Insufficient sleep can produce a multitude of deleterious repercussions on various domains of human ***,the walnut(Juglans mandshurica)confers numerous salutary biological activities pertaining to ***,the sedative and hypnotic capacities of walnut's functional constituents remain *** this investigation,we analyzed the sedative and hypnotic components of the walnut Diaphragma juglandis fructus and innovatively discovered a compound,defined as 3-hydroxy-4-iminobutyric acid(HIBA),which disrupts motor activity and enhances sleep duration by regulating the neurotransmitters(GABA,DA,etc.)within the brain and serum of ***,a metabolomics approach of the serum,basal ganglia,hypothalamus,and hippocampus as well as the gut microbiota was undertaken to unravel the underlying molecular mechanisms of sleep *** data reveal that HIBA can regulate the metabolism of basal ganglia(sphingolipids,acylcarnitines,etc.),possibly in relation to HIBA's influence on the gut microbiome(Muribaculum,Bacteroides,Lactobacillus,etc.).Therefore,we introduce a novel natural product,HIBA,and explicate the modulation of sleep promotion in mice based on the microbiota-gut-brain *** study contributes fresh insights toward natural product-based sleep research.

Dietary fat supplementation relieves cold temperature-induced energy stress through AMPK-mediated mitochondrial homeostasis in pigs

Background Cold stress has negative effects on the growth and health of mammals, and has become a factor restricting livestock development at high latitudes and on plateaus. The gut-liver axis is central to energy metabolism, and the mechanisms by which it regulates host energy metabolism at cold temperatures have rarely been illustrated. In this study, we evaluated the status of glycolipid metabolism and oxidative stress in pigs based on the gut-liver axis and propose that AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK) is a key target for alleviating energy stress at cold temperatures by dietary fat *** Dietary fat supplementation alleviated the negative effects of cold temperatures on growth performance and digestive enzymes, while hormonal homeostasis was also restored. Moreover, cold temperature exposure increased glucose transport in the jejunum. In contrast, we observed abnormalities in lipid metabolism, which was characterized by the accumulation of bile acids in the ileum and plasma. In addition, the results of the ileal metabolomic analysis were consistent with the energy metabolism measurements in the jejunum, and dietary fat supplementation increased the activity of the mitochondrial respiratory chain and lipid metabolism. As the central nexus of energy metabolism, the state of glycolipid metabolism and oxidative stress in the liver are inconsistent with that in the small intestine. Specifically, we found that cold temperature exposure increased glucose transport in the liver, which fully validates the idea that hormones can act on the liver to regulate glucose output. Additionally, dietary fat supplementation inhibited glucose transport and glycolysis, but increased gluconeogenesis, bile acid cycling, and lipid metabolism. Acute effect of foot strike patterns on in vivo tibiotalar and subtalar joint kinematics during barefoot running

Background:Foot kinematics,such as excessive eversion and malalignment of the hindfoot,are believed to be associated with running-related *** maj ority of studies to date show that different foot strike patterns influence these specific foot and ankle ***,technical deficiencies in traditional motion capture approaches limit knowledge of in vivo joint kinematics with respect to rearfoot and forefoot strike patterns(RFS and FFS,respectively).This study uses a high-speed dual fluoroscopic imaging system(DFIS)to determine the effects of different foot strike patterns on 3D in vivo tibiotalar and subtalar joints ***:Fifteen healthy male recreational runners underwent foot computed tomography scanning for the construction of 3-dimensional models.A high-speed DFIS(100 Hz)was used to collect 6 degrees of freedom kinematics for participants’tibiotalar and subtalar joints when they adopted RFS and FFS in barefoot ***:Compared with RFS,FFS exhibited greater internal rotation at 0%-20%of the stance phase in the tibiotalar *** peak internal rotation angle of the tibiotalar joint under FFS was greater than under RFS(plexion at 0%-20%of the stance phase in the tibiotalar joint than *** also presented a larger anterior translation(p<0.001,Cohen’s d=1.28)in the subtalar joint at i nitial contact than ***:Running with acute barefoot FFS increases the internal rotation of the tibiotalar joint in the early *** use of high-speed DFIS to quantify the movement of the tibiotalar and subtalar joint was critical to revealing the effects of RF S and FFS during running.

