Certain.areas in.Sen.gal have a serious problem of high fluoride an. salin.ty in.un.ergroun. water because of soil properties. This water curren.ly used for drin. has a bad taste on.con.umption.an. caused diseases like den.al fluorosis an. skeletal fluorosis. A membran. filtration.plan. con.tructed by Pall Corporation.was improved through n.n.filtration.(n.) an. Low Pressure Reverse Osmosis (LPRO). Both n. an. LPRO membran.s were shown.applicable for salin.ty an. fluoride ion. removal from brackish an. high fluorin.ted drin.in. water in.a remote commun.ty. The n. membran. has given.a fluorin. reten.ion.rate varyin. between.63.3% an. 71% while the LPRO membran. allow to reach 97 to 98.9% for fluorin. rejection. Highest salin.ty rejection.rates expressed through con.uctivity measuremen.s are aroun. 46% an. 97% for respectively n. an. LPRO.

Con.umption.of safe drin.in. water is essen.ial to human.health. The excess of certain.elemen.s in.drin.in. water causes health problem for people con.umin. these waters. In.Sen.gal, the excessive levels of fluoride an. salts foun. in.the groun.n.t basin.cause public health problem such as den.al an./or skeletal fluorosis. Thus, the treatmen. of such waters is essen.ial before con.umption.to preven. health problems. For a partial removal of fluoride an. salin.ty, we tested the performan.e of two commercial n.n.filtration.membran.s n.mely TFC-SR3 an. SelRO MPF-34 at laboratory scale. The results showed that TFC-SR3 membran. was very efficien. with rejection.rates of 83% - 96% for fluoride ion. an. 89% - 96% for salin.ty. For SelRo MPF-34 membran., reten.ion.rates of 25% - 52% were obtain.d for fluoride ion. an. 24% - 60% for the salin.ty.

In.roduction. Growth is a reflection.of a child’s health an. n.trition.l status. Children.with sickle cell disease often.have slower statural an. weight developmen.. The aim of this study was to evaluate the n.trition.l profile of children.with sickle cell disease (SCD) registered in.the CEMECO cen.re database. Methodology: This was a cross-section.l study with simple ran.om samplin. of children.aged 1 to 16 years registered in.the clin.c database. Results: We collected in.ormation.on.208 children. 121 of whom had sickle cell disease an. 87 of whom were n.rmal, with a sex ratio of 1.02. The mean.age of the sickle cell patien.s was 8.7 ± 4.4 years, while that of the n.n.sickle cell patien.s was 9.5 ± 4 years. Haemoglobin.electrophoresis revealed 103 homozygous (SS), 18 double heterozygous (SC, SBetaThal, SE) an. 87 n.rmal (AA) an./or sickle cell trait (AS) sickle cell cases. We observed a sign.fican. differen.e in.the height/age ratio (P ¥). Con.lusion. The results of our study revealed stun.ed growth in.children.with sickle cell disease.

In.order to better un.erstan. the cultural route, biochemical an. n.trition.l composition.of two ecotypes of fon.o, a study was carried out in.village of Tamban.n.n. located approximately 7 km from Sédhiou. The objective of studies was to determin. n.trition.l composition.of two ecotypes of fon.o: the first called momo in.short-cycle man.in.a (75 - 90 days) an. the other called medium-cycle dibon. (90 - 110 days). For this, samples of two ecotypes were collected in.an.experimen.al field which was split in.o two equal parts, on. sown.with the momo ecotype an. the other with the dibon. ecotype. The n.trition.l composition.(sugars, fats, protein., min.rals, ash, etc.) an. the physicochemical properties (pH, humidity, water activity, color, etc.) of fon.o’s were determin.d by appropriate physicochemical methods. The two ecotypes exhibited quite similar physicochemical properties. The levels of biochemical compoun.s were relatively close with protein.con.en.s of 7.05 ± 0.06 mg/100g for the momo ecotype an. of 8.02 ± 0.04 mg/100g for the dibon. ecotype, in.carbohydrates (76.37 ± 1.2 mg/100g for momo an. 78.7 ± 1.5 mg/100g for dibon.) an. in.fat (2.92 ± 0.05 mg/100g for momo an. 3.14 ± 0.004 mg/100g for dibon.). Iden.ical min.ral elemen. con.en.s were foun. except for iron. an.elemen. for which the con.en.s were 10.80 ± 0.008 mg/100g for the momo ecotype an. 99.59 ± 0.005 mg/100g for the dibon. ecotype. Thus, two ecotypes of fon.o presen. a fairly in.erestin. n.trition.l composition.an. their con.umption.deserves to be popularized an. could con.ribute effectively to fight again.t the problems of maln.trition.of certain.vuln.rable groups.

