Is Manipulative Therapy Clinically Necessary for Relief of Neck Pain？A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Objective：To summarize and critically assess the efficacy of Eastern and Western manipulative therapies for the treatment of neck pain in adults. Methods：A search of Pub Med/MEDliNE, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Clinical Trials.gov, EMBASE, etc. from their inception date to January 2014 with Chinese, Japanese, and Korean databases. Two reviewers independently selected randomized controlled trials（RCTs） with negative control or blank control, extracted data and assessed methodological quality. Meta-analysis and levels of evidence were performed by Revman5.1 and Grades of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation（GRADE） approach. Results：Nineteen clinical trials with adequate randomization were included in this review, 11 of them had a low risk of bias. The primary outcome for shortterm pain had no significant differences, however, the secondary outcome, only the Numerical Pain Rating Scale（NPRS） score of intermediate-term [n=916, pooled mean differences（MD） =–0.29, P=0.02], the Neck Disability Index（NDI） score of short-term（n=1,145, pooled MD=–2.10, P〈0.01）, and intermediate-term（n=987, pooled MD=–1.45, P=0.01） were significantly reduced with moderate quality evidence. However, it supported the minimally clinically important difference（MCID） of the Visual Analogue Scale and NPRS pain score to be 13 mm, while NDI was 3.5 points. The meta-analysis only suggested a trend in favor of manipulative therapy rather than clinical significance. Conclusions：The results do not support the existing evidences for the clinical value of Eastern or Western manipulative therapy for neck pain of short-term follow-up according to MCIDs. The limitations of our review related to blinding, allocation concealment and small sample size.

以‘黄冠梨’为试验材料,以清水作为对照,采用叶片喷施的方法,研究4种不同植物生长调节剂组合对果实生长和品质的影响。结果表明,4种不同植物生长调节剂组合都能显著提高‘黄冠梨’的单果重,较对照提高36.71%~49.01%。钱江利果灵两个组合能显著提高果型指数,均提高6.45%。钱江凯胜两个处理和钱江利果灵360倍+14-羟芸2500倍液能显著提高可溶性固形物含量0.92%~1.34%。钱江利果灵两个组合和钱江凯胜1250倍+14-羟芸2500倍液能显著提高可滴定酸含量0.03%~0.05%。

Objective Accurate infant brain parcellation is crucial for understanding early brain development;however,it is challenging due to the inherent low tissue contrast,high noise,and severe partial volume effects in infant magnetic resonance images(MRIs).The aim of this study was to develop an end-to-end pipeline that enabled accurate parcellation of infant brain MRIs.Methods We proposed an end-to-end pipeline that employs a two-stage global-to-local approach for accurate parcellation of infant brain MRIs.Specifically,in the global regions of interest(ROIs)localization stage,a combination of transformer and convolution operations was employed to capture both global spatial features and fine texture features,enabling an approximate localization of the ROIs across the whole brain.In the local ROIs refinement stage,leveraging the position priors from the first stage along with the raw MRIs,the boundaries of the ROIs are refined for a more accurate parcellation.Results We utilized the Dice ratio to evaluate the accuracy of parcellation results.Results on 263 subjects from National Database for Autism Research(NDAR),Baby Connectome Project(BCP)and Cross-site datasets demonstrated the better accuracy and robustness of our method than other competing methods.Conclusion Our end-to-end pipeline may be capable of accurately parcellating 6-month-old infant brain MRIs.

Realizing campus sustainability requires the environmental-friendly and economical treatment of tremendous fallen leaves.Producing fallen leaf biochar at a low temperature is a candidate approach.In this study,six common types of fallen leaves on the campus were pyrolyzed at 300℃.The obtained biochars were characterized and the adsorption mechanisms of lead(Pb)by the fallen leaf biochars were investigated.The adsorption capacity of leaf biochar for Pb was relatively high,up to 209 mg/g(Yulania denudata leaf biochar).Adsorption of Pb onto active sites was the rate-limiting step for most leaf biochars.But for Platanus leaf biochar,intraparticle diffusion of Pb^(2+)dominated owing to the lowest adsorption capacity.However,the highest exchangeable Pb fraction(27%)indicated its potential for removing aqueous Pb^(2+).Ginkgo and Prunus cerasifera leaf biochar immobilized Pb by surface complexation and precipitation as lead oxalate.Hence,they were suitable for soil heavy metal remediation.This study shed the light on the sustainable utilization of campus fallen leaves and the application of fallen leaf biochars in heavy metal remediation.