Characteristics and quality of clinical practice guidelines for diabetic kidney disease: a systematic review

OBJECTIVE: To assess the quality of Clinical practice guidelines(CPGs) in the context of diabetic kidney disease(DKD) and determine whether any factors affect the quality. METHODS: We searched eight databases along with five international and national organizations to develop or archive guidelines from their inception to July 2023, with an additional search of ***. And the authoritative organizations related to nephrology. CPGs and consensus statements created using direct differential diagnosis or therapy for DKD were included without language restrictions. Their quality was evaluated by four reviewers using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation Ⅱ(AGREE Ⅱ) instrument. Along with the item and domain scores, the guideline was also allocated an overall quality score, which ranged from 1(lowest possible quality) to 7(highest possible quality). Moreover, an overall recommendation for use was also assigned(“recommended”, “recommended with modifications” or “not recommended”). RESULTS: A total of 16 CPGs were included, of which 14 were from Asia and the remaining two from Europe. These two CPGs were updated in the third version. Six CPGs were recommended for use because their primary domains scored in the medium or high category. Furthermore, five CPGs were recommended with modifications as the stakeholder involvement, applicability, and editorial independence domains were evaluated as low categories. In all domains, the lowest average score was for rigour of development(33%), followed by application(36%), and stakeholder involvement(51%). The highest average score was for scope and purpose(79%), followed by clarity of presentation(75%). None of the CPGs considered the patient's viewpoint, and six of 16 CPGs did not use any grading system to translate the evidence into recommendations. Additionally, only three of 16 CPGs shared search strategy, and eight of 16 CPGs did not declare a funding source. CONCLUSIONS: According to the AGREE II evaluation

V-MOF-derived V_(2)O_(5) nanoparticles-modified carbon fiber cloth-based dendrite-free anode for high-performance lithium metal batteries

At present,commercial Li-ion batteries are hardly to satisfy the growing demand for high energy density,for this purpose,lithium metal batteries have attracted worldwide attention in recent ***,its practical applications are hindered by the formation of Li dendrites and volume effect during Li plating/stripping process,which leads to a lot of safety ***,we first employed MOF-derived V_(2)O_(5) nanoparticles to decorate the carbon fiber cloth(CFC)backbone to acquire a lithiophilic 3D porous conductive framework(CFC@V_(2)O_(5)).Subsequently,the CFC@V_(2)O_(5) skeleton was permeated with molten Li to prepare CFC@V_(2)O_(5)@Li composite *** CFC@V_(2)O_(5)@Li composite anode can be stably cycled for more than 1650 h at high current density(5 mA·cm^(-2))and areal capacity(5 mA·h·cm^(–2)).The prepared full cell can initially maintain a high capacity of about 143 mA·h·g^(-1) even at a high current density of 5 C,and can still maintain 114 mA·h·g^(-1) after 1000 cycles.

Hydrometallurgical recovery of lithium carbonate and iron phosphate from blended cathode materials of spent lithium-ion battery

The recycling of cathode materials from spent lithium-ion battery has attracted extensive attention,but few research have focused on spent blended cathode *** reality,the blended materials of lithium iron phosphate and ternary are widely used in electric vehicles,so it is critical to design an effective recycling *** this study,an efficient method for recovering Li and Fe from the blended cathode materials of spent LiFePO_(4)and LiNi_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(1-x-y)O_(2)batteries is ***,87%A1 was removed by alkali ***,91.65%Li,72.08%Ni,64.6%Co and 71.66%Mn were further separated by selective leaching with H_(2)SO_(4)and H_(2)O_(2).Li,Ni,Co and Mn in solution were recovered in the form of Li_(2)CO_(3)and hydroxide ***,98.38%Fe was leached from the residue by two stage process,and it is recovered as FePO_(4)·2H_(2)O with a purity of 99.5%by *** and P were present in FePO_(4)·2H_(2)O in amounts of 28.34%and 15.98%,***,the drift and control of various components were discussed,and cost-benefit analysis was used to assess the feasibility of potential application.

