ***,the remaining research gaps and future prospects in this field are also discussed in detail.

Mineralogy and carbothermal reduction behaviour of vanadium-bearing titaniferous magnetite ore in Eastern India

Vanadium-beaxing titaniferous magnetite bands hosted by Precambrian gabbro-norite-anorthositic rocks or their metamorphic equivalents were discovered in some parts of Eastern Indian Shield, containing 48%-49% Fe （total）, 10%-25% TiO2, and 0.3%-2.20% V2O5 by mass. Mineralogical and petrological study, composition, and characterization of the vanadium-bearing titaniferous magnetite ore were carried out by scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray （SEM-EDX）, wave length X-ray florescence （WDXRF）, inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy （ICP-AES）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, etc. Chemical beneficiation for valuable metals, such as Fe, Ti, andV, was performed by reduction roasting. The direct and indirect reduction were investigated by mixing the lump ore with solid activated charcoal in a closed reactor and purging the reducing gas mixture in standard reducibility index apparatus at different temperatures and time intervals. The reduction roasting parameters were optimized. Finally, the reduced samples were crushed and upgraded by magnetic separation. The results show that, the maximum mass fractions of magnetic and nonmagnetic parts achieved axe 69.36% and 30.64%, respectively, which contain 10.6% TiO2 and 0.84% V205 in the magnetic part and 36.5% TiO2 and 0.22% V205 in the nonmagnetic part.

Predictors of severity and outcome and roles of intravenous thrombolysis and biomarkers in first ischemic stroke

Aim: Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability. The proportion of patients receiving recombinant tissue plasminogen activator is low in our country. Biomarkers to identify patients at risk of severe disease, and guide treatment and prognosis would be valuable. This article aims to identify the factors that can independently prognosticate the acute phase of ischemic stroke. Methods: All patients with the first episode of ischemic stroke admitted to the Neurology Department between 1st December 2017 to 31st March 2018 were included in this pilot study. Stroke severity was evaluated using the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Patients being admitted within 4.5 h of onset of symptoms were thrombolysed with injection alteplase. For each patient, 4 serum biomarkers (D-dimer, fibrinogen, C-reactive pro-tein and neuron specific enolase) were evaluated at admission and 24 h later. Discharged patients were assessed on an outpatient basis using the modified Rankin scale. The study primarily aimed to identify the factors predicting the severity and outcome of stroke, and to evaluate the effect of thrombolysis on the outcome. The secondary aim was to evaluate the role of biomarkers to predict the unfavorable outcome and the chance of post thrombolysis hemor-rhage. Results: Out of 30 patients included in the study, 10 had NIHSS 0-4, 12 had NIHSS 5-15 and 8 had NIHSS 16-42. Sixteen patients had unfavorable outcome (mRS score ≥ 2), and 5 patients expired. Old age, history of diabetes, CHADS2 score ≥ 2, and total anterior circulation stroke (TACS) independently affected stroke severity, whereas lowejection fraction < 35%, and TACS, independently predicted unfavorable outcome and mortality. High mean arte-rial blood pressure (MABP) and capillary blood glucose (CBG) at admission were significant predictors of stroke severity, unfavorable outcome, and mortality. Artificial Seed Production of Tylophora indica for Interim Storing and Swapping of Germplasm

Our research work demonstrates the single bead alginate-encapsulation, interim storing and conversion of Tylophora indica(Burm. Fil.) *** effective encapsulation of in vitro nodal segments [(4 ± 1) mm long], ensuing in sphere-shaped artificial seeds of similar morphology, was achieved through 75 mmol·L^(-1)calcium chloride(CaCl_2 · 2H_2O) plus 3%(w/v) Na-alginate with 93.3% conversion frequency. The earliest conversion(within 7 days of incubation) of artificial seeds occurred in half-strength liquid Murashige and Skoog medium. Among the three different temperature regimes [(5 ± 1) °C,(15 ± 1) °C, and(25 ± 1) °C], storage of artificial seeds at(15 ± 1) °C executed the highest frequency of conversion(90%) after 15 days of storage. Lengthier storage significantly reduced the conversion frequency of artificial seeds irrespective of storage temperature. Nevertheless, the conversion frequency after 30 days of storage at(15 ± 1) °C was recorded at 70% without further decline even following45 days of storage, which evidently suggests that lower temperature(15 ± 1) °C is apt for storage and subsequent conversion of T. indica artificial seeds. The present protocol could be expedient for short-term storing and swapping of T. indica germplasms between national and international laboratories.
