Monitoring dynamic changes of global land cover types:fluctuations of major lakes in China every 8 days during 2000–2010

Remote sensing images can be used to delineate variations in the area of lakes and to assess the influence of environmental changes and human ***,because lakes are dynamic,results obtained from individual images acquired on a single date are not representative and do not accurately reflect ongoing *** this study,we used 8-day moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer(MODIS)composite data from 2000 to2010 to map water surface changes over 629 lakes in *** combined automatic extraction of training data and support vector machine classification to derive the spatial distribution of these large water *** producer’s and user’s accuracies for MODIS images were91.06%and 89.81%,respectively,when compared with interpretation results from 30 m resolution Landsat images taken on similar *** changes,variability,inundation intensity,and rainy seasons of the 629 lakes were analyzed based on this multi-temporal lake *** total area of the 629 lakes increased over the study period,primarily as a result of the expansion of lake areas on the Tibetan *** were 12 lakes with a maximum area[1,000 km2,and six of these decreased in area from 2000to *** shrinkages of Poyang Lake and Dongting Lake were-54.76 and-25.08 km2/a,*** area of lakes on Tibetan Plateau,in northern Xinjiang,northeastern Inner Mongolia,and northeastern China varied little,while lakes on the Yangtze Plain,in southern Inner Mongolia,and central Xinjiang fluctuated *** intensity increased for lakes on the Tibetan Plateau,in northern Xinjiang,Heilongjiang,and Jilin,while inundation extent decreased in central Xinjiang,southern Tibet,southern Inner Mongolia,Sichuan,and on the Yangtze *** study is an attempt to develop high-frequency specific land cover maps to improve applicability of general land cover *** lake products serve as an important supplement to hydrologic *** lake database enables the generation o

High-resolution remote sensing mapping of global land water

Land water, one of the important components of land cover, is the indispensable and important basic information for climate change studies, ecological environment assessment, macro-control analysis, etc. This article describes the overall study on land water in the program of global land cover remote sensing mapping. Through collection and processing of Landsat TM/ETM+, China's HJ-1 satellite image, etc., the program achieves an effective overlay of global multi-spectral image of 30 m resolution for two base years, namely, 2000 and 2010, with the image rectification accuracy meeting the requirements of 1:200000 mapping and the error in registration of images for the two periods being controlled within 1 pixel. The indexes were designed and selected reasonably based on spectral features and geometric shapes of water on the scale of 30 m resolution, the water information was extracted in an elaborate way by combining a simple and easy operation through pixel-based classification method with a comprehensive utilization of various rules and knowledge through the object-oriented classification method, and finally the classification results were further optimized and improved by the human-computer interaction, thus realizing high-resolution remote sensing mapping of global water. The completed global land water data results, including Global Land 30-water 2000 and Global Land 30-water 2010, are the classification results featuring the highest resolution on a global scale, and the overall accuracy of self-assessment is 96%. These data are the important basic data for developing relevant studies, such as analyzing spatial distribution pattern of global land water, revealing regional difference, studying space-time fluctuation law, and diagnosing health of ecological environment.

鄱阳湖是中国第一大淡水湖,对鄱阳湖的水文变化进行持续监测可以为流域内生态环境变化提供基础数据,有利于研究其与长江和流域内河流的交互关系,更好地服务于陆面过程模式和水资源管理。本文利用卫星测高数据反演的鄱阳湖水位数据与MODIS数据结合,对鄱阳湖2000-2015年的水位、水域面积和水量变化进行研究,并通过水量平衡模型,推导出了同期长江-鄱阳湖的水量交互。研究发现,2000-2015年鄱阳湖面积呈现波动性变化,最大水域面积为3600 km^2,是最小水域面积482 km^2的7.5倍。2004年、2007年、2009年和2011年水域面积比较低,2012年后形势好转。每年1月、2月、12月份是鄱阳湖干季,水域面积低至500 km^2,湖口处水位可低至4.71 m,湖面从南往北倾斜,南北水位差异达2.59 m。相对于2000-2015年最低水量,干季时湖泊水量平均增加量为3 km^3。每年6-9月份是鄱阳湖的湿季,水域面积一般大于2670 km^2,水位高于15 m,南北水位差异不大,相对于2000-2015年最低水量,湿季时湖泊水量平均增加量为12 km^3。2000-2015年鄱阳湖流入长江的水量范围为-7~40.66 km^3,每年有93.33%的时间水流从鄱阳湖流入长江。流入长江的水量多少具有明显的季节性,通常5月、6月流入长江的水量高于7月、8月,主要因为7月、8月长江中上游降水增加,长江干流来水增多,对鄱阳湖湖水倒灌有一定的顶托作用。