Objective:To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of Qishe Pill(芪麝丸)on neck pain in realworld clinical practice.Methods:A multi-center,prospective,observational surveillance in 8 hospitals across Shanghai was conducted.During patients receiving 4-week Qishe Pill medication,Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)and Neck Disability Index(NDI)assessments have been used to assess their pain and function,while safety monitoring have been observed after 2 and 4 weeks.Results:Results from 2,023 patients(mean age 54.5 years)suggest that the drug exposure per unit of body mass was estimated at 3.41±0.62 g/kg.About 8.5%(172/2,023)of all participants experienced adverse events(AEs),while 3.8%(78/2,023)of all participants experienced adverse reaction.The most common AEs were gastrointestinal events and respiratory events.The VAS score(pain)and NDI score(function)significantly decreased after 4-week treatment.An effect-quantitative analysis was also conducted to show that the normal clinical dosage may be consider as 3–4 g/kg,at which dosage the satisfactory pain-relief effect may achieve by 40-mm reduction in VAS.Conclusion:These findings showed that patients with cervical radiculopathy who received Qishe Pill experienced significant improvement on pain and function.(Registration No.NCT01875562).

The practical application of aqueous zinc-ion batteries for large-grid scale systems is still hindered by uncontrolled zinc dendrite and side reactions.Regulating the elec-trical double layer via the electrode/electrolyte interface layer is an effective strategy to improve the stability of Zn anodes.Herein,we report an ultrathin zincophilic ZnS layer as a model regu-lator.At a given cycling current,the cell with Zn@ZnS electrode displays a lower potential drop over the Helmholtz layer(stern layer)and a suppressed diffuse layer,indicating the regulated charge distribution and decreased electric double layer repulsion force.Boosted zinc adsorption sites are also expected as proved by the enhanced electric double-layer capacitance.Consequently,the symmetric cell with the ZnS protection layer can stably cycle for around 3,000 h at 1 mA cm^(-2) with a lower overpotential of 25 mV.When coupled with an I2/AC cathode,the cell demonstrates a high rate performance of 160 mAh g^(-1) at 0.1 A g^(-1) and long cycling stability of over 10,000 cycles at 10 A g^(-1).The Zn||MnO_(2) also sustains both high capacity and long cycling stability of 130 mAh g^(-1) after 1,200 cycles at 0.5 A g^(-1).

We report the unprecedent Pd(I)catalyzed ring-opening arylation of cyclopropyl-α-aminoamides.This protocol allows facile access to biologically important α-ketoamide-containing oligopeptides and even more challenging peptide-natural product conjugates.Site selectivity was achieved by introduction of special unnatural amino acids,which also meets the requisite of bioorthogonal chemistry.Mechanism investigations reveals a distinct domino radical ring-opening process through Pd(I)catalysis.

Apatite Fission Track Thermochronology of Granite from the Xiazhuang Uranium Ore Field,South China:Implications for Exhumation History and Ore Preservation

Xiazhuang uranium ore field,located in the southern part of the Nanling Metallogenic Belt,is considered one of the largest granite-related U regions in South China.In this paper,we contribute new apatite fission track data and thermal history modeling to constrain the exhumation history and evaluate preservation potential of the Xiazhuang Uranium ore field.Nine Triassic outcrop granite samples collected from different locations of Xiazhuang Uranium ore field yield AFT ages ranging from 43 to 24 Ma with similar mean confined fission track lengths ranging from 11.8±2.0 to 12.9±1.9μm and Dpar values between 1.01 and 1.51μm.The robustness time-temperature reconstructions of samples from the hanging wall of Huangpi fault show that the Xiazhuang Uranium ore field experienced a time of monotonous and slow cooling starting from middle Paleocene to middle Miocene(~60-10 Ma),followed by relatively rapid exhumation in the late Miocene(~10-5 Ma)and nearly thermal stability in the Pliocene-Quaternary(~5-0 Ma).The amount of exhumation after U mineralization since the Middle Paleogene was estimated as~4.3±1.8 km according to the integrated thermal history model.Previous studies indicate that the ore-forming ages of U deposits in the Xiazhuang ore field are mainly before Middle Paleocene and the mineralization depths are more than 4.4±1.2 km.Therefore,the exhumation history since middle Paleocene plays important roles in the preservation of the Xiazhuang Uranium ore field.
