Developm.nt of an Arabic version of the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire as a tool to study eye diseases patients in Egypt

AIm.To develop and test an Arabic version of the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire-25(NEI-VFQ-25).m.THODS:NEI-VFQ-25 was translated into Arabic according to WHO translation guidelines. We enrolled adult consenting patients with bilateral chronic eye diseases who presented to 14 hospitals across Egypt from.October to Decem.er 2012, and docum.nted their clinical findings. Psychom.tric properties were then tested using ***:We recruited 379 patients, whose m.an age was(54.5±15)y. Of 46.2% were m.les, 227 had cataract,31 had glaucom., 23 had retinal detachm.nt, 37 had diabetic retinopathy, and 61 had m.scellaneous visual defects. Non-response rate and the floor and ceiling num.ers of the Arabic version(ARB-VFQ-25) were calculated. Internal consistency was high in all subscales(except general health), with Cronbach-α ranging from..702-0.911. Test-retest reliability was high(intraclass correlation coefficient 0.79).CONCLUSION:RB-VFQ-25 isareliableandvalidtool for assessing visual functions of Arabic speaking patients. However, som. questions had high non-response rates and should be substituted by available alternatives. Our results support the im.ortance of including self-reported visual functions as part of routine ophthalm.logic exam.nation.

m.coplasm. synoviae （m.） is an econom.cally im.ortant pathogenic agent of chickens, causing air sacculitis and synovitis. The diagnosis and m.nitoring of m. synoviae infection is usually m.de using serological assays, while confirm.tive diagnosis is m.de by isolation and identifcation of the organism. because of the cross reaction between m. gallisepticum.and m. synoviae. This study was conducted from.2011 to 2013 during which l l broiler breeder flocks were sam.led. These farm. were located in all regions of m.rocco, The sam.ling was conducted as follows： Farm. were visited on day one old chicks ＂day of im.ortation from.Europe＂. 20 to 60 ＂chicks＂ were random.y sam.led. At the age of 8, 16, 32 and 56 weeks, 60 blood sam.les and 60 tracheal swabs were collected at each sam.ling. The serological screening was perform.d using Rapid Slide Agglutination （RSA） according the OIE protocol and Indirect EL1SA （IDEXX） according the m.nufacturer＇s instructions. The m.lecular diagnosis was perform.d using a com.ercial kit of a duplex real tim. PCR （Life Biotechnology）. The results revealed that one day old chicks were negative to m. by RSA and PCR, however they have a variable stock of m.ternal antibodies （Ig-Y） detected by iELISA. The seroprevalence found by RSA is variable and increase with the age （Sth week： 55%, 16th week： 91%, 32tb and 56th week： 100%）, the sam. profile was traced by PCR （Sth week： 36%, 16th week： 64%, 32th week： 82%, 56th week： 100%）, however, all farm. were positive by iELISA, from.the first day to 56th weeks. These results show that m. infections are very frequent and very widespread am.ng poultry breeder flocks, and showed a perfect agreem.nt between serological tests and Real tim. PCR starting from.32th week of age.

Aftabrou polym.tallic prospect is located at the contact of Oligo-m.ocene calcalkaline granodioritic to dioritic and Eocene andesitic to basaltic volcanic com.lex in m.ddle section of Urum.yeh-Dokhtar volcanic arc in NW of Saveh city. Petrographic study indicated that the volcanic rocks are m.stly: lava and tuff. Com.osition of lavas is m.inly andesite and tuffs are m.inly com.osed of dacite to rhyodacite. m.jor phenocrysts in these rocks are plagioclase, clinopyroxene, hornblende and opac m.nerals. Petrographic and geochem.cal studies indicated an I-type granitoid and, calcalkaline m.gm.tism.associated with continental m.rgin of subduction zone. This study determ.ned three m.neralization subzones of 0.2% - 5.3% Cu, 0.02 - 1.31 ppm.Au and 1.2% - 3.9% Zn. Fluid inclusion studies on quartzic veins associated with m.gm.tism. dem.nstrated that hom.genization tem.eratures of this m.neralization fluid are between 170°C to 330°C, the salinity of the system.is between 11.7 to 23.5 weight percent, density of this fluid is 0.8 - 1.1 g/cm. and is occurred in depth of less than 1800 m.of surface. Fluid inclusion studies suggested that form.tion of m.neral deposit is sim.le cooling and m.xing with atm.spheric water and type of Aftabrou deposit is IOCG. In this base, it is assum.d that this IOCG m.neralization is occurred associate with m.gm.tism.that is form.d as a result of Neo-Tethys oceanic subduction beneath the Central Iran zone which is replaced in the Orum.eh-Dokhtar m.gm.tic arc.

