Evaluation of hypolipidemic Marrubium vulgare effect in Triton WR-1339-induced hyperlipidemia in mice

Objective: To evaluate the hypocholesterolemic and hypotriglyceridemic activities of four Marrbium vulgare(M. vulgare) herb extracts using Triton WR-1339-induced hyperlipidemia in mice. Methods: Hyperlipidemia was developed by intraperitoneal injection of Triton(200 mg/kg body weight). The animals were divided into main four groups of eight mice each: normal control group, hyperlipidemic control group, hyperlipidemic plus tween-40 control and treated group. The fourth one was divided into four subgroups, petroleum ether extract group, chloroform extract group, ethyl acetate extract group and methanol extract treated group each of them contains two sub-sub group for treating animals with two doses at 0.1 and 0.25 LD50. Results: After 7 h and 24 h of treatment, the intragastric administration of all extracts caused a significant decrease of plasma total cholesterol. Triglyceride levels were also significantly lowered by all extracts while petroleum ether produced the lowest decreasing level. Similar results were observed for LDL-cholesterol concentrations. furthermore, more polar extracts(methanol and ethyl acetate)-soluble fractions showed a significant ameliorative action on elevated atherogenic index(AI) and LDL/HDL-C ratios, while these atherogenic markers were not statistically suppressed by the chloroform and petroleum ether-soluble extract. Conclusion: The findings indicated that Marrubium may contain polar products able to lower plasma lipid concentrations and might be beneficial in treatment of hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis.

Intrinsic luminescence centers in γ- and θ-alumina nanoparticles

In this study, we investigate the photoluminescence （PL） properties of γ and θ-alumina nanoparticles synthesized by the chemical wet method followed by annealing. The obtained experimental results indicate the presence of some favorable near ultraviolet （NUV）-orange luminescent centers for usage in various luminescence applications, such as oxygen vacancies （f, f＋, f2＋, and f2 centers）, OH related defects, cation interstitial centers, and some new luminescence bands attributed to trapped-hole centers or donor-acceptor centers. The energy states of each defect are discussed in detail. The defects mentioned could alter the electronic structure by producing some energy states in the band gap that result in the optical absorption in the middle ultraviolet （MUV） region. Spectra show that photoionazation of f and f2 centers plays a crucial role in providing either free electrons for the conduction band, or the photoconversions of aggregated oxygen va- cancies into each other, or mobile electrons for electrons-holes recombination process by the Shockley-Read-Hall （SRH） mechanism.

DTLM-DBP:Deep Transfer Learning Models for DNA Binding Proteins Identification

The identification of DNA binding proteins(DNABPs)is considered a major challenge in genome annotation because they are linked to several important applied and research applications of cellular functions e.g.,in the study of the biological,biophysical,and biochemical effects of antibiotics,drugs,and steroids on *** paper presents an efficient approach for DNABPs identification based on deep transfer learning,named“DTLM-DBP.”Two transfer learning methods are used in the identification *** first is based on the pre-trained deep learning model as a feature’s extractor and *** different pre-trained Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN),AlexNet 8 and VGG 16,are tested and *** second method uses the deep learning model as a feature’s extractor only and two different classifiers for the identification *** classifiers,Support Vector Machine(SVM)and Random forest(Rf),are tested and *** proposed approach is tested using different DNA proteins *** performance of the identification process is evaluated in terms of identification accuracy,sensitivity,specificity and MCC,with four available DNA proteins datasets:PDB1075,PDB186,PDNA-543,and *** results show that the Rf classifier,with VGG-Net pre-trained deep transfer learning features,gives the highest ***-DBP was compared with other published methods and it provides a considerable improvement in the performance of DNABPs identification.

Involvement of Quebracho tannins in diet alters productive and reproductive efficiency of postpartum buffalo cows

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of 10 weeks supplementation of Quebracho tannins(QT; 0 [control], 100 [QT100] or 200 g/[cow$d] [QT_(200)]) to 30 multiparous postpartum buffalo cows(10 cows per group) on milk yield and composition, blood metabolites and reproductive *** of QT100 had no significant effect on milk yield, whereas QT_(200) decreased(P fat-corrected milk(fCM)yield, but no significant effects were found on percentages of milk fat and protein. Contrariwise, yields of milk fat, lactose and milk protein were decreased(P fat(SNf) percentage and yield were decreased(P f ovarian follicles, number of small follicles, peripheral progesterone concentration and conception rate. Supplementation of QT_(200) numerically increased number of large follicles, mean diameter of large follicle, number and diameters of corpora lutea. The inclusion of QT_(200) shortened days open(DO) and decreased number of services per ***, QT did not show significant effects on serum total protein, albumin, globulin, glucose,cholesterol and triglycerides concentrations. Supplementation of QT100 caused an increase(P f serum urea compared with that in control and QT_(200) groups. Generally, QT decreased(P fore, the supplementation of a commercial QT to early lactating Egyptian buffalo cows displayed negative consequences on their productive and reproductive performances.

