Intracerebral hemorrhage(ICh)is a subtype of stroke associated with higher rates of mortality.Currently,no effective drug treatment is available for ICh.The molecular pathways following ICh are complicated and diverse.Nucleic acid therapeutics such as gene knockdown by small interfering RNAs(siRNAs)have been developed in recent years to modulate ICh’s destructive pathways and mitigate its outcomes.however,siRNAs delivery to the central nervous system is challenging and faces many roadblocks.Existing barriers to systemic delivery of siRNA limit the use of naked siRNA;therefore,siRNA-vectors developed to protect and deliver these therapies into the specific-target areas of the brain,or cell types seem quite promising.Efficient delivery of siRNA via nanoparticles emerged as a viable and effective alternative therapeutic tool for central nervous system-related diseases.This review discusses the obstacles to siRNA delivery,including the advantages and disadvantages of viral and nonviral vectors.Additionally,we provide a comprehensive overview of recent progress in nanotherapeutics areas,primarily focusing on the delivery system of siRNA for ICh treatment.

Evaluating Ignition and Combustion Performance with Al-Metal- Organic Frameworks and Nano-Aluminum in hTPB Fuel

Incorporating aluminum metal-organic frameworks(Al-MOFs)as energetic additives for solid fuels presents a promising avenue for enhancing combustion performance.This study explores the potential benefits of Al-MOF(MIL-53(Al))energetic additive on the combustion performance of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene(hTPB)fuel.The hTPB-MOF fuel samples were manufactured using the vacuum-casting technique,followed by a comprehensive evaluation of their ignition and combustion properties using an opposed flow burner(OFB)setup utilizing gaseous oxygen as an oxidizer.To gauge the effectiveness of Al-MOFs as fuel additives,their impact is compared with that of nano-aluminum(nAl),another traditional additive in hTPB fuel.The results indicate that the addition of 15%(mass fraction)nAl into hTPB resulted in the shortest ignition delay time(136 ms),demonstrating improved ignition performance compared to pure hTPB(273 ms).The incorporation of Al-MOF in hTPB also reduced ignition delay times to 227 ms and 189 ms,respectively.Moreover,under high oxidizer mass flux conditions(79—81 kg/(m^(2)s)),hTPB fuel with 15%nAl exhibited a substantial 83.2%increase in regression rate compared to the baseline hTPB fuel,highlighting the positive influence of nAl on combustion behavior.In contrast,hTPB-MOF with a 15%Al-MOF additive showed a 32.7%increase in regression rate compared to pure hTPB.These results suggest that hTPB-nAl outperforms hTPB-MOF in terms of regression rates,indicating a more vigorous and rapid burning behavior.

Aging is a significant risk factor for various diseases,including asthma,and it often leads to poorer clinical outcomes,particularly in elderly individuals.It is recognized that age-related diseases are due to a time-dependent accumulation of cellular damage,resulting in a progressive decline in cellular and physiological functions and an increased susceptibility to chronic diseases.The effects of aging affect not only the elderly but also those of younger ages,posing significant challenges to global healthcare.Thus,understanding the molecular mechanisms associated with aging in different diseases is essential.One intriguing factor is the aryl hydrocarbon receptor(AhR),which serves as a cytoplasmic receptor and ligand-activated transcription factor and has been linked to the aging process.here,we review the literature on several major hallmarks of aging,including mitochondrial dysfunction,cellular senescence,autophagy,mitophagy,epigenetic alterations,and microbiome disturbances.Moreover,we provide an overview of the impact of AhR on these hallmarks by mediating responses to environmental exposures,particularly in relation to the immune system.Furthermore,we explore how aging hallmarks affect clinical characteristics,inflammatory features,exacerbations,and the treatment of asthma.It is suggested that AhR signaling may potentially play a role in regulating asthma phenotypes in elderly populations as part of the aging process.

