Effects of pressure on lattice parameters, electronic, thermodynamic and mechanical properties of the fully ordered Ti_(2)AlNb orthorhombic phase were studied using first-principles calculations based on density functional theory(DFT). The bonding nature for ordering orthorhombic Ti_(2)AlNb was revealed quantitatively through the electronic structure analyzing. The external pressures play limited roles in the elastic anisotropy of the alloy due to the outstanding dynamical and mechanical stabilities under pressure. However, the shear modulus of O phase manifests anisotropic, where {010} shear planes are the easiest planes to cleave among the principal planes under all *** heat capacities, volume expansions and thermal expansion coefficients were calculated using the quasi-harmonic approximation model based on the phonon dispersion curves. Meanwhile, the bulk modulus, Young’s modulus,shear modulus and the hardness are promptly enhanced under pressure. The predicted results give hints to design Ti_(2)AlNb-based alloy as high-pressure applications.

MicroRNAs （miRNAs） were discovered two decades ago, yet there is still a great need for further studies elucidating their genesis and targeting in different phyla. Since experimental discovery and validation of miRNAs is difficult, computational predictions are indispensable and today most computational approaches employ machine learning. Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite residing within the cells of its hosts like human, uses miRNAs for its post-transcriptional gene reg- ulation. It may also regulate its hosts＇ gene expression, which has been shown in brain cancer. Since previous studies have shown that overexpressed miRNAs within the host are causal for disease onset, we hypothesized that T. gondii could export miRNAs into its host cell. We computationally predicted all hairpins from the genome of T. gondii and used mouse and human models to filter possible candidates. These were then further compared to known miRNAs in human and rodents and their expression was examined for T. gondii grown in mouse and human hosts, respectively. We found that among the millions of potential hairpins in T. gondii, only a few thousand pass filtering using a human or mouse model and that even fewer of those are expressed. Since they are expressed and differentially expressed in rodents and human, we suggest that there is a chance that T. gondii may export miRNAs into its hosts for direct regulation.

There is a growing worldwide interest in the potential of using existing buildings to generate their own energy as a way to alleviate problems related to the exhaustion of energy resources,environmental degradation and the constant increase in energy-related *** the distributed electricity generation solutions on the market today,wind energy can be a solution for many existing city buildings ***,the objective of this article is to investigate the economic viability of generating wind energy in a multifamily building located in Southern Brazil,(city of Passo Fundo),seeking to supply the condominium electric energy for the period of one year of consumption with a renewable *** this end,the energy demand of the condominium and the energy generation of the wind turbine were taken into account to calculate the economic viability of the *** results showed a positive NPV(net present value)demonstrating the economic feasibility of carrying out such an *** IRR(internal rate of return)was 15.22%and the return on investment(payback)occurs in 7.88 years.

Suicide Attempts in a General Hospital: A Case-Control

Objective: This study aims is to conduct a comparative analysis of the clinical and sociodemographic profiles of individuals referred to Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (CLP) at a tertiary general hospital, specifically focusing on those seeking assistance due to suicide attempts (TS) versus CLP requests for other reasons (non-TS) between the years 2010 and 2020. Additionally, we aim to assess factors associated with suicide attempts. Method: This retrospective controlled study involves a thorough examination of medical records encompassing 3913 patients who received CLP services at the Hospital de Base (HB) and the Children and Maternity Hospital (HCM) of São José do Rio Preto Medical School Foundation (Funfarme) from June 2010 to June 2020. The patient cohort is categorized into two groups: those with requests for sa (n = 677) and those with requests for other reasons. Results: In the sa group, as opposed to the non sa group, statistically significant differences were observed for gender (predominantly female), employment status (employed), marital status (single), and age (younger). Notably, a higher prevalence of psychiatric antecedents (88.7%, n = 555 vs. 73.6% n = 2018) was found in the sa group, indicating a significant association. The frequency of sa requests remained stable over the years. Among the sa group, mood disorders were the most prevalent (39%, n = 372), followed by disorders related to substance use (21.2%, n = 202), and personality disorders (16%, n = 152). A history of previous suicide attempts emerged as a crucial factor for the recurrence of sa (p-value ≤ 0.001). Exogenous intoxication emerged as the most frequently employed method in attempts (79.6%, n = 539), particularly prevalent among patients diagnosed with mood disorders (41%, n = 314). The management of fertilization in maize plants is a preponderant factor in the search for higher yields and obtaining quality seeds. In this sense, the study of nitrogen (N) management is predominant in improving the efficiency of its application. The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth, partition assimilation and vigor expression of maize seeds submitted at different doses of nitrogen applied at sowing. The treatments were constituted by different doses of nitrogen fertilization at sowing, being: 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the recommended dose for the crop, according to the recommendation of nitrogen fertilization. The plants were collected at regular intervals of 21 days after sowing until the end of the growth cycle. For the analysis of growth and partition of dry matter between the organs, the accumulation of dry matter and leaf area was measured. The experimental design was randomized blocks in a 4 × 7 factorial scheme (four N rates at sowing and seven collection times with three replications). The maize plants under the influence of nitrogen fertilization at sowing presented differential growth and distinct responses in the assimilated partition between their structures, with the intensity dependent on the dose used. Plants grown using 75% of the recommended dose of N at sowing had a higher relative growth rate, with more pronounced effects compared to the other doses. The expression of maize seed vigor increases to an increase of 82.5% N at sowing.

