Background Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy （HCM） is a primary autosomal dominant inheritant myocardial disease with heterogeneity in clinical manifestations, natural history and prognosis. Even carrying an identical gene mutation among family members, a va[iety of clinical phenotypes have been found in patients with HCM. Modifier genes may contribute to the diversity. The plasma levels of atrial natriuretic peptides （ANP） were found previously to be elevated in HCM. Our studies suggested that ANP gene promoter polymorphism is associated with left ventricular hypertrophy in hypertension. The present study aimed to determine whether the two SNPs in the ANP gene are associated with HCM Methods We determined the relationships between the ANP gene polymorphism and HCM in 262 HCM patients and 614 age- and sex-matched healthy individuals. All of the subjects were genotyped for -A2843G and A188G polymorphisms. Results The genotype frequency in the -A2843G and A188G polymorphisms of the ANP gene was not significantly different between the HCM patients and controls. The -A2843G and A188G polymorphisms were also not associated with clinical phenotype in cardiomyopathy patients. Conclusions The polymorphisms of the ANP gene are not associated with increasing risk of HCM or clinical phenotypes. The variations of the ANP gene may not serve as a genetic modifier for the development of HCM.

Background The ghrelin plays an important role in the regulation of food intake and energy homeostasis. Therefore, the ghrelin receptor gene （GHSR） is an excellent candidate for studying metabolic syndrome. This study aimed to investigate whether polymorphisms in ghrelin receptor gene are associated with metabolic syndrome in Chinese population. Methods Subjects consisted of 698 patients aged 41 to 80 years, diagnosed as metabolic syndrome by International Diabetes Federation （IDF） 2005 criteria, and 762 age- and gender-matched controls. Three variants within the GHSR were selected and genotyped using polymerase chain reaction （PCR） and restriction fragment length polymorphism （RFLP）. Odds ratios were estimated using a case-control study design by controlling confounding factors. Results The NA genotype （rs2922126） in the promoter was associated with metabolic syndrome （OR 1.41, 95%C/ 1.03-1.94）, increased waist circumference （OR 1.75, 95%C/1.26-2.42）, and increased fast blood glucose （OR 1.49, 95%CI 1.07-2.06） in women. The NA genotype （rs509030） in the intron was associated with lower plasma high density lipoprotein in women （OR 1.37, 95%C/1.02-1.84）. Conclusion The polymorphisms within GHSR might be a genetic risk factor for metabolic syndrome in women.

Background Tumor necrosis factor-induced protein 3 （TNFAIP3） gene has been shown important in cardiac remodeling. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether the variants of TNFAIP3 gene are associated with left ventricular hypertrophy （LVH） in hypertensive patients.Methods Four representatives of all the other single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） in TNFAIP3 gene were tested for association with hypertrophy in two independent hypertensive populations （n=2120 and n=324）.Results We found that only the tag SNP （rs5029939） was consistently lower in the hypertensives with cardiac hypertrophy than in those without cardiac hypertrophy in the two study populations, indicating a protective effect on LVH （odds ratio （OR）（95% confidence interval （CI））0.58 （0.358-0.863）, P=0.035; OR （95% CI）=0.477 （0.225-0.815）, P〈0.05,respectively）. Multiple regression analyses confirmed that the patients with G allele of rs5029939 had less thickness in inter-ventricular septum, left ventricular posterior wall, relative wall thickness and left ventricular mass index than did those with CC allele in the hypertensive patients in both study populations （all P〈0.01）.Conclusion These findings indicate that the SNP （rs5029939） in the TNFAIP3 gene may serve as a novel protective genetic marker for the development of LVH in patients with hypertension

An integrated method of selecting environmental covariates for predictive soil depth mapping

Environmental covariates are the basis of predictive soil mapping.Their selection determines the performance of soil mapping to a great extent,especially in cases where the number of soil samples is limited but soil spatial heterogeneity is high.In this study,we proposed an integrated method to select environmental covariates for predictive soil depth mapping.First,candidate variables that may influence the development of soil depth were selected based on pedogenetic knowledge.Second,three conventional methods(Pearson correlation analysis(PsCA),generalized additive models(GAMs),and Random Forest(RF))were used to generate optimal combinations of environmental covariates.Finally,three optimal combinations were integrated to produce a final combination based on the importance and occurrence frequency of each environmental covariate.We tested this method for soil depth mapping in the upper reaches of the Heihe River Basin in Northwest China.A total of 129 soil sampling sites were collected using a representative sampling strategy,and RF and support vector machine(SVM)models were used to map soil depth.The results showed that compared to the set of environmental covariates selected by the three conventional selection methods,the set of environmental covariates selected by the proposed method achieved higher mapping accuracy.The combination from the proposed method obtained a root mean square error(RMSE)of 11.88 cm,which was 2.25–7.64 cm lower than the other methods,and an R^2 value of 0.76,which was 0.08–0.26 higher than the other methods.The results suggest that our method can be used as an alternative to the conventional methods for soil depth mapping and may also be effective for mapping other soil properties.