Improved photocatalytic performance of acetaldehyde degradation via crystal plane regulation on truncated octahedral CeO2

In this study,the truncated octahedral Ce O2（Ce O2-to） with special morphology was prepared by the solvothermal method with oleic acid （OA） and oleamine（OM） as the morphology-directing agents.high-resolution transmission electron microscopy （hRTEM） results show that Ce O2-to exposes composite{100}and{111}facets,while Ce O2cubic （Ce O2-c） and Ce O2octahedral （Ce O2-o）only expose single crystal facets of{100}plane and{111}plane,respectively.Interestingly,this Ce O2-to photocatalyst exhibits remarkable photooxidation performance of gaseous acetaldehyde （Ch3ChO） degradation,in which CO2generation value reaches 1.78 and 7.97-times greater than that of Ce O2-c and Ce O2-o,respectively.In addition,the active species trapping experiment signifies that superoxide （·O2-） and holes （h+） are the main reactive substances during the Ch3ChO degradation process,and the electron paramagnetic resonance （EPR） spectra indicates that the former is the major contributor.Notably,the electron transfer mechanism between Ce O2-to{100}and{111}facets and the surface oxygen adsorption ability are revealed via density functional theory （DFT） calculations.It is also confirmed that{100}facets are more conducive to the absorption of acetaldehyde than{111}facets.Finally,a reasonable mechanism for improved photocatalytic Ch3ChO degradation on Ce O2-to is proposed based on relevant experiments and DFT calculations.This study demonstrates that the systematic development of surface homojunction structured photocatalysts can efficiently increase the degradation activity for volatile organic compounds （VOCs）.It also offers additional direction for optimizing the photocatalytic activity of other ceriumbased photocatalysts.

moths,pheromone receptors(PRs)are crucial for intraspecific sexual communication between males and females.Moth PRs are considered as an ideal model for studying the evolution of insect PRs,and a large number of PRs have been identified and functionally characterized in different moth species.Moth PRs were initially thought to fall into a single monophyletic clade in the odorant receptor(OR)family,but recent studies have shown that ORs in another lineage also bind type-I sex pheromones,which indicates that type-I PRs have multiple independent origins in the Lepidoptera.In this study,we investigated whether ORs of the pest moth spodoptera frugiperda belonging to clades closely related to this novel PR lineage may also have the capacity to bind type-I pheromones and serve as male PRs.Among the 7 ORs tested,only 1(sfruOR23)exhibited a male-biased expression pattern.Importantly,in vitro functional characterization showed that sfruOR23 could bind several type-I sex pheromone compounds with Z-9-tetradecenal(Z9-14:Ald),a minor component found in female sex pheromone glands,as the optimal ligand.In addition,sfruOR23 also showed weak responses to plant volatile organic compounds.Altogether,we characterized an s.frugiperda PR positioned in a lineage closely related to the novel PR clade,indicating that the type-I PR lineage can be extended in moths.

The widespread availability of GPs has opened up a whole new market that provides a plethora of location-based services.Location-based social networks have become very popular as they provide end users like us with several such services utilizing GPs through our devices.however,when users utilize these services,they inevitably expose personal information such as their ID and sensitive location to the servers.Due to untrustworthy servers and malicious attackers with colossal background knowledge,users'personal information is at risk on these servers.Unfortunately,many privacy-preserving solutions for protecting trajectories have significantly decreased utility after deployment.We have come up with a new trajectory privacy protection solution that contraposes the area of interest for users.Firstly,staying Points Detection Method based on Temporal-spatial Restrictions(sPDM-TsR)is an interest area mining method based on temporal-spatial restrictions,which can clearly distinguish between staying and moving points.Additionally,our privacy protection mechanism focuses on the user's areas of interest rather than the entire trajectory.Furthermore,our proposed mechanism does not rely on third-party service providers and the attackers'background knowledge settings.We test our models on real datasets,and the results indicate that our proposed algorithm can provide a high standard privacy guarantee as well as data availability.

