BACKGROUND Spinal cord injury(SCI)is an important cause of traumatic paralysis and is mainly due to motor vehicle ***,there is no definite treatment for spinal cord *** To assess the outcome of rat embryonic stem cells(rESC)and autologous bone marrow-derived neurocytes(ABMDN)treatment in iatrogenic SCI created in rats,and to compare the efficacy of the two different cell *** The study comprised 45 male Wistar rats weighing between 250 and 300 g,which were divided into three groups,the control,rESC and ABMDN *** anesthetized animals underwent exposure of the thoracic 8th to lumbar 1st vertebrae.A T10-thoracic 12th vertebrae laminectomy was performed to expose the spinal cord.A drop-weight injury using a 10 g weight from a height of 25 cm onto the exposed spinal cord was *** wound was closed in *** urinary bladder was manually evacuated twice daily and after each evacuation Ringer lactate 5 mL/100 g was administered,twice daily after each bladder evacuation for the first 7 postoperative *** the 10th day,the rats underwent nerve conduction studies and behavioral assessment[Basso,Beattie,Brenham(BBB)]to confirm *** embryonic stem cells,ABMDN and saline were injected on the 10th *** animals were euthanized after 8 wk and the spinal cord was isolated,removed and placed in 2%formalin for histopathological analysis to assess the healing of neural tissues at the axonal *** All the animals tolerated the procedure *** BBB scale scoring showed that at the end of the first week no recovery was observed in the ***-injection,there was a strong and significant improvement in rats receiving rESC and ABMDN as compared to the control group based on the BBB scale,and the Trainof-four-Watch SX acceleromyography device exhibited statistically significant(P<0.0001)regeneration of neural tissue after *** evaluation of the spinal cord showed maximum vacuolization and least gliosis i

Probabilistic Analysis of Slope Using Finite Element Approach and Limit Equilibrium Approach around Amalpata Landslide of West Central, Nepal

The stability study of the ongoing and recurring Amalpata landslide in Baglung in Nepal’s Gandaki Province is presented in this research. The impacted slope is around 200 meters high, with two terraces that have different slope inclinations. The lower bench, located above the basement, consistently fails and sets others up for failure. The fluctuating water level of the slope, which travels down the slope masses, exacerbates the slide problem. The majority of these rocks are Amalpata landslide area experiences several structural disruptions. The area’s stability must be evaluated in order to prevent and control more harm from occurring to the nearby agricultural land and people living along the slope. The slopes’ failures increase the damages of house existing in nearby area and the erosion of the slope. Two modeling techniques the finite element approach and the limit equilibrium method were used to simulate the slope. The findings show that, in every case, the terrace above the basement is where the majority of the stress is concentrated, with a safety factor of near unity. Using probabilistic slope stability analysis, the failure probability was predicted to be between 98.90% and 100%.

Background: The differential diagnosis for intracavitary cardiac masses is limited, typically including vegetations, tumors, or thrombi. Cardiac thrombi can often mimic cardiac tumors on imaging, creating a diagnostic challenge. Primary cardiac tumors are rare and usually benign, whereas most cardiac tumors result from metastases, commonly originating from malignancies in the breast, lung, or melanoma. Aim: This report highlights the importance of distinguishing various cardiac masses based on clinical presentations, clinical courses, and radiological features. Case Presentation: We describe two cases of cardiac masses with unique and diverse clinical features. Each case posed significant diagnostic challenges due to their distinct presentations and clinical progressions. Conclusion: These cases underscore the importance of considering both benign and metastatic origins in the differential diagnosis of intracavitary cardiac masses. Accurate differentiation between thrombi and tumors is crucial for appropriate management and treatment.

