The key a.m of this study is to eva.ua.e the a.sorption of hea.y oil from a.ueous solutions with different oil contents over mesoporous silica.e ma.eria.s ha.ing different surfa.ta.t templa.e contents. The meso- porous silica.e ma.eria.s ha.e been synthesized from tetra.thylorthosilica.e a. a.silica.precursor a.d cetyltri- methyla.monium bromide a. a.templa.e using the sol-gel technique. Four sa.ples were prepa.ed by （1） tota.ly removing the templa.e using the ca.cina.ion process, （2） pa.tia.ly removing the templa.e via.etha.ol extra.tion, （3） pa.tia.ly removing the templa.e via.wa.er extra.tion, a.d （4） keeping the templa.e a. synthesized, respectively. These four sa.ples ha.e been cha.a.terized using X-ra. diffra.tion, nitrogen a.sorption, therma. gra.imetric a.a. lysis a.d Fourier tra.sformed infra.ed. The effect of the degree of templa.e remova. of these mesoporous ma.eria.s for the oil remova. ha. been investiga.ed. The oil remova. is inversely proportiona. to the surfa.ta.t content in the mesoporous ma.eria., being highest for the ca.cined sa.ple but lowest for the a.-synthesized sa.ple. The kinetic of oil a.sorption over the ca.cined ma.eria. ha. been a.so studied a.d the da.a.obta.ned fit well a.second-order model.

In this study,a.spent pa.m cooking oil-ba.ed mud with a. excellent H_(2)S sca.enging ca.a.ility induced by the inclusion of a.sma.l qua.tity of pota.sium perma.ga.a.e is formula.ed a.d tested for the first *** mud formula.ion,conta.ning the spent pa.m oil a. the continuous pha.e a.d wa.er a. the dispersed pha.e,respectively,wa. sta.ilized by Spa. 80 a.d rha.nolipid biosurfa.ta.t a. prima.y a.d seconda.y emulsifiers,respectively,while hydrophobic zinc na.opa.ticles(NPs)were used a. weighting *** results showed tha. H_(2)S sca.enging ca.a.ity a. the brea.through time rea.hed 182.4 g H_(2)S/ba.rel mud,which increa.ed to 417.9 g H_(2)S/ba.rel mud a. the sa.ura.ion time,demonstra.ing the effective H_(2)S sca.enging performa.ce of the formula.ed *** spent pa.m oil-ba.ed mud(SPOBM)a.so showed a.good flow beha.ior tha. could be well fitted using the Herschel-Bulkley a.d Ca.son *** effect of tempera.ure on the a.pa.ent viscosity of the SPOBM ha. been investiga.ed,a.d the fitting of the viscosity-tempera.ure da.a.provided a. estima.e of the a.tiva.ion energy a. 23.53 kJ/*** findings reported in this a.ticle revea. the fea.ibility of tra.sforming the spent/wa.te cooking oils into a.va.ua.le commodity for formula.ing greener drilling fluids with a.cepta.le rheology a.d excellent H_(2)S sca.enging performa.ce.
