Global climate change-caused drought stress,high temperatures and other extreme weather profoundly impact plant growth and development,restricting sustainable crop production.To cope with various environmental stimuli,plants can optimize the opening and closing of stomata to balance CO_(2)uptake for photosynthesis and water loss from leaves.Guard cells perceive and integrate various signals to adjust stomatal pores through turgor pressure regulation.Molecular mechanisms and signaling networks underlying the stomatal movements in response to environmental stresses have been extensively studied and elucidated.This review focuses on the molecular mechanisms of stomatal movements mediated by abscisic acid,light,CO_(2),reactive oxygen species,pathogens,temperature,and other phytohormones.We discussed the significance of elucidating the integrative mechanisms that regulate stomatal movements in helping design smart crops with enhanced water use efficiency and resilience in a climate-changing world.

Current mainstream unsupervised video object segmentation(UVOS) approaches typically incorporate optical flow as motion information to locate the primary objects in coherent video frames. However, they fuse appearance and motion information without evaluating the quality of the optical flow. When poor-quality optical flow is used for the interaction with the appearance information, it introduces significant noise and leads to a decline in overall performance. To alleviate this issue, we first employ a quality evaluation module(QEM) to evaluate the optical flow. Then, we select high-quality optical flow as motion cues to fuse with the appearance information, which can prevent poor-quality optical flow from diverting the network's attention. Moreover, we design an appearance-guided fusion module(AGFM) to better integrate appearance and motion information. Extensive experiments on several widely utilized datasets, including DAVIS-16, FBMS-59, and You Tube-Objects, demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms existing methods.

Aiming to mitigate the aerodynamic lift force imbalance between pantograph strips,which exacerbates wear and affects the current collection performance of the pantograph-catenary system,a study has been conducted to support the beam deflector optimization using a combination of experimental measurements and computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations.The results demonstrate that the size,position,and installation orientation of the wind deflectors significantly influence the amount of force compensation.They also indicate that the front strip deflectors should be installed downwards and the rear strip deflectors upwards,thereby forming a“π”shape.Moreover,the lift force compensation provided by the wind deflectors increases with the size of the deflector.Alternative wind compensation strategies,such as control circuits,are also discussed,putting emphasis on the pros and cons of various pantograph types and wind compensation approaches.

Immune cells in the B-cell lymphoma microenvironment: From basic research to clinical applications

B-cell lymphoma is a group of hematological malignancies characterized by variable genetic and biological features and clinical behaviors. The tumor microenvironment (TME) is a complex network in tumors, which consists of surrounding blood vessels, extracellular matrix, immune and non-immune cells, and signaling molecules. Increasing evidence has shown that the TME, especially immune cells within, is a double-edged sword, acting either as a tumor killer or as a promoter of tumor progression. These pro-tumor activities are driven by subpopulations of immune cells that express typical markers but have unique transcriptional characteristics, making tumor-associated immune cells good targets for human anti-cancer therapy by ablating immunosuppressive cells or enhancing immune-activated cells. Thus, exploring the role of immune cells in the TME provides distinct insights for immunotherapy in B-cell lymphoma. In this review, we elucidated the interaction between immune cells and tumor cells and their function in the initiation, progression, and prognosis of B-cell lymphoma, from preclinical experiments to clinical trials. Furthermore, we outlined potential therapeutic approaches and discussed the potential clinical value and future perspectives of targeting immune cells in patients with B-cell lymphoma.

High efficient parallel numerical surface wave model based on an irregular quasi-rectangular domain decomposition scheme