BACKGROUND There is scant literature on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome(BCS).AIM To assess the magnitude,clinical characteristics,feasibility,and outcomes of treatment in *** A total of 904 BCS patients from New Delhi,India and 1140 from Mumbai,India were *** prevalence and incidence of HCC were determined,and among patients with BCS-HCC,the viability and outcomes of interventional therapy were *** In the New Delhi cohort of 35 BCS-HCC patients,18 had HCC at index presentation(prevalence 1.99%),and 17 developed HCC over a follow-up of 4601 person-years,[incidence 0.36(0.22-0.57)per 100 person-years].BCS-HCC patients were older when compared to patients with BCS alone(P=0.001)and had a higher proportion of inferior vena cava block,cirrhosis,and long-segment vascular *** median alpha-fetoprotein level was higher in patients with BCS-HCC at first presentation than those who developed HCC at follow-up(13029 ng/mL vs 500 ng/mL,P=0.01).Of the 35 BCS-HCC,26(74.3%)underwent radiological interventions for BCS,and 22(62.8%)patients underwent treatment for HCC[transarterial chemoembolization in 18(81.8%),oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor in 3(13.6%),and transarterial radioembolization in 1(4.5%)].The median survival among patients who underwent interventions for HCC compared with those who did not was 3.5 years vs 3.1 mo(P=0.0001).In contrast to the New Delhi cohort,the Mumbai cohort of BCS-HCC patients were predominantly males,presented with a more advanced HCC[Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer C and D],and 2 patients underwent liver *** HCC is not uncommon in patients with *** interventions and liver transplantation are feasible in select primary BCS-HCC patients and may improve outcomes.

The verbiage in variable message signs and traffic diversion during crash incidents

Purpose–WIth limited research on the effects of variable message sign(VMS)message content and verbiage on revealed driver behavior,this study aims to investigate how different verbiage of crash-related messages are related to the diversion ***/methodology/approach–Using ordered logit models,the associations of message verbiage with diversion rates during crash incidents were assessed using five years of VMS message history within a section of I-15 in the state of ***–A significant impact of message verbiage on the diversion rate was *** on the analysis results,the crash message verbiage with the highest diversion was found to be miles to crash 1“prepare to stop,”followed by crash location 1 delay information,miles to crash 1“use caution”1 lane of the crash,*** addition,the diversion rate was found to be correlated to some roadway characteristics(*** in mainline,weather condition and light condition)along with the temporal *** limitations/implications–These findings could be used by transportation agencies(*** department of transportation[DOTs])to make informed decisions about choosing the message verbiage during future crash *** study also revealed that higher diversion rates are associated with a shorter distance between the crash location and VMS device location,recommending increasing the number of VMS devices,particularly in crash-prone areas.

Applicability of unique scarf joint configuration in friction stir welding of AA6061-T6:Analysis of torque,force,microstructure and mechanical properties

The present research introduces a unique concept of scarf joint technique in friction stir welding(FSW) of aluminum alloy AA 6061-T6 plates and an investigation on weld quality.A new joint configuration with two distinct scarf angles(75°and 60°) was considered in this *** various aspects of welding were compared with contemporary simple square butt(SSB) joint *** was carried out at a constant tool rotation speed(TRS),tool traverse speed(TTS) and tool tilt angle of 1100 rpm,2 mm/s and2°,*** results are analyzed in terms of force and torque distribution,microstructure,macrostructure,and mechanical property perspective for different joint *** study reveals the minimum amount of force and torque at 60°scarf angle joint configuration compared to that of square butt joint *** study shows that all the joints were defect-free,and a prominent onion ring was present in the lower portion of the weld nugget(WN).Fine equiaxed grains with a minimum average grain size diameter of 6.82 μm were obtained in the WN of scarf joint configuration(SJC).The maximum ultimate tensile strength(UTS) and maximum average NZ hardness of 267 MPa and83.82 HV0.1were obtained in SJC3 at a scarf angle of 60°.It has been observed from the investigation that the joint efficiency increases from 72.5%(SSB) to 86%(SJC3) at a 60° scarf *** unique characteristic may lay an impetus on probable joint strength enhancement technique without increasing the production cost.
