Polaron interfacial entropy as a route to high thermoelectric performance in daE-doped PEDOT:PSS films

Enhancing the thermoelectric transport properties of conductive polymer materials has been a long-term challenge, in spite of the success seen with molecular doping strategies. However, the strong coupling between the thermopower and the electrical conductivity limits thermoelectric performance. Here, we use polaron interfacial occupied entropy engineering to break through this intercoupling for a PEDOT:PSS(poly（3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene）-poly（4-styrenesulfonate）) thin film by using photochromic diarylethene（daE） dopants coupled with UV-light modulation. With a 10-fold enhancement of the thermopower from 13.5 μV K-1to 135.4 μV K-1and almost unchanged electrical conductivity, the daE-doped PEDOT:PSS thin film achieved an extremely high power factor of 521.28 μW m-1K-2from an original value of 6.78 μW m-1K-2. The thermopower was positively correlated with the UV-light intensity but decreased with increasing temperature, indicating resonant coupling between the planar closed daE molecule and PEDOT. Both the experiments and theoretical calculations consistently confirmed the formation of an interface state due to this resonant coupling. Interfacial entropy engineering of polarons could play a critical role in enhancing the thermoelectric performance of the organic film.

Obesity and related metabolic syndromes have been recognized as important disease risks,in which the role of adipokines cannot be ***(ADP)is one of the key adipokines with various beneficial effects,including improving glucose and lipid metabolism,enhancing insulin sensitivity,reducing oxidative stress and inflammation,promoting ceramides degradation,and stimulating adipose tissue *** on those,it can serve as a positive regulator in many metabolic syndromes,such as type 2 diabetes(T2D),cardiovascular diseases,non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),sarcopenia,neurodegenerative diseases,and certain ***,a promising therapeutic approach for treating various metabolic diseases may involve elevating ADP levels or activating ADP *** modulation of ADP genes,multimerization,and secretion covers the main processes of ADP generation,providing a comprehensive orientation for the development of more appropriate therapeutic *** order to have a deeper understanding of ADP,this paper will provide an all-encompassing review of ADP.

Monolithic textured perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells(TSCs)are expected to achieve maximum light capture at the lowest cost,potentially exhibiting the best power conversion ***,it is challenging to fabricate high-quality perovskite films and preferred crystal orientation on commercially textured silicon substrates with micrometersize ***,we introduced a bulky organic molecule(4-fluorobenzylamine hydroiodide(F-PMAI))as a perovskite *** is found that F-PMAI can retard the crystallization process of perovskite film through hydrogen bond interaction between F^(−)and FA^(+)and reduce(111)facet surface energy due to enhanced adsorption energy of F-PMAI on the(111)***,the bulky molecular is extruded to the bottom and top of perovskite film after crystal growth,which can passivate interface defects through strong interaction between F-PMA+and undercoordinated Pb^(2+)/I^(−).As a result,the additive facilitates the formation of large perovskite grains and(111)preferred orientation with a reduced trap-state density,thereby promoting charge carrier transportation,and enhancing device performance and *** perovskite/silicon TSCs achieved a champion efficiency of 30.05%based on a silicon thin film tunneling *** addition,the devices exhibit excellent longterm thermal and light stability without *** work provides an effective strategy for achieving efficient and stable TSCs.

The development of highly efficient sodium-ion batteries depends critically on the successful exploitation of advanced anode hosts that is capable of overcoming sluggish reaction kinetics while also withstanding severe structural deformation triggered by the large radius of Na^(+)-***,a hierarchically hybrid material with hetero-Co_(3)S_(4)/NiS hollow nanosphere packaged into a densified N-doped carbonmatrix(Co_(3)S_(4)/NiS@N-C)was designed and fabricated utilizing CoNi-glycerate as the self-sacrifice template,making the utmost of the synergistic effect of hetero-Co_(3)S_(4)/NiS with strong electric field and rich reaction active-sites together with the densified outer-carbon scaffolds with remarkable electronic conductivity and robust mechanical *** anticipated,as-fabricated Co_(3)S_(4)/NiS@N-C anode affords remarkable specific capacity,prolonged cycle lifespan up to 2400 cycles with an only 0.05%fading each cycle at 20.0 A g^(−1),and excellent rate feature(354.9 mAh g^(−1)at 30.0 A g^(−1)),one of the best performances for most existing Co_(3)S_(4)/NiS-based *** situ structural characterizations in tandem with theoretical analysis demonstrate the reversible insertion-conversion mechanism of initially proceeding with Na^(+)de-/intercalation and superior heterogeneous interfacial reaction behavior with strong Na^(+)-adsorption ***,sodium-ion full cell and hybrid capacitor based on Co_(3)S_(4)/NiS@N-C anode exhibit impressive electrochemical characteristics on cycling performance and rate capability,showcasing its outstanding feasibility toward practical use.