To achieve high parallel efficiency for the global MASNUM surface wave model, the algorithm of an irregular quasirectangular domain decomposition and related serializing of calculating points and data exchanging schemes are developed and conducted, based on the environment of Message Passing Interface(MPI). The new parallel version of the surface wave model is tested for parallel computing on the platform of the Sunway BlueLight supercomputer in the National Supercomputing Center in Jinan. The testing involves four horizontal resolutions, which are 1°×1°,(1/2)°×(1/2)°,(1/4)°×(1/4)°, and(1/8)°×(1/8)°. These tests are performed without data Input/Output(IO) and the maximum amount of processors used in these tests reaches to 131072. The testing results show that the computing speeds of the model with different resolutions are all increased with the increasing of numbers of processors. When the number of processors is four times that of the base processor number, the parallel efficiencies of all resolutions are greater than 80%. When the number of processors is eight times that of the base processor number, the parallel efficiency of tests with resolutions of 1°×1°,(1/2)°×(1/2)° and(1/4)°×(1/4)° is greater than 80%, and it is 62% for the test with a resolution of(1/8)°×(1/8)° using 131072 processors, which is the nearly all processors of Sunway BlueLight. When the processor's number is 24 times that of the base processor number, the parallel efficiencies for tests with resolutions of 1°×1°,(1/2)°×(1/2)°, and(1/4)°×(1/4)° are 72%, 62%, and 38%, respectively. The speedup and parallel efficiency indicate that the irregular quasi-rectangular domain decomposition and serialization schemes lead to high parallel efficiency and good scalability for a global numerical wave model.

Lung cancer is one of the most common malignancies and has the highest number of deaths among all cancers. Despite continuous advances in medical strategies, the overall survival of lung cancer patients is still low, probably due to disease progression or drug resistance. Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent form of regulated cell death triggered by the lethal accumulation of lipid peroxides, and its dysregulation is implicated in cancer development. Preclinical evidence has shown that targeting the ferroptosis pathway could be a potential strategy for improving lung cancer treatment outcomes. In this review, we summarize the underlying mechanisms and regulatory networks of ferroptosis in lung cancer and highlight ferroptosis-targeting preclinical attempts to provide new insights for lung cancer treatment.

A major challenge for the efficient treatment of traumatic brain injury is the need for therapeutic molecules to cross the blood-brain barrier to enter and accumulate in brain tissue.To overcome this problem,researchers have begun to focus on nanocarriers and other brain-targeting drug delivery systems.In this review,we summarize the epidemiology,basic pathophysiology,current clinical treatment,the establishment of models,and the evaluation indicators that are commonly used for traumatic brain injury.We also report the current status of traumatic brain injury when treated with nanocarriers such as liposomes and vesicles.Nanocarriers can overcome a variety of key biological barriers,improve drug bioavailability,increase intracellular penetration and retention time,achieve drug enrichment,control drug release,and achieve brain-targeting drug delivery.However,the application of nanocarriers remains in the basic research stage and has yet to be fully translated to the clinic.

A low-profile,vertically polarized,ultra-wideband array antenna with end-fire beams operating in an ultra-high frequency(UHF)band is developed in this paper.The array antenna consists of 1×16 log-periodic top-hat loaded monopole antenna arrays and is feasible to embed into a shallow cavity to further reduce the array height.Capacitance is introduced in the proposed antenna element to reduce profile height and the rectangular top hats are carefully designed to minimize the transverse dimension.Simulated results show that when the antenna array operates in a frequency range of 300 MHz-900 MHz,the end-fire radiation pattern achieves±45°scanning range in the horizontal plane.Then prototypes of the proposed end-fire antenna element and a uniformly spaced linear array(1×2)are fabricated and validated.The end-fire antenna array should be suitable for airborne applications where low-profile and conformal scanning phased antenna arrays with end-fire radiations are required.This design is attractive for airborne platform applications that are used to search,discover,identify,and scout the aerial target with vertically polarized beams.

Both software debugging and artificial intelligence techniques are hot topics in the current field of software engineering. Debugging techniques, which comprise fault localization and program repair, are an important part of the software development lifecycle for ensuring the quality of software systems. As the scale and complexity of software systems grow, developers intend to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of software debugging via artificial intelligence(artificial intelligence for software debugging, AI4SD). On the other hand, many artificial intelligence models are being integrated into safety-critical areas such as autonomous driving, image recognition, and audio processing, where software debugging is highly necessary and urgent(software debugging for artificial intelligence, SD4AI). An AI-enhanced debugging technique could assist in debugging AI systems more effectively, and a more robust and reliable AI approach could further guarantee and support debugging techniques. Therefore, it is important to take AI4SD and SD4AI into consideration comprehensively. In this paper, we want to show readers the path, the trend, and the potential that these two directions interact with each other. We select and review a total of 165 papers in AI4SD and SD4AI for answering three research questions, and further analyze opportunities and challenges as well as suggest future directions of this cross-cutting area.
