The role of collateral related donors in haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

A key issue in the haploiedntical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(haplo-HSCT) setting is the search for the best donor, because donor selection can significantly impact the clinical outcomes. We aimed to identify the role of collateral related donors(CRDs) in donor selection for haplo-HSCT through comparing the clinical outcomes between CRDs(n = 60) and maternal donors(MDs, n = 296), which were the last choice of donor selection in immediate related donors(IRDs). The cumulative incidence of graft-versus-host disease was comparable between CRDs and MDs. The 5-year cumulative incidence of relapse and non-relapse mortality was 22.0%(95% CI, 11.3%–32.7%) versus 17.4%(95% CI, 13.0%–21.8%)(P = 0.455) and 25.0%(95% CI, 13.9%–36.1%) versus 23.1%(95% CI, 18.2%–28.0%)(P = 0.721) for the CRDs and MDs, respectively. The 5-year probabilities of disease-free survival and overall survival was 53.2%(95% CI, 40.4%–66.0%) versus 59.5%(95% CI, 53.8%–65.2%)(P = 0.406) and 56.5%(95% CI,43.8%–69.2%) versus 61.8%(95% CI, 56.1%–67.5%)(P = 0.458) for the CRDs and MDs, *** donor/male recipient(FDMR) CRDs were associated with the poorest clinical outcomes, and the clinical outcomes of non-FDMR CRDs were comparable to those of MDs. In summary, our results showed that CRDs did not showed superiority over MDs. Thus, IRDs should be the first choice of donor selection, and CRDs could only be the donors for those without IRDs.

Phase transition and near-zero thermal expansion of Zr_(0.5)Hf_(0.5)VPO_7

The Zr（0.5）Hf（0.5）VPO7 is successfully synthesized by the solid-state method with near-zero thermal expansion. Powder x-ray diffraction（XRD）, Raman spectroscopy, thermal dilatometry, and scanning electron microscopy（SEM） are used to investigate the structure, the phase transition, and the coefficient of thermal expansion（CTE） of Zr（0.5）Hf（0.5）VPO7. The investigation results show that the samples are of the single cubic type with a space group of Pa3ˉ at room temperature（RT）.It can be inferred that the superstructure is transformed from the 3 × 3 × 3 superstructure to the 1 × 1 × 1 ideal crystal in a temperature range between 310 K and 323 K. The CTE is measured by a dilatometer to be 0.59 × 10^（-6） K^（-1）（310 K–673 K）. The values of intrinsic（XRD） and extrinsic（dilatometric） thermal expansion are both near zero. The results show that Zr（0.5）Hf（0.5）VPO7 has near-zero thermal expansion behavior over a wide temperature range.

Effect of deformation twinning on high-temperature performance of cold-rolled S31042 steel

Influence of deformation twinning on high-temperature instantaneous performance of cold-rolled S31042 steel was investigated by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and high-temperature tensile test. An increasing number of deformation twins have formed as the cold rolling reduction degree increases during the cold rolling process. During the tensile process at 700 ℃, M23C6 particles generated along the deformation twin boundaries, and NbCrN nanoparticles dispersedly precipitated throughout the austenite grains. For the high-temperature tensile sample subjected to cold reduction for 80%, it is observed from the fractured cross section that numerous defor-mation twin boundaries were decorated by discontinuous M23C6 particles. Therefore, austenite grains were divided into several independent zones by the deformation twins, and the grains were refined. Due to the grain refinement strengthening and precipitation strengthening, the high-temperature temporal strength of the 80% cold-rolled sample was significantly improved, and simultaneously, this sample exhibited favorable high-temperature elongation.

Crushing analysis and multi-objective optimization of bitubular hexagonal columns with ribs

In order to improve the crashworthiness of thin-walled columns, the energy absorption characteristics of three columns under quasi-static axial crushing loads were analyzed through LS-DYNA. Numerical results show that the energy absorption capability of the bitubular hexagonal columns with middle to middle(MTM) ribs is the best, followed by the bitubular hexagonal columns with corner to corner(CTC) ribs and the bitubular hexagonal columns without(NOT) ribs, respectively. Then, the MTM rib was optimized by using multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm. Through the analysis of the Pareto front for specific energy absorption(SEA, A_(se)) and peak crushing force(PCF, F_(pc)), it is found that there is a vertex on the Pareto front. The vertex has the design parameters of t_1=1.2 mm, t_2=1.2 mm, A_(se)=11.3729 k J/kg, F_(pc)=235.8491 kN. When the PCF is in a certain size, on the left of the vertex, the point with t_2=1.2 mm has the biggest SEA, meanwhile on the right of the vertex, the point with t_1=1.2 mm has the biggest SEA. Finally, the global sensitivity analysis was conducted to investigate the effect of two design parameters. The result is obtained that both SEA and PCF for MTM are more sensitive to t_1 rather than t_2 in the design domain.
