Based on measurements at the Beijing 325-m Meteorological Tower,this study reports an analysis of atmospheric stability conditions and turbulent exchange during consecutive episodes of particle air pollution in Beijing(China),primarily due to haze and dust events(15–30 April 2012).Of particular interest were relevant vertical variations within the lower urban boundary layer(UBL).First,the haze and dust events were characterized by different atmospheric conditions,as quite low wind speed and high humidity are typically observed during haze *** addition,for the description of stability conditions,the bulk Richardson number(RiB) was calculated for three different height intervals: 8–47,47–140,and 140–280 *** values of RiB indicated an apparent increase in the occurrence frequency of stably-stratified air layers in the upper height interval—for the 140–280-m height interval,positive values of RiB occurred for about 85% of the *** downward turbulent exchange of sensible heat was observed at 280 m for the full diurnal cycle,which,by contrast,was rarely seen at 140 m during *** results reinforce the importance of implementing high-resolution UBL profile observations and addressing issues related to stably-stratified flows.

Beijing experienced a long-lasting pollution episode in April 2012. Here, the authors characterize the sources and evolution processes of the pollution, with a focus on a haze and a dust episode that occurred during 15-30 April. All submicron aerosol species （PM1） showed substantial increases during the haze episode （HE）, with nitrate being the largest, contributing on average 32.2% of the non-refractory PM;（NR-PM1） mass （maximum： -42.0%）, which was different from other seasons. Secondary inorganic aerosol （SIA） species （55.1 ± 23.8 lag m-3; SIA = nitrate, ammonium, sulfate） played enhanced roles in the haze formation, accounting for 66.5% of the total NR-PM1 mass. In contrast to the HE, organics exhibited their highest levels （8.9 ± 5.4 lag m-3） among the NR-PM aerosol species during the dust episode, accounting for 64.0% on average. SIAs exhibited low concentration levels （4.6 ± 4.2 μg m-3） during the dust episode, contributing only 34.0% to the total NR-PM1 mass. This study suggests that air quality improvement strategies should be designed according to aerosol particle characteristics and formation mechanisms.

A field experiment of nocturnal mountain wind and corresponding particulate matter （PM） evolution under weak synoptic forcing at five sites within urban Beijing was conducted using a moving Doppler wind lidar and a fixed tower. Clear wind shear and zero-horizontal-wind zones at 40-320 m above the ground with a delay of 1.5 h were found at two sites between 20 km from north to south urban Beijing. The wind speed and height of the low-level jet at the north urban Beijing site were greater than those at the east urban Beijing site. The average horizontal distribution of low-level PM at 240 m was similar to the ground-level PM at night. The PM2.s （aerodynamic diameter ≤2.5 μm） accumulation center showed no abrupt changes with a shift in wind direction until the northerly wind jet arrived.

霾的形成发展与细颗粒物化学组分变化紧密相关.本文利用颗粒物化学组分监测仪(ACSM)、黑碳仪等对河北香河夏季亚微米气溶胶(PM1)化学组分、来源及其演变规律进行详细分析.结果表明,PM1平均占到PM2.5的约71%,PM1主要分布在20~80μg·m-3间;观测期间有显著的秸秆燃烧事件,秸秆燃烧时段PM1质量浓度显著升高,其中有机物质量分数迅速升高,平均约占到47%;秸秆燃烧使得大气气溶胶由弱碱性转变为弱酸性;整个观测期间,正交矩阵因子分解法(PMF)共识别出4类有机气溶胶,分别为两种一次有机气溶胶(类烃类有机气溶胶和生物质燃烧有机气溶胶)和两种二次有机气溶胶(低挥发、高氧化性的有机气溶胶和低氧化、半挥发性的有机气溶胶),有机气溶胶氧化程度较高.其中二次有机气溶胶的贡献远大于一次有机气溶胶,平均占到有机物的~69%,而去除秸秆燃烧时段后PMF结果中未解析出生物质燃烧有机气溶胶.

New formula for predicting the plastic buckling pressure of steel torispherical heads under internal pressure

Thin-walled torispherical heads under internal pressure can fail by plastic buckling because of compressive circumferential stresses in the head ***,existing formulas still have limitations,such as complicated expressions and low accuracy,in determining buckling *** this paper,we propose a new formula for calculating the buckling pressure of torispherical heads based on elastic-plastic analysis and experimental ***,a finite element(FE)method based on the arc-length method is established to calculate the plastic buckling pressure of torispherical heads,considering the effects of material strain hardening and geometrical *** buckling pressure results calculated by the FE method in this paper have good consistency with those of BOSOR5,which is a program for calculating the elastic-plastic bifurcation buckling pressure based on the finite difference energy ***,the effects of geometric parameters,material parameters,and restraint form of head edge on buckling pressure are ***,a new formula for calculating plastic buckling pressure is developed by fitting the curve of FE results and introducing a reduction factor determined from experimental ***,based on the experimental results,we compare the predictions of the new formula with those of existing *** is shown that the new formula has a higher accuracy than the existing ones.

