The speed of increasing threats to the riverine water resources makes it more critical to protect the health of Old Brahmaputra River *** current study was done to investigate the concentrations,distributions,sources,and ecological risk of heavy metals in surface sediment from the Old Brahmaputra River,*** were collected from seven sites and analyzed with an inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer(ICP-MS).The results showed that mean concentrations(mg/kg) of heavy metals were in the order of nickel(Ni)(44.69)> chromium(Cr)(30.16)> lead(Pb)(19.31)>copper(Cu)(17.84)> cadmium(Cd)(3.94)> arsenic(As)(2.73).The contamination factor(CF),pollution load index(PLI),enrichment factor(EF),and geo-accumulation index(Igeo) indicated low to moderate *** unit analysis revealed that the studied metals from all stations posed low *** sediment of the study river was uncontaminated to moderately contaminated,posing a minimal ecological ***,Cr,Ni,and Pb originated from anthropogenic sources rather than geogenic sources,and caused the severity of *** this regard,pollutant-based intensive monitoring of heavy metals and holistic ecological risk assessments are required to maintain a sound and healthy aquatic environment in the river.

Intrinsic photocatalytic water oxidation activity of Mn-doped ferroelectric BiFeO3

The development of stable and efficient visible light-absorbing oxide-based semiconductor photocatalysts is a desirable task for solar water splitting ***,we proposed that the low photocurrent density in film-based BiFeO_(3)(BFO)is due to charge recombination at the interface of the domain walls,which could be largely reduced in particulate photocatalyst *** demonstrate this hypothesis,in this work we synthesized particulate BFO and Mn-doped BiFeO_(3)(Mn-BFO)by the sol-gel *** water oxidation tests showed that pure BFO had an intrinsic photocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction(OER)activity of 70μmol h^(-1) g^(-1),while BFO-2,with an optimum amount of Mn doping(0.05%),showed an OER activity of 255μmol h^(-1) g^(-1) under visible light(λ≥420 nm)*** bandgap of Mn-doped BFO could be reduced from 2.1 to 1.36 eV by varying the amount of Mn *** functional theory(DFT)calculations suggested that surface Fe(rather than Mn)species serve as the active sites for water oxidation,because the overpotential for water oxidation on Fe species after Mn doping is 0.51 V,which is the lowest value measured for the different Fe and Mn species examined in this *** improved photocatalytic water oxidation activity of Mn-BFO is ascribed to the synergistic effect of the bandgap narrowing,which increases the absorption of visible light,reduces the activation energy of water oxidation,and inhibits the recombination of photogenerated *** work demonstrates that Mn doping is an effective strategy to enhance the intrinsic photocatalytic water oxidation activity of particulate ferroelectric BFO photocatalysts.

Reduced Heart Rate Response during Drug-Induced Stress Is Related to the Severity of Perfusion Defect

Introduction: During the pharmacological stress test with dipyridamole, a normal hemodynamic response is slightly reduced blood pressure and raised heart rate (HR). However, sometimes the HR response is reduced. This study investigated the relationship between the HR response during the dipyridamole stress test and the severity of the perfusion defects using Thallium 201 myocardial perfusion imaging. Methods: We enrolled 50 patients undergoing dipyridamole stress at the nuclear cardiology Lab, Main University Hospital of Alexandria. Standard dipyridamole protocol (infusion over 4 min) and standard thallium 201 protocol (2 min after dipyridamole infusion) were followed. If the heart rate (HR) ratio (peak HR/rest HR) was 1.20 or less, it was considered a reduced response. Total perfusion defect (TPD), summed stress score (SSS), summed rest score (SRS), and summed difference score (SDS) for myocardial perfusion were calculated. Patients with reduced HR response and normal HR responses were compared and independent predictors of reduced HR response were determined. Results: About 56% of patients had reduced HR response;which included a high number of patients with a history of dyslipidemia and diabetes mellitus. The reduced HR response group showed lower SSS, SRS. The analysis showed that the independent predictors of reduced HR response were rest HR, SSS, and diabetes mellitus. Conclusions: Reduction in the HR response during the dipyridamole-induced stress test is related to the severity of perfusion defect, diabetes mellitus, and Dyslipidemia.

Ceramic electrochemical cells(CECs)are promising devices for clean and efficient energy conversion and storage due to their high energy efficiency,more extended system durability,and less expensive ***,the search for suitable materials with desired properties,including high ionic and electronic conductivity,thermal stability,and chemical compatibility,presents ongoing challenges that impede widespread adoption and further advancement in the *** intelligence(AI)has emerged as a versatile tool capable of enhancing and expediting the materials discovery cycle in CECs through data-driven modeling,simulation,and optimization ***,we comprehensively review the state-of-the-art AI applications for materials design and optimization for CECs,covering various material aspects,database construction,data pre-processing,and AI *** also present some representative case studies of AI-predicted and synthesized materials for CECs and provide insightful highlights about their *** emphasize the main implications and contributions of the AI approach for advancing the CEC technology,such as reducing the trial-and-error experiments,exploring the vast materials space,discovering novel and optimal materials,and enhancing the understanding of the materials-performance *** also discuss the AI approach’s main limitations and future directions for CECs,such as addressing the data and model challenges,improving and extending the AI models and methods,and integrating with other computational and experimental *** conclude by suggesting some potential applications and collaborations for AI in materials design for CECs.

