Theoretical understanding of correlation between magnetic phase transition and the superconducting dome in high-Tc cuprates

Many issues concerning the origin of high-temperature superconductivity(HTS)are still under *** example,how the magnetic order varies with doping and its relationship with the superconducting temperature(Tc);and why Tcalways peaks near the quantum critical *** this paper,taking hole-doped La_(2)CuO_(4)as a classical example,we employ the first-principles band structure and total energy calculations with Monte Carlo simulations to explore how the symmetry-breaking magnetic ground state evolves with hole doping and the origin of a dome-shaped superconductivity region in the phase *** demonstrate that the local antiferromagnetic order and doping play key roles in determining the electron-phonon coupling,thus ***,the La_(2)CuO_(4)possesses a checkerboard local antiferromagnetic ground *** the hole doping increases,Tcincreases with the enhanced electron-phonon coupling *** as the doping increases further,the strength of the antiferromagnetic interaction weakens and spin fluctuation *** the critical doping level,a magnetic phase transition occurs that reduces the local antiferromagnetism-assisted electron-phonon coupling,thus diminishing the *** superconductivity disappears in the heavily overdoped region when the ferromagnetic order *** observations could account for why cuprates have a dome-shaped superconductivity region in the phase *** study,thus,contributes to a fundamental understanding of the correlation between doping,local magnetic order,and superconductivity of HTS.

Sources, enrichment mechanisms, and resource effects of rare metal elements-enriched geothermal springs in Xizang, China

Rare metals such as lithium(Li), rubidium(Rb), and cesium(Cs) are strategically crucial mineral resources for the development of emerging industries in China. Ensuring a stable long-term supply of these resources is essential. The geothermal systems in Xizang, China are well-developed, with a wide distribution of various types. Most high-temperature geothermal systems in Xizang are exceptionally enriched in rare metal elements(RMEs) and have the potential to become a new source of rare metals to secure China's strategic mineral resource supply in the future. A close relationship also exists between the geothermal system and the special salt lake resources on the Tibetan Plateau. Geothermal springs thus play a key role in the migration and enrichment of RMEs from deep to shallow parts of the crust, in the transition between endogenous and exogenous mineralization, and source-to-sink processes. However, the mechanisms of element enrichment and evolution in these springs have not been systematically discussed, and many theoretical issues remain to be investigated. Based on summarizing and analyzing previous research, this study employs hydrochemical and isotopic geochemistry methods to investigate typical geothermal springs across Xizang and explore the anomalous enrichment mechanism of RMEs, and the resource effects of geothermal springs. Comprehensive analysis shows that the total dissolved solids(TDS) and hydrochemical types of geothermal springs are similar to those of major geothermal fields worldwide, but the Tibetan springs are abnormally rich in Li(averaging5.48 mg/L), Rb(averaging 0.75 mg/L), and Cs(averaging 3.58 mg/L), which are hundreds to thousands of times more concentrated than natural waters. The distribution of these enriched geothermal springs is controlled by the Yarlung Zangbo suture zone and the extended N-S trending rifts, especially in the intersection zone of the two, where the geothermal springs are the most enriched. This paper conducts a theoretical analysis of ground settlements due to shield tunneling in multi-layered soils which are usually encountered in urban *** proposed theoretical solution which is based on the general form of the Mindlin’s solution and Loganathan-Poulos formula can comprehensively consider the in-process tunneling parameters including:unbalanced face pressure,shield-soil friction,unbalanced tail grouting pressure,unbalanced secondary grouting pressure,overloading during tunneling and the ground volume *** method is verified by comparing with the field data from the Qinghuayuan Tunnel Project in terms of the ground surface settlements along the longitudinal and transverse *** to the local settlement or heave caused by the certain tunneling parameters,the ground surface settlements calculated using current solution along the longitudinal direction presents an irregular S-shaped curve instead of the traditional S-shaped *** also find that the effect of the unbalanced secondary grouting pressure and the overloading during tunneling cannot be ignored.

Nanomedicine-mediated immunogenic cell death and its combination with immune checkpoint blockade therapy

Cancer immunotherapies, which train the natural immune system to specifically kill tumor cells while sparing the healthy cells,have helped revolutionize cancer treatments and demonstrated promising clinical therapeutic benefits for decades. However, the therapeutic outcome of immunotherapies, even for the most successful immune checkpoint blockade(ICB) therapy, remains unsatisfactory in the clinical practice, mainly due to the low immunogenicity of solid tumors and its immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment(TME). Notably, several cancer treatment modalities, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and phototherapy, have been revealed to evoke tumor immunogenicity and reverse immunosuppressive TME via inducing immunogenic cell death(ICD) of tumor cells, which synergistically sensitized tumors to ICB therapy. Nanomedicines have been extensively applied to augment ICD-inducing treatment modalities and potentiate ICB therapeutic efficacy therapy due to the opportune convergence of immunotherapy and nanotechnology. Here, we discuss the recent advances in nanomedicine-mediated ICD and its combination with ICB therapy.

Effect of pipe installation and external load on buried steel pipe responses:Experimental and numerical investigations

During pipe installation,compacting soil at pipe sides causes an initial pipe deformation which is known as the"peaking"***,in conventional pipe design codes,only pipe deformation caused by vertical overburden is considered while the"peaking"effect is *** this study,a full-scale test was conducted on a Grade X52 steel pipe with a diameter of 600 mm to investigate the impacts of both soil compaction and vertical overburden on pipe *** compaction and external load were found to elongate and shorten the vertical pipe diameter,***"peaking"effect was observed during the installation procedure accompanied by the highest pipe stress measured at the pipe ***,a two-dimensional finite element model was created and validated based on the calculated pipe stresses from the experimental study.A parametric study was performed thereafter to numerically study the impacts of soil water content,pipe wall thickness,compaction pressure,and lift thickness on pipe responses due to soil compaction and external *** increase in the"peaking"effect is observed with increasing soil water content and compaction pressure,while an increase in pipe wall thickness or lift thickness would cause a decrease in the"peaking"effect.