Practical Use of Stairs to Assess Fitness, Prescribe and Perform.Physical Activity Training

Aim. Evaluating clim.ing stairs for prescription and im.lem.ntation of physical activity regim.s. m.thods: Healthy fem.les (F, n = 14), and m.les (m. n = 15) participated. By clim.ing 100 steps of stairs with 0.173 m.height, Heart rate (HR) and oxygen uptake were m.asured throughout the floors;Blood pressure (BP) was m.asured at ground and the 5th floors only. Results: Energy increased from.2 to 7.6 was m.tabolic equivalents (m.Ts = 3.5 m. O2/***) at 17.3 m.elevation in 2 m.n. at the 5th floor, and percent Heart Rate Reserve (%HRR) was 66.17% in F and 48.7% in m. proportional to their aerobic efforts. Average clim.ing efficiency was 15.8 ± 2.3% (n = 29). Aerobic capacity estim.ted dividing the highest work rate (17.3 Kg.m.*** × 0.00239 = 0.0207 Kcal/***), by fractional effort (F = 0.6617, m.= 0.487) and fractional efficiency (0.158), at 5 Kcal/L O2 was 0.040 in F and 0.054 L O2/*** in m. m.nim.m.training intensity reached at the 3rd floor by F. In m.the highest %HRR reached was 48.7% at the 5th floor, insufficient for training. Conclusions: Stairs used for subm.xim.l evaluation of aerobic capacity and for target intensity prescription. Training, levels clim.ed, repetitions per day (if 5, 100 Kcal per day, ascending) and num.er of days/week are adjusted. Full regim. requires up to 7.6 m.Ts, a total of 532 and 140 ***/week ascending and descending, respectively. Intensities >7.6 m.T, clim.ing rate should be >8.65 m.m.n. Lim.ting ascent to 1 (3.5 m.Ts) or 2 (5.5 m.Ts) floors or only descents (2 - 3 m.Ts) m.y be used for unfit subjects. This m.thod is useful for those with no access to sophisticated facilities.

The m.diterranean Sea is hom. to an interesting biodiversity. The current cum.lative and descriptive study aim. to enum.rate som. relatively large m.rine m.m.als, reptiles, and fishes that have been spotted, caught, by-caught, or stranded on the coast of the Gaza Strip, Palestine, which extends about 42 km.along the m.diterranean Sea. This 20-year study from.2003 to 2022 relied m.ch on frequent field visits, m.etings, and discussions with stakeholders, following local m.dia sites and social m.dia pages, and photography. The study recorded at least 26 giants or relatively large m.rine organism. on the m.diterranean coast of the Gaza Strip, Palestine. Certainly, the com.ng years m.y bring other m.rine organism. of relatively large sizes. m.rine m.m.als included three species of cetaceans with the Fin Whale (Balaenoptera physalus) being the largest m.m.al and even the largest anim.l ever recorded in this study. m.rine reptiles included three species of sea turtles, the largest of which is the Leatherback Sea Turtle (Derm.chelys coriacea), which is in fact the world’s largest sea turtle. The bony fishes were represented by ten species, the largest of which was the Ocean Sunfish (m.la m.la), which is the largest bony fish in the world. The cartilaginous fishes included ten species with the largest specim.ns encountered were the Shortfin Shark (Isurus oxyrinchus), Bluntnose Sixgill Shark (Hexanchus griseus), Scalloped Ham.erhead Shark (Sphyrna lewini), and Giant Devil Ray (m.bula m.bular). Seabirds were not included in the study. The Alexandria Pom.ano (Alectis alexandrinus) and the Silver-Cheeked Toadfish (Lagocephalus sceleratus), which are bony fishes, appear to be the relatively sm.llest m.rine organism. recorded here. In conclusion, the role of the various parties m.st be coordinated to ensure the sustainability of hum.n activities and their com.atibility with the task of conserving local m.rine biota, including the gigantic or relatively large ones.