Assessment of Groundwater Vulnerability in Kaduna Metropolis, Northwest Nigeria

DRASTIC index model was employed in the assessment of the intrinsic groundwater vulnerability to contamination in Kaduna metropolis, Nigeria. The model evaluates the contribution of seven environmental parameters (Depth to water level, Net Recharge, Aquifer media, Soil media, Topography, Impact of vadose zone, and Hydraulic Conductivity) in the protection of groundwater against contamination. The mapping was conducted within the framework of Geographical Information System. The study area has very low, low to slightly moderate vulnerability with highest and lowest DRASTIC values of 131 and 77 respectively. To have better understanding of the spatial vulnerability of groundwater in the area, the DRASTIC map was reclassified into five (very high, high, moderate, low and very low) vulnerability zones. Generally, the distribution of the vulnerability classes indicated the low to moderate vulnerability status of the majority parts of the study area, with high vulnerability at the center. Strict control measures should be put in place when locating land uses with high potential hazards in the high and very high vulnerability areas.

在苏丹的高中,体育课的数量在大大减少,有些地区甚至为了提高文化课考试成绩的而将体育课完全取消。目前有一些学者对苏丹高中体育课程的现状进行了相关研究,但是都不够深入。本研究运用文献资料、问卷调查、专家访谈和数理分析等科学研究方法,调查了苏丹高中体育课程的现状,主要针对相关教育政策进行分析分析。问卷包含五个部分,共有33道题目,调查样本量为60,采用Cranach进行分析α系数为0.8570,证明了本文应用方法的稳定性和有效性。采用SPSS数理统计软件对问卷数据进行分析,发现苏丹高中体育课程设置和中学生体育活动面临的主要问题,探究苏丹高中生体育课成绩未纳入毕业考试的原因,研究结论如下：1.苏丹高中没有专门的体育课程教学计划。2.相对于体育课,苏丹的高中学生对体育活动更感兴趣,不关心体育课。3.苏丹的高中校园里活动场地缺乏,有效实施体育课程的器材设施不足,而且没有为女生提供专门的体育活动场馆。4.苏丹的高中里缺乏体育教材,针对有特殊需求的学生没有开设相应的体育课程。5.苏丹的高中体育教师数量以及体育课时数量明显不足。6.苏丹政府对于高中体育课程不够重视,而且没有规定实施任何体育课程计划。

Decaying mangrove detritus plays a significant role in nutrient cycling and fueling in both the forests and aquatic habitats where the detritus stems from estuarine and coastal food *** decay rates partly depend on the type of detritus,but most studies have thus far focused on leaf litter decay and decomposition,whereas other detrital sources(except for roots)have largely been *** compare the decay rates of Rhizophora apiculata and Xylocarpus granatum non-leafy detritus(flowers,propagules,stipules,and twigs)with mangrove leaf litter in field studies,using litter bags during the dry and the wet seasons in the tropical mangrove forest of Sibuti,Sarawak,*** observed higher microbial decay rates of stipules,flowers,propagules,and twigs for both the *** and *** the wet *** contrast,leaf decay rates were higher during the dry *** rates depended on the lignin content of the detrital sources of both species,both during dry and wet ***,the half-life(T0.5)and 95%lifespan(T0.95)of non-leaf materials(flowers,propagules,stipules and twigs)for both species were remarkably longer than those of leaf *** decaying non-leafy detritus may play a significant role in nutrient and carbon cycling over longer time,when leaf litter is either being decomposing rapidly and/or being washed away by tidal flush and river ***,non-leafy(flowers,propagules,stipules and twigs)detritus should be taken into account when budgeting organic matter turnover in mangroves.

To the Editor: Neurofibromatosis type 1(NF-1), or Von Recklinghausen disease, is a genetic disorder inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern. It is caused by a mutation in the neurofibromin gene located on chromosome 17, accounting for 96% of all neurofibromatosis cases. This condition can affect multiple systems and often leads to the formation of tumors along the nervous system [1]. Patients with NF-1 may exhibit various symptoms, including Lisch nodules, neurofibromas, scoliosis, café au lait spots, learning disabilities, vision disorders, and epilepsy.

Left Atrial Appendage Mechanical Changes in Patient with Mitral Stenosis Speckle Tracking Imaging Study

Background: LAA is the major site of thrombus formation in mitral stenosis;active LAA blood flow and contractile function may be disturbed in MS. TEE?is the modality of choice for evaluating LAA and Speckle-tracking?echocardiography (STE) is a recently developed technique for the characterization and quantification of myocardial deformation. It permits measurement of LA and LAA strain and strain rate which can be used to assess the mechanical function of LAA. Objective: To assess the mechanical function of left atrial appendage (LAA) in mitral stenosis (MS) patients with sinus rhythm by 2D?speckle tracking strain and strain rate through transesophageal?echocardiography (TEE). Patients & Method: Thirty-three patients with moderate tosevere MS and sinus rhythm, 38.33 ± 5.66 years as a case group and?twenty-two age and sex matched healthy volunteers as a control group. All?participants underwent compete conventional transthoracic echocardiography;TEE for assessment of LAA morphology and Doppler flow and speckle?tracking strain & strain rate were measured from LAA walls. Results: LAA Doppler flow peak velocities, LAA strain, reservoir strain rate (RSr), conduit strain rate (CSr) and atrial contractile strain rate (ASr) all were significantly lower in patient group. Global Strain of LAA had a negative correlation with LA diameter, pulmonary artery systolic pressure & degree of spontaneous echo contrast and a positive correlation with MS area and LAA Doppler ***: 2D speckle tracking strain and strain rate of LAA is a feasible technique and is significantly reduced in patients with mitral stenosis even with sinus rhythm.
