High-performance GaInP/AlGaInP multi-quantum well light-emitting diodes(LEDs) grown on a low threading dislocation density(TDD) germanium-on-insulator(GOI) substrate have been demonstrated. The low TDD of the GOI substrate is realized through Ge epitaxial growth, wafer bonding, and layer transfer processes on 200 mm wafers. With O_2 annealing, the TDD of the GOI substrate can be reduced to ~1.2 × 10~6 cm^(-2). LEDs fabricated on this GOI substrate exhibit record-high optical output power of 1.3 mW at a 670 nm peak wavelength under 280 mA current injection. This output power level is at least 2 times higher compared to other reports of similar devices on a silicon(Si) substrate without degrading the electrical performance. These results demonstrate great promise for the monolithic integration of visible-band optical sources with Si-based electronic circuitry and realization of high-density RGB(red, green, and blue) micro-LED arrays with control circuitry.

The crystallization behavior of wollastonite glass-ceramics was investigated by means of X-ray diffraction （XRD） analysis and surface morphological observations, and the chemical compositions were evaluated by field emission-scanning electron microscopy （FE-SEM） and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDS）. Various heat treatment temperatures （850, 900, 950, 1000 and 1050 ℃） were used to obtain glass-ceramics of the ideal wollastonite crystal phase as well as optimum mechanical properties and chemical durability. From XRD, FE-SEM and EDS, the crystallization of acicular crystal phase in the matrix was achieved at heat treatment temperature of 1000 and 1050 ℃, and wollastonite （CaSiO3） was found in the acicular type main crystal phase in the glass-ceramics. Various properties, such as density, compressive strength, bending strength and chemical durability were also examined. The mechanical properties of glass-ceramics obtained at the heat treatment temperature of 1000 and 1050 ℃ were superior to those obtained at the heat treatment temperature of 850 ℃.

BACKGROUND Compared with colorectal adenocarcinoma,basaloid squamous cell carcinomas(BSCCs)arising in the colorectum are rare and have very poor *** date,only nine cases have been *** BSCCs are extensively involved in metastasis to the lymph node,liver,and lung at *** many clinicians attempting to effectively treat BSCCs,therapeutic consensus has not been established due to lack of *** SUMMARY A 58-year-old woman presented with abdominal pain,diarrhea,fever,and *** was referred from a department of gynecology and was diagnosed with a suspicious leiomyosarcoma of the rectum or a pedunculated myoma of the *** exophytic growing mass at the right lateral wall of the rectum with an internal cystic portion and hemorrhage was observed on magnetic resonance *** patient underwent low anterior resection and total hysterectomy with bilateral *** findings revealed a cellular mass with a solid growth pattern and few glandular structures,many foci of intratumoral necrosis,and a palisading *** pathologist diagnosed tumor as a BSCC,and the patient received chemotherapy with fluorouracil/leucovorin without *** patient is currently alive 8 years after the surgery with no manifestations of metastatic colon *** Our case suggest that curative resection and chemotherapy play important roles in improving survival,and radiotherapy may be an option to avoid radiationassociated enteritis.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the prognostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR) and myeloidderived suppressor cells(MDSCs) in gastric cancer patients treated with second-line ramucirumab plus ***: A total of 116 patients with advanced or metastatic gastric cancer who receive ramucirumab plus paclitaxel were prospectively enrolled. Fresh blood samples were collected before and after treatment, and flow cytometry was performed to assess the proportions of monocytic(m MDSCs) and granulocytic MDSCs(g MDSCs).Results: Median age was 58 years and 71(61.2%) patients were male. A baseline NLR≥2.94 was associated with significantly poorer progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS) vs. an NLR<2.94(P=0.011 and P=0.002, respectively). In multivariate analysis, an NLR≥2.94 was independently associated with poorer PFS[hazard ratio(HR)=1.58;95% confidence interval(95% CI): 1.01-2.49, P=0.046] and OS(HR=1.77;95% CI:1.04-3.04, P=0.036). While m MDSC counts did not significantly change following two cycles of therapy(P=0.530),g MDSC counts decreased significantly after two treatment cycles(P=0.025) but tended to increase in patients with progressive disease after two treatment cycles(P=0.098). A progressive increase in g MDSC counts(≥44%) was associated with a significantly shorter PFS and OS vs. a g MDSC count increase <44%(P=0.001 and P=0.003,respectively).Conclusions: The baseline NLR may help guide clinical decisions during ramucirumab plus paclitaxel therapy for gastric cancer. Our g MDSC kinetics data warrant further clinical validation and mechanistic investigation.

The current research study focuses to formulate the biosynthesized silver nanoparticles for the first time from silver acetate using methanolic root extracts of Diospyros sylvatica,a member of family Ebenaceae. TEM analysis revealed the average diameter of Ag NPs around 8 nm which is in good agreement with the average crystallite size（10 nm）calculated from X-ray Diffraction（XRD）analysis. Further the study has been extended to the antimicrobial activity against test pathogenic Gram（＋）ve,Gram（-）ve bacterial and fungal strains. The bioinspired Ag-NP showed promising activity against all the tested bacterial strains and the activity was enhanced with increased dosage levels