Essential oils are secondary metabolites whose biological properties have been studied with emphasis on antimicrobial activity. Hyptis carpinifolia Benth (Rosmaninho) is used in folk medicine in the fight against colds and rheumatism. The objective of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of the essential oil from H. carpinifolia. The essential oil was extracted by hydrodistillation using a modified Clevenger apparatus. The biological activity was determined using the Agar Cavity Diffusion technique to evaluate the effect of concentrations of 500, 250, 125, 62.5, 31.25, 15.62, 7.81 and 3.9 μg·mL-1 on the bacteria Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, salmonella Choleraesuis, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The fungicidal potential was evaluated by the method of dilution in agar, and the percentage inhibition of mycelial growth of Alternaria alternata, Botrytis cinerea and Fusarium oxysporum was evaluated. The dilutions tested were 1000, 750, 500, 250 and 100 μL·L-1. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of the essential oil for L. monocytogenes, S. aureus and E. coli were 31.25;15.62 and 62.5 μg·mL-1, respectively. The MIC was 500 μg·mL-1 for salmonella Choleraesuis and P. aeruginosa. The percentage inhibitions of mycelial growth of B. cinerea and A. alternate were 67% and 33%, respectively, at the dilution of 750 μL·L-1. The essential oil inhibited about 48% of the mycelial growth of F. oxysporum, at the dilution of 1000 μL·L-1. The essential oil of H. carpinifolia presented biological activity against all the microorganisms evaluated.

This article aims to investigate the potential for energy savings and impact on greenhouse gas(GHG)generation of social housing in southern *** and energy analysis of two architectural projects was carried out,one of them being a social interest housing unit and an optimized version of this unit characterized as Nearly Zero Energy Building(NZEB).At the end of the study,a cost analysis was carried out taking into account the building construction and local electricity generation through the installation of a photovoltaic(PV)*** the methods,software SketchUp Make and EnergyPlus was used for computer simulation,after which the PV power generation system for both buildings was dimensioned using the PvSol ***,the percentage of adaptive comfort of ASHRAE 55 was calculated,as well as financial analysis for the building construction and PV modules *** is concluded that it is possible to reduce energy consumption of this social interest housing by 52%and the heating consumption by 72%with passive strategies and envelope *** in an efficient building results in a 29%increase in building costs and promotes savings of 39.5 tCO_(2)over the life of the *** study demonstrates the importance of making NZEB buildings economically viable.

The COVID-19(Coronavirus Disease 19)pandemic has demonstrated that cities are at the center of major contemporary *** epidemiological crisis has highlighted the importance of the urban environment,challenging public managers on managing *** initiative that aims to assist in this management process is the concept of Smart Cities,which uses ICT(Information and Communication Technology)as tools for transforming urban dynamics,and through urban indicators,measures information about ***,the research aimed to analyze the health indicators of Passo Fundo/RS,seeking to analyze the interrelationship of these indicators with the epidemiological data from *** the methodology,multi-method procedures were applied,using the indicators of the Connected Smart Cities Ranking as reference,as well as a regional selection of medium-sized cities in the southern region of *** results show that the health indices of Passo Fundo are,for the most part,lower than those of the analyzed cities,with the indicator related to Population Coverage of the Family Health team as the main ***,it also presents satisfactory indices as is the case of the indicator of Beds/1,000 *** the epidemiological picture of COVID-19,Passo Fundo had a high lethality rate when compared to the other analyzed cities.

Characterized by high consumption of natural resources and great generation of environmental impacts,civil construction becomes an important ally to the development of strategies for a more sustainable built *** this context,this article aims to evaluate construction systems of social interest housing and point out their participation in relation to total impacts,in addition to indicating the environmental impacts embedded in the construction materials present in these *** this end,a case study was selected to apply Life Cycle Assessment(LCA)methodology and assess impacts of the building materials used in a house of a social housing *** was applied to masonry,roof,coatings and floor *** scope adopted assesses impacts incorporated in construction materials,analyzing the stages of raw material extraction,materials production,transport to construction site,maintenance and materials *** life cycle inventory,Ecoinvent 3.6 database was used and environmental impacts were calculated using CML method with the aid of OpenLCA 1.9 *** general,results showed that the maintenance phase has the greatest environmental impact participation related to analyzed ***,it was possible to conclude that coatings and masonry systems were the ones that most added to total environmental impacts.