β-Receptor blocker enhances the anabolic effect of PTH after osteoporotic fracture

The autonomic nervous system plays a crucial role in regulating bone metabolism,with sympathetic activation stimulating bone resorption and inhibiting bone *** found that fractures lead to increased sympathetic tone,enhanced osteoclast resorption,decreased osteoblast formation,and thus hastened systemic bone loss in ovariectomized(OVX)***,the combined administration of parathyroid hormone(PTH)and theβ-receptor blocker propranolol dramatically promoted systemic bone formation and osteoporotic fracture healing in OVX *** effect of this treatment is superior to that of treatment with PTH or propranolol *** vitro,the sympathetic neurotransmitter norepinephrine(NE)suppressed PTH-induced osteoblast differentiation and mineralization,which was rescued by ***,NE decreased the PTH-induced expression of Runx2 but enhanced the expression of Rankl and the effect of PTH-stimulated osteoblasts on osteoclastic differentiation,whereas these effects were reversed by ***,PTH increased the expression of the circadian clock gene Bmal1,which was inhibited by NE-βAR ***1 knockdown blocked the rescue effect of propranolol on the NE-induced decrease in PTHstimulated osteoblast *** together,these results suggest that propranolol enhances the anabolic effect of PTH in preventing systemic bone loss following osteoporotic fracture by blocking the negative effects of sympathetic signaling on PTH anabolism.

The spin-orbit assisted Mott insulator α-RuCl_(3) is a prime candidate for material realization of the Kitaev quantum spin *** little attention has been paid to charge degrees of freedom,charge effects,such as electric polarization,may arise in this ***,we report distortion-induced local electric polarization in α-RuCl_(3) as evidenced by single-crystal X-ray diffraction,second harmonic generation(SHG)and dielectric *** SHG signal appears at room temperature and develops substantially in the Kitaev paramagnetic state when short-range spin correlations come into *** sizable pyroelectric currents in the Kitaev paramagnetic state,the absence of hysteresis in the polarization-electric field(P-E)points to the shortrange nature of electric *** localized electric polarization is likely the result of distortion-induced charge dimerization,achieved through virtual hopping-induced charge *** addition,the electric polarization is boosted by short-range spin correlations via spin-phonon coupling in the Kitaev paramagnetic *** results emphasize the importance of charge degrees of freedom in α-RuCl_(3),which establish a novel platform to investigate charge effects in Kitaev materials.

The rice stem borer(RSB),Chilo suppressalis,a notorious rice pest in China,has evolved a high resistance level to commonly used ***,a new anthranilic diamide insecticide,effectively controls multiple pests,including ***,the potential resistance risk of RSB to tetraniliprole is still *** this study,the tetraniliprole-selection(Tet-R)strain was obtained through 10 continuous generations of selection with tetraniliprole 30%lethal concentration(LC_(30)).The realized heritability(h^(2))of the Tet-R strain was 0.387,indicating that resistance of RSB to tetraniliprole developed rapidly under the continuous selection of *** Tet-R strain had a high fitness cost(relative fitness=0.53).We established the susceptibility baseline of RSB to tetraniliprole(lethal concentration at LC_(50)=0.727 mg/L)and investigated the resistance level of 6 field populations to *** tested strains that had resistance to chlorantraniliprole exhibited moderate-to high-level resistance to tetraniliprole(resistance ratio=27.7-806.8).Detection of ryanodine receptor(RyR)mutations showed that the Y4667C,Y4667D,I4758M,and Y4891F mutations were present in tested RSB field *** mutations were responsible for the cross-resistance between tetraniliprole and ***,the clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9-mediated genome-modified flies were used to study the contribution of RyR mutations to tetraniliprole *** order of contribution of a single RyR mutation to tetraniliprole resistance was Y4667D>G4915E>Y4667C~~I4758M>*** addition,the I4758M and Y4667C double mutations conferred higher tetraniliprole resistance than single Y4667C *** results can guide resistance management practices for diamides in RSB and other arthropods.