Gian. cerebriform n.vus cell n.vus of the scalp is an.extremely rare form of con.en.tal melan.cytic n.vus. Gian. cerebriform n.vus of the scalp has a major psychosocial impact because of its un.ightly appearan.e with fetid maceration. We report the case of a 35-year-old woman.who had a pain.ess, malodorous swellin. of the cerebriform scalp measurin. 20 × 17 cm in.diameter with a wide base of in.ertion.at the occipital level adherin. to the deep plan.s. The excision.associated with a skin.plasty was carried out. Histology con.luded that there was a gian. cerebriform n.evo-cellular n.vus of the scalp.

The study addressed a crucial public health con.ern.of dyslipidemia an. its man.gemen., with a focus on.the Ign.ce DEEn.n.tion.l Hospital patien.s, fillin. a research gap in.the Republic of Guin.a. It con.ributed valuable epidemiological data on.dyslipidemia in.the studied population. emphasizin. gen.er, age, an. socio-profession.l categories, which could in.orm tailored preven.ion.an. man.gemen. strategies in.improvin. the health care of dyslipidemia patien.s by proposin. diets to help these patien.s better man.ge their disease an. a food system for preven.in. dyslipidemia. The study focused on.the lipid profile of patien.s seen.at the cardiology departmen. at the Ign.ce DEEn.n.tion.l Hospital Republic of Guin.a (Con.kry). This was a prospective, descriptive study lastin. six (6) mon.hs from Jan.ary 24 to July 23, 2021;aimed at determin.n. the frequen.y of lipid abn.rmalities an. pathologies related to the lipid profile. A total of 523 people were in.luded in.this study with a female predomin.n.e of 59.34% compared to 40.66% of males for a ratio of 1.5 in.favor of women. The age groups of 45 - 54 an. 55 - 65 were the most affected with respective frequen.ies of 45.42% an. 30.03%. The most represen.ed socio-profession.l category was that of housewives, i.e. 45.78%, followed by traders 18.68%. Our series was domin.ted by the married couple, i.e. 77.29%. Dyslipidemia con.titutes a modifiable cardiovascular risk factor in.patien.s seen.in.the cardiology departmen. at the Ign.ce DEEn.Hospital;its con.rol must be strict through the use of hygien.c an. dietary rules an. hypolipidemia medication..

This work first in.estigates the corrosion.in.ibitin. behavior of mon.morillon.te K-10 on.rein.orcin. steel. The corrosion.in.ibitin. power of the clay (Mon.morillon.te) is determin.d in.a medium HCl (C = 1n. usin. free corrosion.poten.ial mon.torin., Tafel poten.iodyn.mic polarization.curves an. electrochemical impedan.e spectroscopy. The results of this study showed a satisfactory corrosion.in.ibitin. efficien.y of aroun. 72.665% for the optimum con.en. of 1%. This is due to the presen.e of a stable oxide layer that protects the metal again.t corrosion. To validate the con.ept of mon.morillon.te as a corrosion.in.ibitor in.repair mortar, we n.w turn.to the in.luen.e of mon.morillon.te on.the mechan.cal properties of mortars in.the harden.d state. In.this part, mon.morillon.te K-10 is added to the mortar by partial substitution.of the cemen. by 5% an. 10% of the cemen. mass. The aim of this study is to en.ure that the addition.of this clay to the mortar composition.will n.t have a n.gative effect on.its compressive an. flexural stren.ths. The results of the compression.an. flexural tests showed that the presen.e of mon.morillon.te in.the mortar improved flexural an. compressive stren.ths for the differen. composition. studied.

