Synergistic interaction between redox-active electrolytes and functionalized carbon in increasing the performance of electric double-layer capacitors

The increasing demand of high-performance supercapacitors has aroused great interest in developing specific capacitance and energy density. Active carbon （AC） has attracted much attention as a promising electrode material for electric double-layer capacitors （EDLCs）. Here, a facile strategy has been employed to fabricate high-performance EDLCs using the surface-oxygen functionalized active carbon （FAC） as an electrode and 2 M KOH with K3Fe（CN）6 as an electrolyte. In this system, K3Fe（CN）6 was used as a redox additive to enhance the performance of EDLCs. A 38.5% increase in specific capacitance （207.7 F g-1） was achieved compared with the KOH electrolyte without adding K3Fe（CN）G （152.9 F g-1）, due to the synergistic effects between oxygenic functional groups and redox electrolyte. These findings provide an alternative route to improve the performance of EDLCs, which are promising candidates for the broad applications of high-performance supercapacitors.

Cadmium bioaccumulation in three benthic fish species, salaria basilisca, Zosterisessor ophiocephalus and Solea vulgaris collected from the Gulf of Gabes in Tunisia

To select a marine teleost fish which can be used as a bioindicator of cadmium （Cd） pollution in the Gulf of Gabes in Tunisia, Cd concentrations in liver and gill were compared in three benthic fish species including salaria basilisca, Zosterisessor ophiocephalus and Solea vulgaris. Fish samples were collected from three selected sites in the Gulf of Gabes, with different degrees of Cd contamination： the industrialized coast of Sfax （S 1）, the coast of Douar Chatt （S2） and the coast of Luza （S3）. The results shows that Cd concentrations in both sediment and water collected from S1 were significantly higher （t9 〈 0.0001） than those from S2 and S3. For each species, Cd concentrations, in both liver and gill, showed the decreasing order： S 1 〉 S2 〉 S3. The highest concentration of Cd was detected in the liver of S. basilisca, and only S. basilisca showed bioaccumulation factors （BAF） greater than 1 in all studied sites. In S 1 and S2, BAF values respect the following order： S. basilisca 〉 Z. ophiocephalus 〉 S. vulgaris. These results of significant bioaccumulation of Cd, in terms of hepatic concentrations and bioaccumulation factors, indicated that S. basilisca can be used as bioindicator to evaluate the evolution of Cd pollution in the Gulf of Gabes.

In last decades,macrofungi have attracted increasing attention because of their valuable nutritional and medicinal *** this study,a total of 180 macrofungal samples were collected from forests in mazandaran province,*** dominant orders were Polyporales(51%)and Agaricales(35%).Pure mycelial cultures were successfully obtained from 91 collected *** morphological data,47 isolates were selected for molecular identification based on internal transcribed spacer region(ITS)sequence *** results showed that the 38 macrofungal isolates were belonging to 22 species,19 genera,10 families and 5 *** of the macrofungi(47%)were identified as Trametes species and Ganoderma *** isolates identified as Hohenbuehelia species,Polyporellus brumalis and Ceriporia lacerata were records as a new to the Iran fungal *** study increases the knowledge on Iranian macrofungal diversity and facilitates future genetic and biotechnological investigations on these macrofungi.

Over the past century,ferroelectricity has offered exciting opportunities for fundamental research and device ***,most of the discovered excellent ferroelectrics are oxide materials with large band gaps,limiting their potential for optoelectronics *** using first-principles calculations we identify a new narrow-gap ferroelectric beyond oxides,i.e.,ferroelectric perovskite sulphide BaZrS_(3).Under large compressive strains,BaZrS_(3)can be stabilized into a unique supertetragonal phase with an extraordinary polarization of 67.16μC/cm^(2),which is even stronger than that of conventional oxide ***,the supertetragonal BaZrS_(3)exhibits a direct narrow band gap of 1.2 eV and excellent electronic *** on the chemical bonding analysis,we attribute the formation of supertetragonal phase to charge re-ordering in which theπbond overlap along the long〈Zr-S〉bond completely vanishes and the antibonding states of theσbond appear below the Fermi *** work provides a conceptual strategy for designing new ferroelectrics for electronic and photovoltaic applications.

In this work, three kinds of ultrathin tremella-like MnO2 have been simply synthesized by decomposing KMnO4 under mild hydrothermal conditions. When applied as electrode materials, they all exhibited excellent electrochemical performance. The as- prepared MnO2 samples were characterized by means of XRD, SEM, TEM and XPS. Additionally, the relationship of the crystalline nature with the electrochemical performance was investigated. Among the three samples, the product with the poorest crystallinity had the highest capacitance of 220 Fig at a current density of 0.1 A/g. It is thought that the ultrathin MnO2 nanostructures can serve as promising electrode materials for supercapacitors.

In intelligent transportation system(ITS), the interworking of vehicular networks(VN) and cellular networks(CN) is proposed to provide high-data-rate services to vehicles. As the network access quality for CN and VN is location related, mobile data offloading(MDO), which dynamically selects access networks for vehicles, should be considered with vehicle route planning to further improve the wireless data throughput of individual vehicles and to enhance the performance of the entire ITS. In this paper, we investigate joint MDO and route selection for an individual vehicle in a metropolitan scenario. We aim to improve the throughput of the target vehicle while guaranteeing its transportation efficiency requirements in terms of traveling time and distance. To achieve this objective, we first formulate the joint route and access network selection problem as a semi-markov decision process(SMDP). Then we propose an optimal algorithm to calculate its optimal policy. To further reduce the computation complexity, we derive a suboptimal algorithm which reduces the action space. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed optimal algorithm significantly outperforms the existing work in total throughput and the late arrival ***, the heuristic algorithm is able to substantially reduce the computation time with only slight performance degradation.
