In order to maintain the structural consistency during the welding of precipitation hardened copperchromium-zirconium(PH-CuCrZr)alloy components,electron beam welding(EBW)process was *** study and numerical modeling of EBW process during welding of PH-CuCrZr alloy components were carried out.A 3D finite element model was developed to predict the output responses(bead penetration and bead width)as a function of EBW input parameters(beam current,acceleration voltage and weld speed).A combined circular and conical source with Gaussian heat distribution was used to model the deep penetration characteristic of the EBW *** modeling was carried out by developing user defined function in Ansys *** predictions were compared with the experimental results which had a good agreement with each *** developed model can be used for parametric study in wide range of problems involving complex geometries which are to be welded using EBW *** present work illustrates that the input current with a contribution of 44.56%and 81.13%is the most significant input parameter for the bead penetration and bead width,respectively.

The Himalayan region is one of the major seismic areas in the ***,similar to many other seismically active locations,there are substantial numbers of unreinforced masonry(URM)buildings;the majority of which have not been designed for seismic *** seismic events have shown that such buildings are highly vulnerable to *** of these URM buildings is an important concern in earthquake mitigation *** government school buildings in rural areas of northern India are constructed of unreinforced *** school buildings are socially important structures and serve as a crucial resource for rehabilitation during any *** effectiveness of ferrocement(FC)to create a URM-FC composite is described in this study by estimating the performance and fragility of a URM school building before and after a *** models,based on the equivalent frame method,are developed and used for nonlinear static analysis to estimate the enhancement in *** capacity enhancement due to retrofitting is presented in terms of the maximum PGA sustained and damage probabilities at the expected level of earthquake hazard.

Objective:To investigate the antifertility effect of chronically administered Tabernaemontana divarkala(***) leaf extract on male ***:The effect of 50%ethanol extract of *** leaves on reproduction was studied on male *** study was divided into four groups of five animals *** first groups(1) received vehicle alone to serve as control. The second,third and fourth groups(Ⅱ,ⅡandⅣ) of animals were administered the leaf extract daily at 50 mg/kg body weight,p.o.,100 nig/kg body weight,p.o.,and 200 mg/kg body weight, p.o.,respectively,for a period of 60 ***:Significant decreases in the weight of testes, epididymis,seminal vesicle and ventral prostate were observed.A dose related reduction in the testicular sperm count,epididymal sperm count and motility,number of fertile male,ratio between delivered and inseminated females and numbers of pups were *** testis showed a clear correlation between the dose and severity of lesions of seminiferous epithelium. In general,the seminiferous tubules appear reduced in size with a frequently filled eosinophilic *** arrested at the secondary spermatocyte *** spermatocytes were undergoing *** and sloughing of immature germ cell were visible. In this paper, elasto-plastic XFEM simulations have been performed to evaluate the fatigue life of plane crack problems in the presence of various defects. The stress-strain response of the material is modeled by Ramberg-Osgood equation. The von-Mises failure criterion has been used with isotropic hardening. The -integral for two fracture modes (mode-I and mode-II) is obtained by decomposing the displacement and stress fields into their symmetric and antisymmetric parts, then individual stress intensity factors are extracted from -integral. The fatigue life obtained by EPFM is found quite close to that obtained by LEFM.

Large inter annual variation in air quality during the annual festival ‘Diwali' in an Indian megacity

A network of air quality and weather monitoring stations was established under the System of Air Quality Forecasting and Research（SAFAR） project in Delhi. We report observations of ozone（O_3）, nitrogen oxides（NO_x）, carbon monoxide（CO） and particulate matter（PM_2.5and PM_（10）） before, during and after the Diwali in two consecutive years, i.e., November 2010 and October 2011. The Diwali days are characterised by large firework displays throughout India. The observations show that the background concentrations of particulate matter are between 5 and 10 times the permissible limits in Europe and the United States. During the Diwali-2010, the highest observed PM_（10） and PM_2.5mass concentration is as high as2070 μg/m^3 and 1620 μg/m3, respectively（24 hr mean）, which was about 20 and 27 times to National Ambient Air Quality Standards（NAAQS）. For Diwali-2011, the increase in PM_（10） and PM_2.5mass concentrations was much less with their peaks of 600 and of 390 μg/m^3 respectively, as compared to the background concentrations. Contrary to previous reports,firework display was not found to strongly influence the NO_x, and O_3 mixing ratios, with the increase within the observed variability in the background. CO mixing ratios showed an increase. We show that the large difference in 2010 and 2011 pollutant concentrations is controlled by weather parameters.