Classifying network time series(NTS) is crucial for automating network administration and ensuring cyberspace security. It enables the detection of anomalies, the identification of network attacks,and the monitoring of performance issues, thereby providing valuable support for network protection and optimization. However, modern communication networks pose challenges for NTS classification *** include handling large-scale and complex NTS data, extracting features from intricate datasets, and addressing explainability requirements. These challenges are particularly pronounced for complex 5G networks. Notably, explainability has become crucial for the widespread deployment of network automation for 5G networks and beyond. To tackle these challenges, we propose a path-signature-based NTS classification model called recurrent signature(Recur Sig). This innovative model is designed to overcome the time-consuming feature selection problem by utilizing deep-learning(DL) techniques. Additionally, it provides a solution for addressing the black-box issue associated with DL models in network automation systems(NAS) by incorporating an explainable classification approach. Extensive experimentation on various public datasets demonstrates that Recur Sig outperforms existing models in accuracy and explainability. The results indicate its potential for application in cyberspace security and automated network management, offering an explainable solution for network protection and optimization.

Photocatalytic reduction of CO_(2)into fuels provides a prospective tactic for regulating the global carbon balance utilizing renewable solar ***,CO_(2)molecules are difficult to activate and reduce due to the thermodynamic stability and chemical *** this work,we develop a novel strategy to promote the adsorption and activation of CO_(2)molecules via the rapid energy exchange between the photoinduced Br vacancies and CO_(2)*** in situ continuous wave-electron paramagnetic resonance(cw-EPR)and pulsed EPR technologies,we observe that the spin-spin relaxation time(T_(2))of BiOBr is decreased by 198 ns during the CO_(2)photoreduction reaction,which is further confirmed by the broadened EPR *** result reveals that there is an energy exchange interaction between in situ formed Br vacancies and CO_(2)molecules,which promotes the formation of high-energy CO_(2)molecules to facilitate the subsequent reduction *** addition,theoretical calculations indicate that the bended CO_(2)adsorption configuration on the surface of BiOBr with Br vacancies caused the decrease of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital of the CO_(2)molecule,which makes it easier for CO_(2)molecules to acquire electrons and get *** situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy further shows that the activated CO_(2)molecules are favorably converted to key intermediates of COOH*,resulting in a CO generation rate of 9.1μmol g^(-1)h^(-1)and a selectivity of 100%.This study elucidates the underlying mechanism of CO_(2)activation at active sites and deepens the understanding of CO_(2)photoreduction reaction.

Tribological applications of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)are often limited by technological complexity to overcome its poor wear ***,a PTFE/polyetheretherketone(PEEK)heterolayer(HL)was proposed and evaluated as a new solid lubrication ***-on-disk tribometry found the lowest friction coefficient(μ)of 0.031 and ultralow wear for the PEEK/HL under typical *** friction coefficient of the HL surpasses those of the state-of-the-art polymeric coatings/composites by at least 200%,and approaches that of highly lubricated *** investigations revealed multi-length physical and chemical heterogeneity of the HL that best facilitates a tribofilm with high subsurface stability and surface *** technological simplicity and robustness of the HL’s high lubricity make it a promising new type of solid lubrication toward greater reliability and longevity.

During the supersonic re-entry of multi-nozzle heavy rockets into the atmosphere,the basic flow state becomes increasingly complex due to the coupling effect between the retropropulsion plumes and the freestream.A numerical method using the hybrid Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes and Large Eddy Simulation(RES)method and discrete coordinate method is developed to accurately estimate the thermal *** addition,finite rate chemical kinetics is used to calculate the afterburning *** numerical results agree well with wind tunnel data,which confirms the validity and accuracy of the numerical *** are conducted for the heavy carrier rocket re-entry from 53.1 km to 39.5 km altitude with 180°angle of attack by using three different Supersonic Retro-Propulsion(SRP)*** numerical results reveal that these three SRP flow fields are all Short Penetration Models(SPM).As the re-entry altitudes decrease,both the plume-plume interaction and the plume-freestream interaction become *** highest temperatures in the plume shear layers of the three SRP modes increase by 8.36%,7.33%and 6.92%respectively after considering afterburning reactions,and all occur at a reentry altitude of 39.5 *** the rocket re-enters the atmosphere,the maximum heat flux on the rocket base plate of three SRP modes stabilizes at 290,170 and 200 kW/m^(2) respectively,but the maximum heat flux on the side wall increases *** the altitude declines to 39.5 km,the extreme heat flux of the three modes increase by 84.16%,49.45%and 62.97%respectively compared to that at 53.1 km.
