AIM: To determine the risk factors for gallstone-related biliary ***: This retrospective cohort study evaluated magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography imagesfrom 141 symptomatic and 39 asymptomatic gallstone patients who presented at a single tertiary hospital between January 2005 and December ***: Logistic regression analysis showed significant differences between symptomatic and asymptomatic patients with gallstones in relation to the number of gallstones,the angle between the long axis of the gallbladder and the cystic duct,and the cystic duct *** analysis showed that the number of gallstones(OR = 1.27,95%CI: 1.03-1.57; P = 0.026),the angle between the long axis of the gallbladder and the cystic duct(OR = 1.02,95%CI: 1.00-1.03; P = 0.015),and the diameter of the cystic duct(OR = 0.819,95%CI: 0.69-0.97; P = 0.018) were significantly associated with biliary *** incidence of biliary events was significantly elevated in patients who had the presence of more than two gallstones,an angle of > 92° between the gallbladder and the cystic duct,and a cystic duct diameter < 6 ***: These findings will help guide the treatment of patients with asymptomatic *** should closely monitor patients with asymptomatic gallstones who exhibit these characteristics.

A multiphase computational fluid dynamics(CFD)model coupled with the population balance equation(PBE)was developed in a homogeneous air-kerosene bubble column under elevated pressure(P).The specific pressure drop(ΔP/L),gas holdup(α_(G)),and Sauter mean diameter(d_(32))were experimentally measured in the bubble column with 1.8 m height and 0.1 m inner diameter,which was operated at a superficial gas velocity of 12.3 mm·s^(-1),and P=1-35 bar(1 bar=10^(5) Pa).A modified drag coefficient model was proposed to consider the effect of bubble swarm and pressure on hydrodynamics of the bubble *** Luo breakage model was modified to account for liquid density,viscosity,surface tension and gas ***ΔP/L,α_(G),and d_(32) obtained from the CFD model were compared with experimental data,and the gas density-dependent parameters of the CFD model were *** increasing P from 1 to 35 bar,theα_(G) varied from 5.4%to 7.2% and the d32 decreased from 2.3 to 1.5 *** CFD-PBE model is applicable to predict hydrodynamics of pressurized bubble columns for gas-organic liquid in the homogeneous regime.

Automatic Discontinuity Classification of Wind-turbine Blades Using A-scan-based Convolutional Neural Network

Recent development trends in wind power generation have increased the importance of the safe operation of wind-turbine blades(WTBs). To realize this objective, it is essential to inspect WTBs for any defects before they are placed into operation. However, conventional methods of fault inspection in WTBs can be rather difficult to implement, since complex curvatures that characterize the WTB structures must ensure accurate and reliable inspection. Moreover, it is considered useful if inspection results can be objectively and consistently classified and analyzed by an automated system and not by the subjective judgment of an inspector. To address this concern,the construction of a pressure-and shape-adaptive phased-array ultrasonic testing platform, which is controlled by a nanoengine operation system to inspect WTBs for internal defects, has been presented in this paper. An automatic classifier has been designed to detect discontinuities in WTBs by using an A-scanimaging-based convolutional neural network(CNN). The proposed CNN classifier design demonstrates a classification accuracy of nearly 99%. Results of the study demonstrate that the proposed CNN classifier is capable of automatically classifying the discontinuities of WTB with high accuracy, all of which could be considered as defect candidates.

Background: Acquisition of pluripotency by transcriptional regulatory factors is an initial developmental event that is required for regulation of cell fate and lineage specification during early embryonic development. The evolutionarily conserved core transcriptional factors regulating the pluripotency network in fishes, amphibians, and mammals have been elucidated. There are also species-specific maternally inherited transcriptional factors and their intricate transcriptional networks important in the acquisition of pluripotency. In avian species, however, the core transcriptional network that governs the acquisition of pluripotency during early embryonic development is not well ***: We found that chicken NANOG(c NANOG) was expressed in the stages between the pre-ovulatory follicle and oocyte and was continuously detected in Eyal-Giladi and Kochav stage I(EGK.I) to X. However, c POUV was not expressed during fol iculogenesis, but began to be detectable between EGK.V and VI. Unexpectedly, c SOX2 could not be detected during fol iculogenesis and intrauterine embryonic development. Instead of c SOX2, c SOX3 was maternally inherited and continuously expressed during chicken intrauterine development. In addition, we found that the pluripotency-related genes such as c ENS-1, c KIT, c LIN28 A, c MYC, c PRDM14, and c SALL4 began to be dramatical y upregulated between *** and ***: These results suggest that chickens have a unique pluripotent circuitry since maternally inherited c NANOG and c SOX3 may play an important role in the initial acquisition of pluripotency. Moreover, the acquisition of pluripotency in chicken embryos occurs at around *** to VI I.

Gastric cancer is the second leading cause of cancerrelated deaths *** cytotoxic chemotherapy has limited efficacy for metastatic gastric cancer,with an overall survival of approximately ten *** advances in high-throughput technologies have enabled the implementation of personalized cancer therapy for high-risk *** use of such high-throughput technologies,including microarray and next generation sequencing,have promoted the discovery of novel targets that offer new treatment strategies for patients lacking other therapeutic *** molecular pathways are currently under investigation as therapeutic targets in gastric cancer,including those related to the epidermal growth factor receptor family,the mesenchymal-epithelial transition factor axis,and the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-AKTmammalian target of rapamycin *** in molecular diagnostic tools further support the discovery of new molecular *** exist,however;not all patients can be tested for biomarkers,and numerous challenges hamper implementation of targeted therapy in clinical ***,the scale of tumor genomic profiling is rapidly outpacing our ability to appropriately synthesize all the information in order to optimally refine patient ***,clinicians must continue to educate themselves regarding new tools and frameworks,and to utilize multidisciplinary team science,comprised of oncologists,geneticists,pathologists,biologists and bioinformaticians,to successfully implement this genomic approach therapeutically.