Controllable synthesis of one-dimensional silicon nanostructures based on the dual effects of electro-deoxidation and the Kirkendall effect

In this study,we successfully synthesized silicon nanotubes(Si-NTs)and silicon nanowires(Si-NWs)in a controllable manner using a catalyst-and template-free method through the direct electrolysis of SiO_(2)in a molten CaCl_(2)-CaO system,while also proposing a novel formation mechanism for ***-NWs are formed through electro-deoxidation when the cell voltage is within the range of CaO decomposition voltage and SiO_(2)decomposition *** subsequently adjusting the voltage to a value between the decomposition potentials of CaCl_(2)and CaO,in-situ electro-deoxidation of CaO takes place on the surface of the synthesized Si-NWs,leading to the formation of a Ca *** formation of Ca-Si diffusion couple leads to the creation of vacancies within the Si-NWs,as the outward diffusion rate of Si exceeds the inward diffusion rate of *** differential diffusion rates between Si and Ca in a diffusion couple exhibit an analogy to the Kirkendall *** vacancies gradually accumulate and merge,forming large voids,which ultimately result in the formation of hollow *** a subsequent dealloying process,the removal of the embedded calcium leads to the formation of *** the application of a carbon coating,the Si-NTs@C composite showcases a high initial discharge capacity of 3211 mAh·g^(-1)at 1.5 A·g^(-1)and exhibits exceptional long-term cycling stability,maintaining a capacity of 977 mAh·g^(-1)after 2000 cycles at 3.0 A·g^(-1).

GJB2 gene mutations are the most common causes of autosomal recessive non-syndromic hereditary *** individuals suffering from severe to profound GJB2-related deafness,cochlear implants have emerged as the sole remedy for auditory *** previous studies have highlighted the crucial role of preserving cochlear neural components in achieving favorable outcomes after cochlear ***,we generated a conditional knockout mouse model(Cx26-CKO)in which Cx26 was completely deleted in the cochlear supporting cells driven by the Sox2 *** Cx26-CKO mice showed severe hearing loss and massive loss of hair cells and Deiter’s cells,which represented the extreme form of human deafness caused by GJB2 gene *** addition,multiple pathological changes in the peripheral auditory nervous system were found,including abnormal innervation,demyelination,and degeneration of spiral ganglion neurons as well as disruption of heminodes in Cx26-CKO *** findings provide invaluable insights into the deafness mechanism and the treatment for severe deafness in Cx26-null mice.

Computational fluid dynamics simulation and experimental study on mixing performance of a three-dimensional circular cyclone-type microreactor

Microchannels enable the fast and efficient mixing of multiphase *** this study, a millimeter-scale three-dimensional(3D) circular cyclone-type microreactor was designed for the *** flow characteristics and mixing intensity were simulated by computational fluid dynamics simulations at a flow rate range of 12–96 m L/min using a water/ethyl acetate *** the 3D variable-diameter structure,the microreactor induced paired opposite vortices and abruptly changed the local pressure to achieve a stable turbulent effect within the theoretical range of laminar *** injection simulations indicated that sufficient mixing units successfully promote fluid ***-coupling experiments showed a segregation index of X_S= 0.00,039 within a residence time of 9 *** experiments on the nbutanol/succinic acid/water system showed that the 3D circular cyclone-type microreactor achieved 100%extraction efficiency(E) in 4.25 s, and the overall volume mass transfer coefficient(K_La) reached 0.05–1.5s^(-1) in 12–96 m L/*** isolated yield of the phase transfer alkylation and oxidation reactions in the 3D circular cyclone-type microreactor achieved 99% within 36 s, which was superior to the coil microreactor and batch reactor.

Double casing warhead with sandwiched charge:The axial distribution of fragments velocities

The double casing warhead with sandwiched charge is a novel fragmentation warhead that can produce two groups of fragments with different velocity,and the previous work has presented a calculation formula to determine the maximum fragment *** current work builds on the published formula to further develop a formula for calculating the axial distribution characteristics of the fragment *** this type of warhead,the simulation of the dispersion characteristics of the detonation products at different positions shows that the detonation products at the ends have a much larger axial velocity than those in the middle,and the detonation products have a greater axial dispersion velocity when they are closer to the central *** loading process and the fragment velocity vary with the axial position for both casing layers,and the total velocity of the fragments is the vector sum of the radial velocity and the axial *** the same axial position,the acceleration time of the inner casing is greater than that of the outer *** the same casing,the fragments generated at the ends have a longer acceleration time than the fragments from the *** proposed formula is validated with the X-ray radiography results of the four warheads previously tested experimentally and the 3D smoothedparticle hydrodynamics numerical simulation results of several series of new warheads with different *** formula can accurately and reliably calculate the fragment velocity when the lengthto-diameter ratio of the charge is greater than 1.5 and the thickness of the casing is less than 20%its inner *** work thus provides a key reference for the theoretical analysis and the design of warheads with multiple casings.
