In the present paper, Charpy impact resistance of aluminum-epoxy laminated composites in both crack divider and crack ar-rester configurations has been investigated. In both configurations, an analytical investigation has been carried out to evaluate the effects of layers thickness on impact resistance of the specimens. A model based on fuzzy logic for predicting impact re-sistance of the specimens has been presented. For purpose of building the model, training and testing using experimental re-sults from 126 specimens produced from two basic composites were conducted. The data used for the input data in fuzzy logic models are arranged in a format of 7 input parameters that cover the thickness of layers, the number of layers, the adhesive type, the crack tip configuration, the content of SiC particles, the content of methacrylated butadiene-styrene particles and the number of test trial. According to these input parameters, in the fuzzy logic model, the impact resistance of each specimen was predicted. The training and testing results in the fuzzy logic model have shown a strong potential for predicting impact resis-tance of aluminum-epoxy laminated composites.

Modeling and direct numerical simulation of particle-laden flows have a tremendous variety of applications in science and engineering across a vast spectrum of scales from pollution dispersion in the atmosphere,to fluidization in the combustion process,to aerosol deposition in spray medication,along with many *** to their strongly nonlinear and multiscale nature,the above complex phenomena still raise a very steep challenge to themost *** this review,we provide comprehensive coverage of multibody hydrodynamic(MBH)problems focusing on particulate suspensions in complex fluidic systems that have been simulated using hybrid Eulerian-Lagrangian particulate flow *** these hybridmodels,the Immersed Boundary-Lattice Boltzmann Method(IB-LBM)provides mathematically simple and computationally-efficient algorithms for solid-fluid hydrodynamic interactions in MBH *** paper elaborates on the mathematical framework,applicability,and limitations of various’simple to complex’representations of closecontact interparticle interactions and collision methods,including short-range interparticle and particle-wall steric interactions,spring and lubrication forces,normal and oblique collisions,and mesoscale molecular models for deformable particle collisions based on hard-sphere and soft-sphere models in MBH models to simulate settling or flow of nonuniform particles of different geometric shapes and sizes in diverse fluidic systems.

Objective: To assess prevalence of cyclical mastalgia and its main determinants in women who attended in health centers of Hamadan City, ***: This case–control study was conducted on 400 women(case: cyclical mastalgia, n = 240; control: without cyclical mastalgia, n = 160) who attended family planning clinic for routine follow-up in health centers. The cluster sampling was *** was collected by interviewing and using a standardized validated questionnaire. Severity of mastalgia was assessed through using visual analog scaling. Data processing and statistical analysis were performed by using SPSS ***: The results revealed that majority of women(60.0%) experienced cyclical *** of these, 22.5% and 37.5% were mild and moderate-to-severe mastalgia, respectively. No association was revealed in experience of depression and anxiety in mastalgia group. In a multivariable logistic regression model, the increasing age, age of marriage, history of abortion and history of premenstrual syndrome were main determinants of mastalgia, while use of oral contraceptive and regular exercise was associated with lower incidence of ***: Most of women with breast discomfort suffered cyclical mastalgia which severity can be determined by advanced age, age of marriage, history of abortion and history of premenstrual syndrome, but inversely by oral contraceptive use and exercise activity.

BACKGROUND Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)is a chronic autoimmune disorder impacting multiple organs,influenced by genetic factors,especially those related to the immune ***,there is a need for new biomarkers in ***-125a(miR-125a)levels are decreased in T cells,B cells,and dendritic cells of SLE ***-125a plays a regulatory role in controlling the levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)and interleukin 12(IL-12),which are crucial pro-inflammatory cytokines in SLE *** To assess the levels of miR-125a,IL-12,and TNF-αin SLE patients’plasma,evaluating their diagnostic and prognostic *** The study included 100 healthy individuals,50 newly diagnosed(ND),and 50 SLE patients undergoing *** patients were monitored for a duration of 24 wk to observe and record instances of ***-125a expression was measured using real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction,while ELISA kits were used to assess IL-12 and TNF-α*** The results showed significantly reduced miR-125a expression in SLE patients compared to healthy individuals,with the lowest levels in ND ***-αand IL-12 expression levels were significantly elevated in SLE patients,especially in the early stages of the *** operating characteristic curve analyses,and Cox-Mantel Log-rank tests indicated miR-125a,TNF-α,and IL-12 as proper diagnostic biomarkers for SLE.A negative correlation was found between plasma miR-125a expression and IL-12/TNF-αlevels in SLE *** Decreased miR-125a levels may be involved in the development of SLE,while elevated levels of IL-12 and TNF-αcontribute to immune *** findings offer new diagnostic and prognostic markers for ***,the negative correlation observed suggests an interaction between miR-125a,TNF-α,and *** research is necessary to uncover the underlying mechanisms that govern these relationships.