Background Even carrying an identical gene mutation, inter- and intra-family variations have been noticed worldwide in the presence and the severity of left ventricular hypertrophy and sudden death in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy （HCM）. Modifier genes may contribute to the diversity. Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 （ACE2） gene has been established to be associated with parameters of left ventricular hypertrophy in community based male subjects. The objective of the present study was to investigate the association of ACE2 gene polymorphisms with the phenotype of HCM. Methods A total of 261 consecutive HCM patients and 609 healthy controls were enrolled into this study. The polymorphism of rs2106809 and rs6632677 were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism （PCR-RFLP） and confirmed by sequencing. Logistic regression model and multivariate analysis were used to determine the odds ratio （OR） and 95% confidence intervals （CO of variations of ACE2 for HCM. Results The T allele of rs2106809 and C allele of rs6632677 conferred increasing risk for HCM （OR 1.34, 95%C/ 1.01-1.77, P=0.04; OR 1.11, 95%C/ 1.03-1.21, P=0.002, respectively）, and the 2 single nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） were in strong linkage disequilibrium （LD）, the TC haplotype was independently associated with a higher OR for HCM （OR=1.59, 95%C/1.21-1.87） after adjusted for conventional risk factors. And the risk alleles were associated with thicker interventricular septal thickness of HCM （（20.0±6.3） mm vs （17.9±5.5） mm, P=0.03 and （21.3±5.9） mm vs （17.9±5.8） mm, P=0.04, respectively）. No association was found between the two polymorphisms with female patients with HCM. Conclusion Minor alleles of ACE2 gene might be the genetic modifier for the magnitude of left ventricular hypertrophy in male patients with HCM.

The tip-clearance flow in a pump-jet propulsor exerts great impacts on the fluctuating pressures and resultant unsteady forces,which are important sources of structural vibrations and radiated noise underwater.The blade geometry close to the tip is an important factor determining the vortex strength in the tip-clearance flow.In the open-water condition,the effects of raking the rotor tips on the duct-surface fluctuating pressures and the resultant unsteady forces acting on different components of the propulsor are investigated via physical model experiments and the numerical solution of Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)equations coupled with the SST k-ωturbulence model.The measured and simulated results of hydrodynamic pressures are consistent to each other,and the simulated flows help better understand why the fluctuating pressures change with the tip geometry.The strong fluctuations of duct-surface pressures are caused by intensive tip separation vortices.The duct-surface pressure fluctuations are effectively reduced by using the rake distribution near the tip towards blade back side and,for the combination of the five-bladed rotor and the seven-bladed stator,the resultant unsteady horizontal(and vertical)forces acting on the duct and stator are also reduced;while increasing rake leads to negative effect on pressure fluctuations and unsteady horizontal(and vertical)forces acting on all the components of the propulsor.

目的:探讨腹腔镜下经腹腔腹膜前疝修补术(TAPP)在治疗嵌顿性股疝方面的安全性及有效性。方法:回顾分析2017年4月—2021年12月天津中医药大学第一附属医院收治的30例嵌顿性股疝患者的临床资料,根据手术方式分为腹腔镜组17例,开放组13例,比较两组患者的手术情况、住院时间、并发症及随访结果等。结果:腹腔镜组手术时间[(71.35±10.48)min vs(86.90±12.54)min,P=0.010]、术中出血量[(17.06±3.40)m L vs(33.69±6.55)m L,P<0.001]、住院天数少于开放组[(5.90±1.30)d vs(8.23±9.93)d,P<0.001],术后疼痛评分低于开放组[(1.12±0.33)vs(2.09±0.70),P<0.001],术后排气时间短于开放组[(14.82±4.20)h vs(21.64±3.17)h,P<0.001],差异均有统计学意义;两组术后并发症无统计差异,术后随访1年,两组患者均未见复发。结论:TAPP手术治疗嵌顿性股疝是安全有效的,具有减少手术时间及出血,促进患者康复的优势。

The high-energy-density and low-cost features endow lithium-sulfur batteries with broad application prospects.However,many drawbacks,especially the detrimental shuttle effect,have hindered the further development of LSBs.In response,a lot of new structures have been applied to suppress the shuttle effect and promote the development of LSBs.Recently,vacancy engineering has gained the attention of researchers due to its unique electronic structure.This review aims to analyze the application of vacancy engineering in LSBs.Firstly,the electrochemistry of LSBs has been systematically discussed and the existing challenges as well as improvement tactics of LSBs have also been presented.Subsequently,the preparation methods and characterization technologies of various vacancies are summarized,including oxygen vacancies,sulfur vacancies,selenium vacancies,other anion vacancies,cation vacancies,etc.The latest applications of vacancy engineering in LSBs are also summarized in this review.Finally,some prospects and insights for further investigation and practical application of vacancy engineering in LSBs are put forward.
