In this paper, synthesis and anticancer activities of morpholine hydrazones scaffold（1-17） thoroughly studied. Small series of morpholine hydrazones synthesized by treating 5-morpholinothiophene-2-carbaldehyde with different aryl hydrazides to form morpholine hydrazones scaffold（1-17）. The in vitro anticancer potential of all these compounds was checked against human cancer cell lines like Hep G2（human hepatocellular liver carcinoma） and MCF-7（human breast adenocarcinoma）. Analogs 13 had similar substantial cytotoxic effects towards Hep G2 with IC_（50） value 6.31±1.03μmmol/L when compared with the standard Doxorubicin（IC_（50）value 6.00±0.80μmmol/L）; while compounds 5,8 and 9 showed potent cytotoxicity against MCF-7 with IC_（50） value 7.08±0.42μmmol/L, 1.26±0.34μmmol/L and11.22±0.22μmmol/L respectively when compared with the standard Tamoxifen（IC_（50）= 11.00±0.40μmol/L）. Molecular docking studies also performed to understand the binding interaction.

Plants produce a wide spectrum of secondary metabolites that play critical roles in plant-environment interactions and against biotic and abiotic stresses. Moreover, many secondary metabolites have pharmaceu- tical efficacy for a wide range of diseases （cancer, malaria, etc.）. Controlled transcription of biosynthetic genes is one of the major mechanisms regulating sec- ondary metabolism in plants. Several transcription factor families such as MYC, MYB, WRKY and AP2/ERF have been found to be involved in the regulation of secondary metabolism in different medicinal plants. In addition, the biosynthesis and proper accumulation of secondary metabolites are also induced by signaling molecule jasmonic acid （JA）. This review provides an insight into JA signaling pathway and JA-mediated transcriptional regu- lation of secondary metabolism （vinblastine, nicotine, artemisinin, taxol and ginsenoside） in a range of medicinal plant species.

Infection due to hepatitis C virus(HCV) is a major cause of fibrosis and hepatocellular carcinoma in Pakistan. In the current review, pattern of HCV genotypes and subtypes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was ascertained in light of the available literature. After thorough analysis, genotype 3(58.27%) was determined to be the leading HCV genotype,followed by genotypes 2(12.39%), 1(9.54%) and 4(0.86%). The proportions of genotypes 5 and 6 were recorded as 0.09% and 0.22% respectively. Subtype wise, 3 a accounted for 48.67%, followed by subtype 2 a(10.91%), 3 b(9.43%), 1 a(5.84%), 1 b(3.66%), 2 b(1.45%) and genotype 4 with its undefined subtypes contributed a portion of0.86%. The cumulative share of subtypes 1 c, 2 c, 3 c, 5 a and 6 a was less than 1%. In11.51% cases, the subtype was untypeable while in 7.17% cases mixed subtypes were recorded. Gender wise, proportions of most HCV subtypes were marginally higher among males as compared to females. On the basis of studied groups, 3 a was pervasive among all groups except in intravenous drug users where 2 a was the major HCV ***, based on various geographical locations(provincial divisions), subtype 3 a revealed a ubiquitous distribution. Conclusively, HCV 3 a persists to be the principal subtype across the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The considerable number of untypeable subtypes in most studies urges for an improved genotyping system on the basis of local sequence data and practice of sequencing for determination of underlying subtype in untypeable cases. Further, studies on identification of subtypes transmission pattern are imperative for assessment of transmission origin and reinforcement of efficient control strategies. In addition, the current review emphasizes the need of attention toward HCV risk groups and ignored southern side of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province for better holistic understanding of HCV genotype distribution pattern in the province.

Role of secondary metabolites of wild marigold in suppression of Johnson grass and Sun spurge

Objective: To analyze the wild marigold [(Tagetes minuta L.)(T. minuta)] leaf extract with respect to phytochemicals and allelopathic activity. Methods: The aqueous extracts of T. minuta leaves at concentrations of 50%, 75% and 100% were prepared. Preliminary phytochemical analysis was carried out and then allelopathic ef ect of T. minuta on root length, shoot length, germination, fresh and dry weight of Johnson grass and Sun spurge was tested on i lter paper and in ***: Qualitative phytochemical analysis showed the presence of alkaloids, tannins, saponins, l avonoides and terpenoids. The higher concentrations proved to be signii cantly ef ective in reducing almost all the parameters of Sun spurge and Johnson grass in i lter paper bioassay. Supplemented with the soil, all concentrations of leaf extract showed reduction in germination, root and shoot growth, fresh and dry weight of Sun spurge; however, 100% concentration signii cantly reduced the germination of Johnson grass. Conclusions: This study suggests that marigold allelochemicals can be used as an integrated weed management for the production of better crop yield.