Finite Deformation, Finite strain Nonlinear Dynamics and Dynamic Bifurcation in TVE solids with Rheology

This paper presents a mathematical model consisting of conservation and balance laws (CBL) of classical continuum mechanics (CCM) and ordered rate constitutive theories in Lagrangian description derived using entropy inequality and the representation theorem for thermoviscoelastic solids (TVEs) with rheology. The CBL and the constitutive theories take into account finite deformation and finite strain deformation physics and are based on contravariant deviatoric second Piola-Kirchhoff stress tensor and its work conjugate covariant Green’s strain tensor and their material derivatives of up to order m and n respectively. All published works on nonlinear dynamics of TVEs with rheology are mostly based on phenomenological mathematical models. In rare instances, some aspects of CBL are used but are incorrectly altered to obtain mass, stiffness and damping matrices using space-time decoupled approaches. In the work presented in this paper, we show that this is not possible using CBL of CCM for TVEs with rheology. Thus, the mathematical models used currently in the published works are not the correct description of the physics of nonlinear dynamics of TVEs with rheology. The mathematical model used in the present work is strictly based on the CBL of CCM and is thermodynamically and mathematically consistent and the space-time coupled finite element methodology used in this work is unconditionally stable and provides solutions with desired accuracy and is ideally suited for nonlinear dynamics of TVEs with memory. The work in this paper is the first presentation of a mathematical model strictly based on CBL of CCM and the solution of the mathematical model is obtained using unconditionally stable space-time coupled computational methodology that provides control over the errors in the evolution. Both space-time coupled and space-time decoupled finite element formulations are considered for obtaining solutions of the IVPs described by the mathematical model and are presented in the paper. Pneumonia is a disease associated with significant healthcare burden with over 1.5 million hospitalizations annually and is the eighth leading cause of death in the United states.While community-acquired pneumonia(CAP)is generally considered an acute time-limited illness,it is associated with high long-term mortality,with nearly one-third of patients requiring hospitalization dying within one year.An increasing trend of detecting multidrug-resistant(MDR)organisms causing CAP has been observed,especially in the Western world.In this editorial,we discuss about a publication by Jatteppanavar et al which reported that a case of a MDR organism was the culprit in developing pneumonia,bacteremia,and infective endocarditis that led to the patient’s death.The early detection of these resistant organisms helps improve patient outcomes.significant advances have been made in the biotechnological and research space,but preventive measures,diagnostic techniques,and treatment strategies need to be developed.

Optimizing Average Electric Power During the Charging of Lithium-Ion Batteries Through the Taguchi Method

In recent times, lithium-ion batteries have been widely used owing to their high energy density, extended cycle lifespan, and minimal self-discharge rate. The design of high-speed rechargeable lithium-ion batteries faces a significant challenge owing to the need to increase average electric power during charging. This challenge results from the direct influence of the power level on the rate of chemical reactions occurring in the battery electrodes. In this study, the Taguchi optimization method was used to enhance the average electric power during the charging process of lithium-ion batteries. The Taguchi technique is a statistical strategy that facilitates the systematic and efficient evaluation of numerous experimental variables. The proposed method involved varying seven input factors, including positive electrode thickness, positive electrode material, positive electrode active material volume fraction, negative electrode active material volume fraction, separator thickness, positive current collector thickness, and negative current collector thickness. Three levels were assigned to each control factor to identify the optimal conditions and maximize the average electric power during charging. Moreover, a variance assessment analysis was conducted to validate the results obtained from the Taguchi analysis. The results revealed that the Taguchi method was an eff ective approach for optimizing the average electric power during the charging of lithium-ion batteries. This indicates that the positive electrode material, followed by the separator thickness and the negative electrode active material volume fraction, was key factors significantly infl uencing the average electric power during the charging of lithium-ion batteries response. The identification of optimal conditions resulted in the improved performance of lithium-ion batteries, extending their potential in various applications.