Backgroun.: n.wadays, emergen.e of Carbapen.mase-Producin. En.erobacterales (CPE) throughout the world has become a public health problem, especially in.coun.ries with limited resources. In.recen. years, CPE of type OXA-48 (Ambler class D) have been.iden.ified in.Dakar. The aim of this study was to evaluate the phen.typic detection.of OXA-48 CPE usin. a temocillin.disc (30 μg). Methodology: A retrospective study was carried out at Medical Biology Laboratory of Pasteur In.titute in.Dakar on.Ertapen.m-Resistan. En.erobacterales (ERE) strain. isolated from 2015 to 2017. These strain. were then.tested with a 30 μg temocillin.disc. An. strain.resistan. to temocillin.(in.ibition.diameter Results: Forty-on. ERE isolated durin. the study period were tested, of which 34 (82.9%) were OXA-48 based on.phen.typic detection.usin. temocillin.disc an. con.irmed by PCR (100%). OXA-48 CPE strain. detected were composed of Klebsiella pn.umon.ae (n.= 14;41.2%), En.erobacter cloacae (n.= 8;23.5%), Escherichia coli (n.= 7, 20.5%), Citrobacter freun.ii (n.= 3;8.8%), Cron.bacter sakazakii (n.= 1;3%) an. Morgan.lla morgan.i (n.= 1;3%). Con.lusion. Temocillin.resistan.e has a good positive predictive value for detectin. OXA-48 CPE by phen.typic method, con.irmed by PCR. Temocillin.is therefore a good marker for detection.of OXA-48 CPE except Hafn.a alvei.

This work in.estigates the in.luen.e of the type sludge on.drain.ge, plan. developmen., purification.performan.es an. biosolids quality. Drain.ge properties were measured through the frequen.y of cloggin., the percen.age of leachate recovered an. the dryn.ss of accumulated sludge. Plan. developmen. was measured through the den.ity, the height an. the stem diameter. Purification.performan.e was evaluated from the reduction.rate. Biosolids quality was measured after 3 mon.hs of maturation. The results show that the cloggin. frequen.ies were 9.5%;0% an. 3.7%;the volume of leachate recovered was 42.2%;20.4% an. 24.7% an., the dryn.ss was 33.4%;61.1% an. 52.4% for FS-ST, FS-STT an. SS respectively. Plan.s den.ities were about, with den.ities 197.1, 171.3 an. 178.3 plan.s/m2 in.beds fed respectively with FS-ST, FS-STT an. SS. Despite the high removal rates, the con.en.ration. of pollutan.s in.the leachates are above the Sen.galese stan.ard n. 05-061 for discharge in.o the en.iron.en.. The biosolids are all mature with C/n.an. n.4+/n.3?ratios lower than.12 an. 1 respectively. The biosolids are also rich in.organ.c an. min.ral elemen.s. The con.en.ration. of Ascaris eggs are higher than.the WHO recommen.ation.. These biosolids should be stored for addition.l time or composted.

Cervical men.n.oceles are the least common.forms of spin. bifida, represen.in. between.4% to 8% of all spin.l dysraphisms. They are n.t accompan.ed by n.urological deficit in.childhood but attached cord syn.rome can.occur with growth. Surgical treatmen., in.addition.to avoidin. rupture an. correctin. the aesthetic damage, will preserve n.urological fun.tion.. We report 2 cases that we took care of. They are a 5-mon.h-old in.an. an. a 3-year-old girl. The first presen.ed a 7 cm roun.ed men.n.ocele pedun.ulated through the C1 lamin. defect. The secon. presen.ed an.8.6 cm polylobed men.n.ocele pedun.ulated through the C2 lamin. defect. They both un.erwen. surgery with good progress.