四纹豆象Callosobruchus maculatus(f.)是伊朗豇豆种子上的主要贮藏害虫。控制这一害虫时,用生物杀虫剂比用常规杀虫剂更为合适。本研究评价了室内条件下在玻璃表面上硅藻土和多杀菌素对四纹豆象成虫的致死效应和亚致死效应。结果表明:硅藻土处理24h和48h后,对四纹豆象成虫的LC50值分别为1.47和0.2g/m2;多杀菌素处理24h和48h后,对四纹豆象成虫的LC50值分别为102.9和68.8mgai/L,说明两种化合物都对四纹豆象成虫具有较高的急性毒性。通过检测生物学参数,研究了LC20浓度的硅藻土和多杀菌素对四纹豆象的亚致死效应。LC20浓度的硅藻土和多杀菌素使四纹豆象成虫的繁殖力分别比对照降低了71.5%和17.2%,卵孵化率降低了57.5%和27.8%,成虫寿命缩短了74.7%和17.1%。接触LC20浓度的硅藻土和多杀菌素使这一害虫的蛹期分别比对照延长了4.8%和2.3%。亚致死效应研究表明,硅藻土和多杀菌素对四纹豆象的生命参数均产生了负面影响。总之,致死效应和亚致死效应综合显示,硅藻土在防治四纹豆象上具有较大的潜力。

在害虫治理中,在消费或贮藏粮食加工产品的建筑设施或场所进行害虫防治需要将杀虫剂施用在各种基质表面上。为了测定不同基质表面上杀虫剂的药效,将四纹豆象Callosobruchus maculatus(f.)成虫接触田间推荐剂量的阿维菌素、溴氰菊酯和毒死蜱。结果表明:施用在玻璃、瓷砖、塑料和纸盘表面上,阿维菌素对四纹豆象成虫的致死率分别为63.33%,22.41%,12.9%和11.9%,而溴氰菊酯在这4种基质表面上对四纹豆象成虫的致死率分别为55%,44.2%,41.3%和37.4%。在所有基质表面上接触毒死蜱,四纹豆象成虫的死亡率均为100%。对数据进行的Probit分析表明,毒死蜱制剂在玻璃、瓷砖、塑料和纸盘上对四纹豆象成虫的LC50值分别为8.66,13.6,29.16和56.5μg/mL,阿维菌素制剂的相应数值分别为119.4,446.2,774.2和836.4μg/mL,溴氰菊酯制剂的相应数值分别为1008,1131,1210和1336μg/mL。据此推断,毒死蜱对四纹豆象的毒性最强,且在玻璃、瓷砖、塑料和纸盘表面上的毒性依次降低。

昆虫病原真菌与硅藻土混用对四纹豆象的毒力效果(英文)

在室内条件下检测了白僵菌Beauveria bassiana（Balsamo）Vuillemin菌株IRAN-187C和金龟子绿僵菌Metarhizium anisopliae （Metschnikow）Sorokin菌株 A-396 分别与硅藻土（DE）制剂（InsectoSec）~混用对四纹豆象Callosobruchus maculatus成虫的毒力效果。结果表明：硅藻土与致死剂量和亚致死剂量的真菌分离物混用导致了四纹豆象成虫的高死亡率,且这些处理均缩短了真菌的致死中时（LT50）。LC50的白僵菌***菌株IRAN-187C和LC50的DE混用对四纹豆象的 LT50（122.2h）最低,在95%置信限上与LC50的金龟子绿僵菌***菌株A-396与LC50的DE混用得到的LT50（128.2h）相当,说明两种真菌分离物与DE混用对四纹豆象成虫都具有较好的毒力效果。用四纹豆象成虫检测3个温度（22,27和30℃）和2个相对湿度（40%和55%）组合对DE活性的影响,结果显示30℃和40%相对湿度条件下得到的LT50（110.11h）最低,说明高温低湿条件下DE活性较高。

Lack of estrogen receptors expression in malignant and pre-malignant colorectal lesions in Egyptian patients

Background: incidence of Colorectal cancer (CRC) is increasing globally. In Egypt, CRC ranks the sixth most common cancer in males and the fifth in females. Aim: To assess the expression of estrogen receptors (alpha and beta) in pre-malignant (adenomatous polyps and IBD), malignant colorectal lesions and normal colonic mucosa in group of Egyptian patients. Methods: This prospective study was done on 45 patients presenting with colonic symptoms, patients were divided into four groups;15 CRC patients, 10 patients with adenomatous polyps, 10 IBD patients and 10 patients in the control group. Patients subjected to: Stool analysis, fOBT, CBC, CEA, Abdominal ultrasound & colonoscopy and biopsy (number = 80), Pathological, immunohistochemistry and RT- PCR quantification of ERα and ERβ were done. Results: Mean age: 39.2 (12 - 73), gender: M/f: 28/17. Bleeding per rectum was the commonest presentation;29/45 (64.4%). CEA was significantly elevated in the CRC group compared with other studied groups (1692 mg/L vs. 4.0, 4.0 and 4.4 mg/L). Ultrasonography of the studied patients showed that metastatic CRC: 3/15 (20%);Colonic wall thickening: 5/15 (33.3%), 1/10 showed colonic polypoidal lesions in adenomatous polyps groups, in IBD group: 4/10 (40%) showed colonic and ileocecal thicknening. All the studied patients showed negative results for estrogen receptors (alpha and beta) by the use of immunohistochemistry staining and RT-PCR technique. Conclusion: Role of estrogen receptors in the colonic mucosa, precancerous and colorectal cancer is doubtful, contradictory results with some literature data could be due to racial and genetic difference in the studied population.