Simple and effective:superlubricity behaviour of the G-quadruplex hydrogel with high selectivity for K+ions based on the ocular environment

Hydrogels have been the subject of significant research in the field of friction due to their exceptional lubricating *** this study,the G-quadruplex hydrogel with high selectivity for K+ions was formed by introducing a mixture of G,2-formylphenylboronic acid,and polyethylene glycol diamine into simulated artificial tears solution with high transparency,and an ultra-low coefficient of friction(COF)of about 0.004 was obtained based on the simulated ocular environment,thus achieving macroscopic *** friction pairs simulating the ocular environment,to assess the frictional performance of the G-quadruplex hydrogel as both a lubricant and a friction pair based on the simulated ocular environment,we conducted experiments considering various factors such as concentration,sliding speed,and *** these experiments,it was found that superlubricity was achieved when the G-quadruplex hydrogel was applied as lubricant or friction *** effect was attributed to the three-dimensional network structure and hydrophilicity of the hydrogel,which facilitated the formation of a highly bearing and flowing hydration layer,promoting macroscopic *** to the G-quadruplex hydrogel with low concentration,the high concentration hydrogel(75 mM)exhibited increased mechanical strength and robustness in *** with biocompatibility experiments,our synthesized G-quadruplex hydrogel has excellent biocompatibility and offers a novel approach to achieve superlubricity in ocular drug delivery.

Analytical Models of on-Chip Hardware Trojan Detection Based on Radiated Emission Characteristics

Since many third parties involved in integrated circuit(IC) manufacturing, hardware Trojans malicious implantation have become a threat to the IC industry. Therefore, varieties of reliable hardware Trojan detection methods are needed. Since electromagnetic radiation is an inherent phenomenon of electronic devices, there are significant differences in the electromagnetic radiated characteristics for circuits with different structures and operating states. In this paper, a novel hardware Trojan detection method is proposed, which considers the electromagnetic radiation differences caused by hardware Trojan implantation. Experiments of detecting hardware Trojan in field programmable gate arrays show that the proposed method can effectively distinguish the ICs with Trojan from the ones without Trojan by the radiated emission.

Anti-infective immune functions of type Ⅳ interferon in grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella):A novel antibacterial and antiviral interferon in lower vertebrates

Type Ⅳ interferon(IFN-υ)is a recently discovered cytokine crucial for host defense against viral ***,the role and mechanisms of IFN-υin bacterial infections remain *** study investigated the antibacterial and antiviral functions and mechanisms of grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella)IFN-υ(CiIFN-υ)both in vivo and in *** CiIFN-υgene was first identified and characterized in grass ***,the immune expression of CiIFN-υsignificantly increased following bacterial challenge,indicating its response to bacterial *** eukaryotic recombinant expression plasmid of CiIFN-υwas then constructed and transfected into fathead minnow(FHM)*** were collected and incubated with four bacterial strains,followed by plate spreading and colony *** indicated that CiIFN-υexhibited more potent antibacterial activity against gram-negative bacteria compared to gram-positive bacteria and aggregated gram-negative bacteria but not gram-positive *** vivo experiments further confirmed the antibacterial function,showing high survival rates,low tissue edema and damage,reduced tissue bacterial load,and elevated proinflammatory response at the early stages of bacterial *** addition,the antiviral function of CiIFN-υwas confirmed through in vitro and in vivo experiments,including crystal violet staining,survival rates,tissue viral burden,and reverse transcription-quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-qPCR).This study highlights the antibacterial function and preliminary mechanism of IFN-υ,demonstrating that IFN-υpossesses dual functions against bacterial and viral infections.

Knockdown of the atypical protein kinase genes GhABC1K2-A05 and GhABC1K12-A07 make cotton more sensitive to salt and PEG stress

Activity of bc1 complex kinase(ABC1K)is an atypical protein kinase(aPK)that plays a crucial role in plant mitochondrial and plastid stress responses,but little is known about the responses of ABC1Ks to stress in cotton(Gossypium spp.).Here,we identified 40 ABC1Ks in upland cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)and found that the Gh ABC1Ks were unevenly distributed across 17 *** GhABC1K family members included 35 paralogous gene pairs and were expanded by segmental *** GhABC1K promoter sequences contained diverse cis-acting regulatory elements relevant to hormone or stress *** qRT-PCR results revealed that most Gh ABC1Ks were upregulated by exposure to different *** ABC1K2-A05 and Gh ABC1K12-A07 expression levels were upregulated by at least three stress *** genes were further functionally characterized by virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS).Compared with the controls,the Gh ABC1K2-A05-and Gh ABC1K12-A07-silenced cotton lines exhibited higher malondialdehyde(MDA)contents,lower catalase(CAT),peroxidase(POD)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)activities and reduced chlorophyll and soluble sugar contents under NaCl and PEG *** addition,the expression levels of six stress marker genes(Gh DREB2A,Gh SOS1,Gh CIPK6,Gh SOS2,Gh WRKY33,and Gh RD29A)were significantly downregulated after stress in the Gh ABC1K2-A05-and Gh ABC1K12-A07-silenced *** results indicate that knockdown of Gh ABC1K2-A05 and Gh ABC1K12-A07 make cotton more sensitive to salt and PEG *** findings can provide valuable information for intensive studies of Gh ABC1Ks in the responses and resistance of cotton to abiotic stresses.