Curcumin, a polyphenol, has a wide range of biological properties such as anticancer, antibacterial, antitubercular, cardioprotective and neuroprotective. Moreover, the anti-proliferative activities of Curcumin have been widely studied against several types of cancers due to its ability to target multiple pathways in cancer. Although Curcumin exhibited potent anticancer activity, its clinical use is limited due to its poor water solubility and faster metabolism. Hence, there is an immense interest among researchers to develop potent, water-soluble, and metabolically stable Curcumin analogs for cancer treatment. While drug resistance remains a major problem in cancer therapy that renders current chemotherapy ineffective, curcumin has shown promise to overcome the resistance and re-sensitize cancer to chemotherapeutic drugs in many studies. In the present review, we are summarizing the role of curcumin in controlling the proliferation of drug-resistant cancers and development of curcumin-based therapeutic applications from cell culture studies up to clinical trials.

Polyethylene glycol functionalized carbon nanotubes/gelatin-chitosan nanocomposite: An approach for significant drug release

This research work blooms the new idea of developing a safe and controlled drug releasing matrix using multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs).In aqueous solution,uniform and highly stable dispersion of MWCNTs was obtained after secondary functionalization with polyethylene glycol(PEG)which was studied by Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).Solution casting method was used to prepare MWCNTs/gelatin-chitosan nanocomposite films and the effect of MWCNTs on physico-mechanical,thermal and water uptake properties of the nanocomposites were *** of MWCNTs into the porous gelatin-chitosan matrix showed interesting stiffness and dampness along with developed microfibrillar structures within the pore walls intended at being used in tissue engineering of bone or cartilage.A common antibiotic drug,ciprofloxacin was incorporated into nanocomposite *** evaluation of the effect of MWCNTs on drug release rate by dissolution test and antimicrobial susceptibility test was *** release of the drug was found at early stages(~1 h),but the rate was reduced afterwards,showing a sustained *** was observed that for all microorganisms,the antibacterial activities of drug loaded MWCNTs/gelatin-chitosan nanocomposites were higher than that of drug loaded gelatin-chitosan composite films containing no *** statistical studies by ANOVA techniques also showed remarkable difference between the antibacterial activities,exhibited by MWCNTs-incorporated and non-incorporated composite films.

The previous research on the occurrence of disinfection by-products (DBPs) in drinking water has focused on trihalomethane (THMs) formation and evolution, in particular within distribution systems. In this study, the variability of occurrence of haloacetic acids (HAAs) before and after treatment was investigated. The investigation focused on point–to-point fluctuations of HAAs in different treatment stages within the treatment plant. The research was also carried out to find out the possible sources for the presence of HAAs before chlorination in the raw water. The results showed that the presence of HAAs from the raw water point until the filtered water occurred due to industrial waste and sewages. Subsequent formation of HAAs from treated point until service reservoir due to disinfection. The HAAs concentration was the highest and most variable in the plant where level of DBP precursor indicators and the chlorine dose were both higher. However, HAAs level and in particular dichloroacetic acids (DCAA) (the preponderant HAAs species in the waters under study), trichloroacetic acids (TCAA) decreased dramatically during filtration, very probably because of the biodegradation within the filter. An ANNOVA test was used to evaluate the level of significance of HAAs between treated water and service reservoir outlet water.

Previous studies reported that specially designed ventilation systems provide good air quality and safe environment by removing airborne droplets that contain viruses expelled by infected *** water droplets can be stable in the environment and remain suspended in air for prolonged *** between droplets may occur and droplet interactions should be ***,the previous studies focused on other physical phenomena(air flow,drag force,evaporation)for droplet transport and neglected droplet *** this work,we used computational fluid dynamics(CFD)to simulate the transport and fate of airborne droplets expelled by an asymptomatic person and considered droplet *** drag with turbulence for prediction of transport and fate of droplets indicated that the turbulence increased the transport of 1μm droplets,whereas it decreased the transport of 50μm *** contrast to only considering drag and turbulence,consideration of droplet interactions tended to increase both the transport and *** the length scale of the office is much larger than the droplet sizes,the droplet interactions,which occurred at the initial stages of release when droplet separation distances were shorter,had a significant effect in droplet fate by considerably manipulating the final locations on surfaces where droplets ***,it is proposed that when an exact prediction of transport and fate is required,especially for high droplet concentrations,the effects of droplet interactions should not be ignored.
