The Role of Formed Microorganism in Sludge on Processing of Wastewater Treatment

Several microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, Protozoa, Rotifera, cystic amoeba and algae diagnosed in activated sludge aerobic （Rustumiya treatment plant） and anaerobic reactor. Results have shown a reduction in the turbidity rates when using activated sludge at Rustumiya plant of 76.3 to 2.653 NTU in pre-treatment and final tank respectively, also COD （chemical oxygen demand） amount reduced from 427.263 to 82 mg/L respectively, In addition, concentrations of phosphates and nitrates decreased from 12.083 to 8.426 mg/L and 3.59 to 2.43 mg/L respectively, by removing 30.2% and 32.3% respectively of the final tank. The ratio of ammonia removing was 89.6% for ammonia, reducing process from 1358 to 140 mg/L. Furthermore, sulfates concentration decreased from 30.883 to 23.337 mg/L. However, the system in the anaerobic reactor depends on non-aerated activated sludge. Results show turbidity reduced from 12.5 to 2 NTU in pre-treatment and final tank respectively, also the COD mount reduced from 191 to 130 mg/L, the percentage removal of 31.9%. In addition phosphates, nitrates and sulfates concentrations were decreased by using activated sludge from 17.15 to 8.15, 1.2 to 0.1 and 28 to 9.2 mg/L respectively. The ammonia concentration has reduced from 1.2 to 0. i mg/L where at a removal percentage of 90.9%.

Caste differentiation in termites is one of the most conspicuous examples of facultative polyphenism in *** is clear that specific cuticular formation occurs in hard exocuticles during caste ***,the developmental pattern of the soft endocuticle in the differentiation pathways of castes is *** reveal whether the endocuticle is involved in caste differentiation,we compared the exocuticle and endocuticle thickness of individuals in 2 pathways(nymph line and worker line)of caste differentiation in the termite Reticulitermes *** endocuticle protein genes were identified by transcriptome analysis and the expression patterns of these genes were confirmed in caste *** found that the endocuticle structure showed dynamic changes in 2 pathways,and the first difference in endocuticle structure occurred after larvae differentiation bifurcated into workers and *** thinning of the endocuticle was a significant event from nymphs developing into alates with the thickest exocuticle and thinnest *** thickest endocuticle layers were found in the heads of the workers and the ultrastructure of the endocuticle in the heads was more complex than that in the thorax–*** endocuticle protein genes were identified and annotated as endocuticle structural glycoproteins SgAbd-2,SgAbd-9,and *** expression levels of endocuticle protein genes changed dramatically during caste development and the expression levels in neotenic reproductives(secondary reproductives)were significantly higher than those in alates(primary reproductives).These results reveal the roles of endocuticles in caste differentiation and adaptation to the environment.

This paper describes a facile in‐situ synthesis of palladium nanoparticles （Pd NPs） on silica gel/polydopamine composite（SiO2/PDA） without any stabilizer or reducing agent. In this approach, palladium ions were adsorbed on SiO2/PDA surfaces by immersing the PDA‐coated SiO2 particles in a palladium plating bath. Then, they were reduced in situ to Pd nanoclusters by the reducing ability of PDA＇s N‐containing groups. The structure, morphology, and physicochemical properties of the synthesized nanocomposites were characterized by different analytical techniques such as high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy, field‐emission scanning electron microscopy, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction analysis, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma and Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy. The Pd NPs capped by the PDA groups had a strikingly small size（30–40 nm）. SiO2/PDA/Pd NPs exhibited high catalytic activ‐ity as a recyclable nanocatalyst in the aerobic oxidation of alcohols. Furthermore, recovery and multiple reuse of the catalyst revealed no detectable activity loss.

Prospective Study on Effectiveness of Belfast Regime on Flexion Tendon Injury Zone V Using Tam Scoring

About 20% of injuries presented in the emergency room that require surgical repair involve the hand. Most of these injuries result from sharp objects such as glass and knives, and blades in case of suicide. In Pakistan, the most common injuries occur at the junction between the transverse distal crease on the wrist and the forearm muscles (zone 5). Wrist injuries are difficult to repair since they result in the tendon, ulnar and median nerve and arteries abrasion. In addition, an inadequate approach could damage abrasion and swelling of the flexor muscles, risking the functioning of the hand. A good outcome necessitates prioritizing the flexor muscles to avoid swelling and hand dysfunction. The objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of Belfast rehabilitation in the treatment of flexion tendon injury. The process of rehabilitation was carried out for a period of 2 years. Using the Belfast regime as a post-rehabilitation regime ensures no adhesion formation, swelling, or delayed healing.

Changes in Serum Lipid Profile among Patients Suffering from Chronic Liver Disease Secondary to Hepatitis C

Objective: To find out the changes in lipid metabolism among patients suffering from chronic liver disease secondary to hepatitis C. Study Design: Hospital based observational study. Setting: Medical Unit-I, Ward–5, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi. Duration: July 2013 to December 2013. Patients and Methods: About 110 patients admitted in Medical Unit-I with a diagnosis of chronic liver disease were included in the study. Patients suffering from DM, HTN, CKD were excluded from the study. Fasting lipid profile was done in all cases. Results and Observations: There were 44 (40%) male and 66 (60%) female patients. Mean age of the patients was 50.18 (±11.7) years. Total cholesterol was decreased in 76 (69.09%) patients. Normal range was present in 34 (30.91%) patients. None of the patient had hypercholesterolemia. Serum triglyceride levels were low in 14 (12.72%) patients, normal in 82 (74.54%), borderline high in 7 (6.36%) and hypertriglyceridemia was seen in 7 (6.36%). HDL-c was below normal in 26 (23.63%) cases, normal in 78 (70.91%), and high in 6 (5.45%). LDL was near optimal/above optimal in only 5 (4.5%) patients. Mean TC/HDL ratio was 2.53 (±1.02). Mean LDL/HDL ratio was 1.23 (±0.73). Mean TC of HCV +ve patients was 130.5 mg/dl as compared to that of HCV –ve patients which was 82.85 mg/dl (P-value: 0.011). Mean TGs of HCV +ve group was 151.5 mg/dl while that of HCV –ve was 79.9 mg/dl (P-value: 0.025). Mean HDL & LDL levels were 43.67 mg/dl and 39.78 mg/dl in HCV group while 34.83 mg/dl & 64.67 mg/dl in the other group with P-value of 0.026 and 0.081 respectively. Conclusion: When it comes to its relationship with lipid metabolism, HCV is a remarkable virus. Its interaction with lipoproteins and its ability to induce massive steatosis are quite unique and idiosyncratic.