Most of water based drilling fluids easily penetrate into shale formations and cause serious problems such as well instability,destruction of the formation,wall pipe folding and pipe *** present research aims to assess the effects of alumina nano-particles(alpha and gamma)on shale/clay stability due to the unique specifications of alumina(alpha and gamma)nano *** SEM,XRD,EDAX and AFM analyses of recovered shale samples indicate that the average size of alpha alumina nano-particles coating the shale surface and the pores existing in the shale is between 25 and 35 nm,whereas the average size of gamma alumina nano-particles coating the shale surface and the pores present in the shale is between 20 and 30 *** addition,samples recovered by nano-alpha reveal more porosity remained in the shale sample in comparison with the nano-gamma ***,the results obtained from EDAX illustrate a suitable nano-gamma alumina over the recovered *** experiment with five types of drilling fluid without the presence of potassium chloride as an inhibitor salt ***,the water based drilling fluid containing nano-gamma alumina with less than 1%wt was chosen as the best ***,the presence of alumina nano-particles optimizes the stability of formations containing ions like shale.

Objective:To investigate the prevalence of head lice in primary and middle school children in Asadabad,***:This study is an analytical descriptive cross-sectional one conducted among primary and middle school children in Asadabad during the academic year of 2013–*** were collected at baseline via questionnaire,checklist and head ***:A total of 600 students were examined(412 girls and 188 boys),and 14 students showed *** the total prevalence rate was 2.3%(3.2% girls and 0.5% boys).The infestation was equal in public and private *** rate of pediculosis was higher in students of primary schools(4.0%) than those in middle schools(0.7%).The age of the students ranged from 6 to 14 *** total number of infected group was 14 with mean age of 8.93 ± 2.43 years,and it was 586 with mean age of 10.98 ± 2.82 years for the uninfected group who were enrolled in the study(P 0.05).Conclusions:It is necessary to find the risk factors of the infection in order to understand how to control or decrease infection in students,considering the important role of health education in reduction of head lice infections.

Toxoplasma gondii and human immunodeficiency virus co-infection in western Iran: A cross sectional study

Objective: To determine Toxoplasma gondii(T. gondii) as a cause of morbidity and mortality in human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) infected patients by ELISA method and to investigate toxoplasmosis-associated risk factors. Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted with 385 patients with HIV/AIDS referred to the behavior disease consultation center in Kermanshah, Iran between May 2012 and June 2013. Anti-Toxoplasma IgG and IgM antibodies were measured by using the ELISA method. Also, the relationship between the infection and age, gender, education, occupation, antiretroviral status, CD4+ cell counts and some other factors of the patients were assessed. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:Among the HIV-positive patients, 40.8%(157/358) and 2.6%(10/358) patients were positive for anti-T. gondii IgG and IgM antibodies, respectively. The mean CD4+ count in the patients with HIV was 327 cells/μL. A significant correlation was observed between the toxoplasmosis infections with the age group(P<0.05). Nevertheless, no statistically significant difference was found between gender, living area, educational level, occupational, marital status, antiretroviral status, prophylaxis, CD4+ cell count and toxoplasmosis. Conclusions: This study revealed that the patients with HIV infection were at the high risk of developing toxoplasmosis disease especially those patients who do not receive antiretroviral therapy and prophylaxis. The development and use of the effectiveness-based guidelines for controlling and the prevention reactivation of the latent T. gondii infection is required.
