The Himalayan region is one of the major seismic areas in the ***,similar to many other seismically active locations,there are substantial numbers of unreinforced masonry(URM)buildings;the majority of which have not been designed for seismic *** seismic events have shown that such buildings are highly vulnerable to *** of these URM buildings is an important concern in earthquake mitigation *** government school buildings in rural areas of northern India are constructed of unreinforced *** school buildings are socially important structures and serve as a crucial resource for rehabilitation during any *** effectiveness of ferrocement(FC)to create a URM-FC composite is described in this study by estimating the performance and fragility of a URM school building before and after a *** models,based on the equivalent frame method,are developed and used for nonlinear static analysis to estimate the enhancement in *** capacity enhancement due to retrofitting is presented in terms of the maximum PGA sustained and damage probabilities at the expected level of earthquake hazard.

In this paper,the non-static solutions for perfect fluid distribution with plane symmetry in f(R,T)gravitational theory are ***,using the Lie symmetries,symmetry reductions are performed for considered vector fields to reduce the number of independent ***,corresponding to each reduction,exact solutions are *** vectors lead to different conserved ***,we figure out the Killing vector fields corresponding to all derived *** derived solutions are further studied and it is observed that all of the obtained spacetimes,at least admit to the minimal symmetry group which consists of δ_(y),δ_(z) and -zδ_(y)+yδ_(z).The obtained metrics,admit to 3,4,6,and 10,Killing vector *** of linear momentum in the direction of y and z,and angular momentum along the x axis is provided by all derived solutions.

Objective:To investigate the antifertility effect of chronically administered Tabernaemontana divarkala(***) leaf extract on male ***:The effect of 50%ethanol extract of *** leaves on reproduction was studied on male *** study was divided into four groups of five animals *** first groups(1) received vehicle alone to serve as control. The second,third and fourth groups(Ⅱ,ⅡandⅣ) of animals were administered the leaf extract daily at 50 mg/kg body weight,p.o.,100 nig/kg body weight,p.o.,and 200 mg/kg body weight, p.o.,respectively,for a period of 60 ***:Significant decreases in the weight of testes, epididymis,seminal vesicle and ventral prostate were observed.A dose related reduction in the testicular sperm count,epididymal sperm count and motility,number of fertile male,ratio between delivered and inseminated females and numbers of pups were *** testis showed a clear correlation between the dose and severity of lesions of seminiferous epithelium. In general,the seminiferous tubules appear reduced in size with a frequently filled eosinophilic *** arrested at the secondary spermatocyte *** spermatocytes were undergoing *** and sloughing of immature germ cell were visible. In this paper, elasto-plastic XFEM simulations have been performed to evaluate the fatigue life of plane crack problems in the presence of various defects. The stress-strain response of the material is modeled by Ramberg-Osgood equation. The von-Mises failure criterion has been used with isotropic hardening. The J-integral for two fracture modes (mode-I and mode-II) is obtained by decomposing the displacement and stress fields into their symmetric and antisymmetric parts, then individual stress intensity factors are extracted from J-integral. The fatigue life obtained by EPFM is found quite close to that obtained by LEFM.

Large inter annual variation in air quality during the annual festival ‘Diwali' in an Indian megacity

A network of air quality and weather monitoring stations was established under the System of Air Quality Forecasting and Research（SAFAR） project in Delhi. We report observations of ozone（O_3）, nitrogen oxides（NO_x）, carbon monoxide（CO） and particulate matter（PM_2.5and PM_（10）） before, during and after the Diwali in two consecutive years, i.e., November 2010 and October 2011. The Diwali days are characterised by large firework displays throughout India. The observations show that the background concentrations of particulate matter are between 5 and 10 times the permissible limits in Europe and the United States. During the Diwali-2010, the highest observed PM_（10） and PM_2.5mass concentration is as high as2070 μg/m^3 and 1620 μg/m3, respectively（24 hr mean）, which was about 20 and 27 times to National Ambient Air Quality Standards（NAAQS）. For Diwali-2011, the increase in PM_（10） and PM_2.5mass concentrations was much less with their peaks of 600 and of 390 μg/m^3 respectively, as compared to the background concentrations. Contrary to previous reports,firework display was not found to strongly influence the NO_x, and O_3 mixing ratios, with the increase within the observed variability in the background. CO mixing ratios showed an increase. We show that the large difference in 2010 and 2011 pollutant concentrations is controlled by weather parameters.

The use of turbo codes enhances the data transmission efficiency and optimizes the performance of a communication system over wireless fading channels. In this paper, we present a brief overview of the various components of the turbo coding scheme, analyze the complexities of the most popular turbo decoding algorithms, and discuss the various implementation methods of the maximum a posteriori (MAP) algorithm. The paper considers the well-known log-MAP decoding algorithm by a linear approximation of the correction function used by the max* operator. We propose a generalized decoding scheme that optimizes the existing MAP algorithm for faster convergence and better throughput on the basis of varying channel conditions. The proposed scheme of decoding reduces complexity and enhances the throughput with only a negligible loss in BER performance.

The U-type hexaferrites(Ba_(1−3x)La_(2x))4Co_(2)Fe_(36)O_(60)(x=0,0.05,0.10,0.15,0.20,0.25)have been synthesized by auto-combustion *** work involves the study of structural,microstructural,dielectric,magnetic and magneto-dielectric properties of the prepared *** structural analysis has been done by X-ray diffraction technique along with Le Bail refinement which confirmed the pure hexagonal phase for all the *** microstructural analysis has been carried out by field-emission scanning electron *** vibrating sample magnetometer is used to measure the magnetic *** sample with a composition of x=0.15 has shown the maximum magnetization of approximately 73.31 emu/g with the remnant magnetization of 38.89 emu/g and coercive field of 1.77 kOe at room ***,the same sample has delivered the maximum mag-netodielectric response of about 54.18%at 1.5-T field.