Straw interlayer improves sunflower root growth: Evidence from moisture and salt migration and the microbial community in saline-alkali soil

A straw interlayer added to soil can effectively reduce soil salinity effects on plant growth, however, the effects of soil moisture, salt and microbial community composition on plant growth under a straw interlayer are unclear. A rhizobox study was conducted to investigate the role of straw interlayer thickness on soil moisture, salt migration, microbial community composition, as well as root growth in sunflower. The study included four treatments: Control(no straw interlayer); S3(straw interlayer of 3.0 cm); S5(straw interlayer of 5.0 cm); S7(straw interlayer of 7.0 cm). Straw interlayer treatments increased soil moisture by 8.2–11.0% after irrigation and decreased soil salt content after the bud stage in 0–40 cm soil. Total root length, total root surface area, average root diameter, total root volume and the number of root tips of sunflower plants were higher under straw interlayer treatments than in the control, and were the highest under the S5 treatment. This stimulated root growth was ascribed to the higher abundance of Chloroflexi and Verrucomicrobia bacteria in soil with a straw interlayer, which was increased by 55.7 and 54.7%, respectively,in the S5 treatment. Addition of a straw interlayer of 5 cm thickness is a practical and environmentally feasible approach for improving sunflower root growth in saline-alkali soil.

粤港澳大湾区水体淹没频率变化及驱动力分析

文章围绕粤港澳大湾区建设的国家战略资源保障需求,基于2001—2020年粤港澳大湾区水体淹没频率数据库,利用空间分析与统计分析相结合的研究方法探究近20年来大湾区各类水体范围、特征及水体淹没频率的时空变迁规律,识别区域水体变迁的热点区域,探讨水体分布变迁的驱动因素,为强人类活动干扰区水资源综合管理、洪涝灾害防控等工作提供依据与指导。研究表明:1)近20年来粤港澳大湾区地表水体范围及淹没频率均呈萎缩趋势,最大、平均及季节性水体面积分别以50、31与11 km^(2)/a速率衰减,大量季节性水体转化为永久水体与易涝区;2)粤港澳大湾区水面率变迁的时空差异、城乡差异均显著,东翼水面率略有增长,其余地区均大幅萎缩,城区水面率相对较低且下降幅度较大,城市扩张区永久水体衰减率达到90%;3)从水体类型看,基塘系统大量流失,上游大中型湖库面积略有增长;4)区域水体变迁的主导驱动因素为城市化引起的土地利用变化,其对年平均总体水体及基塘水体面积贡献率超过80%,湖库水体面积扩张则主要受降水驱动。

鄱阳湖位于江西省南部,与长江相连,是中国第一大淡水湖,丰水期面积可以达到3000 km^(2)以上,枯水期面积可低至800 km^(2)左右。作为长江干流重要的调蓄性湖泊,鄱阳湖对流域调蓄洪水、生态多样性保护及区域经济发展有重要作用。本研究基于高时间频率的MODIS数据,得到了2000-2020年鄱阳湖丰、枯水期的边界数据。分别与两期干湿季鄱阳湖水域边界的目视解译结果进行对比,得出本数据集的总体精度高于85%。本数据集反映了鄱阳湖近21年丰、枯水期的边界变化情况,可为鄱阳湖流域的生态保护和水资源管理等研究提供基础数据。

Land use reflects human activities on *** land use is the highest level human alteration on Earth,and it is rapidly changing due to population increase and *** areas have widespread effects on local hydrology,climate,biodiversity,and food production[1,2].However,maps,that contain knowledge on the distribution,pattern and composition of various land use types in urban areas,are limited to city *** mapping standard on data sources,methods,land use classification schemes varies from city to city,due to differences in financial input and skills of mapping *** address various national and global environmental challenges caused by urbanization,it is important to have urban land uses at the national and global scales that are derived from the same or consistent data sources with the same or compatible classification systems and mapping *** is because,only with urban land use maps produced with similar criteria,consistent environmental policies can be made,and action efforts can be compared and assessed for large scale environmental ***,despite of the fact that a number of urban-extent maps exist at global scales[3,4],more detailed urban land use maps do not exist at the same *** at big country or regional levels such as for the United States,China and European Union,consistent land use mapping efforts are rare[5,6](e.g.,https://***/open_land_use/).
