In this paper, we inv.stigated the Oceanic Niño Index (ONI), for simplicity called in this paper an El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) index in 1950-2023 by applying the wav.let spectral transform and the IBM SPSS correlations analysis. ONI follows the three months’ current measurements of the av.rage temperature of the sea surface in the East-Central tropical part of the Pacific Ocean nearby the international line of the date change ov.r the av.rage sea surface temperature ov.r the past 30 years. The ENSO index is found to hav. a strong (>87%) correlation with the Global Land-Ocean Temperature (GLOT). The scatter plots of the ENSO-GLOT correlation with the linear and cubic fits hav. shown that the ENSO index is better fit by the cubic polynomial increasing proportionally to a cubic power of the GLOT v.riations. The wav.let analysis allowed us to detect the two key periods in the ENSO (ONI) index: 4 - 5 years and 12 years. The smaller period of 4.5 years can be linked to the motion of tectonic plates while the larger period of 12 years is shown to hav. a noticeable correlation of 25% with frequencies of the underwater (submarine) v.lcanic eruptions in the areas with ENSO occurrences. Not withholding any local terrestrial factors considered to contribute to the ENSO occurrences, we inv.stigated the possibility of the v.lcanic eruptions causing ENSO to be also induced by the tidal forces of Jupiter and Sun showing the correlation of the underwater v.lcanic eruption frequency with the Jupiter-Earth distances to be 12% and with the Sun-Earth distances, induced by the solar inertial motion, in January, when the Earth is turned to the Sun with the southern hemisphere where the ENSO occurs, to become 15%. Hence, the underwater v.lcanic eruptions induced by tidal forces of Jupiter and Sun can be the essential additional factors imposing this 12 year period of the ENSO (ONI) index v.riations.

It is not well known how low temperatures, like a subarctic steppe–tundra climate, influence reproductiv. traits of ectothermic v.rtebrates. To begin answering this question, we studied male and female reproductiv. systems of Salamandrella keyserlingii inhabiting a Tomsk population（southeast of Western Siberia）, Russia, in ecological and physiological terms. In males, before spermiation, the testicular size and weight in late April–early May were greatest of all. Spermiation occurred during breeding immigration in spring when mean air temperature was abov. 10°С, and at the same time rain fell. After spermiation, the testicular size and weight decreased sharply, and the diameter of the v.sa deferentia increased. ＂Spawning＂（i.e., simultaneous extrusion of sperm and ov.position） occurred from late April to late May, and this duration fluctuated in temperature and humidity. The testicular size and weight increased in summer. Sperm mass was detected in the testes by the smear method in April–September, except in June when single fragmented unrealized sperm was detected and in July when spermatids were detected. In females, ov.rian weight was greatest in spring before ov.lation. From late June, v.tellogenesis began in ov.rian follicles, in which mint green yolks accumulated. Melanin deposited in the surface of the ov.ry from July when ov.ducts were hypertrophying. In contrast, some large-sized females did not show any sexual maturity shortly before hibernation（although these females may be subadults）. These results suggest that low temperatures in Siberia induce early timing of gamete maturation in females, but the females＇ reproductiv. cycle might also be biennial. A reproductiv. cycle in males was annual with the completion of the gamete maturation process in August.

This paper deals with a new integrated method of reconstruction and forecasting of climatic changes in future. The method is based on proxy data pollen-spore analysis method, 14C analysis method, nowadays meteorological data, and data about of solar activ.ty expressed in numbers of W （Wolf）. Here we present the results of inv.stigation of sediments of the 2nd Fomich Riv.r terrace, Taymyr Peninsula, Russia. The formation of the peat bog started 10500 ± 140 years BP and continued during the entire Holocene. The pollen analysis of the sediment samples of the 2nd Fomich Riv.r terrace and the analysis of surface samples from a larch forest, typical of this region, rev.als two phytochrones： both climatically preconditioned--tundra phytochrone （I1-4） and forest phytochrone （Ⅱ1-4）. The techniques of reconstruction and forecasting of basic elements of climate are presented and discussed in details.

This paper explores the links between terrestrial temperature, sea lev.ls and ice areas in both hemispheres with solar activ.ty indices expressed through av.raged sunspot numbers together with the summary curv. of eigenv.ctors of the solar background magnetic field (SBMF) and with changes of Sun-Earth distances caused by solar inertial motion resulting from the grav.tation of large planets in the solar system. Using the wav.let analysis of the GLB and HadCRUTS datasets two periods: 21.4 and 36 years in GLB, set and the period of about 19.6 years in the HadCRUTS are discov.red. The 21.4-year period is associated with v.riations in solar activ.ty defined by the summary curv. of the largest eigenv.ctors of the SBMF. A dominant 21.4-year period is also reported in the v.riations of the sea lev.l, which is linked with the period of 21.4 years detected in the GLB temperature and the summary curv. of the SBMF v.riations. The wav.let analysis of ice and snow areas shows that in the Southern hemisphere, it does not show any links to solar activ.ty periods while in the Northern hemisphere, the ice area rev.als a period of 10.7 years equal to a usual solar activ.ty cycle. The TSI in March-August of ev.ry year is found to grow with ev.ry year following closely the temperature curv., because the Sun mov.s closer to the Earth orbit owing to grav.tation of large planets (solar inertial motion, SIM), while the v.riations of solar radiation during a whole year hav. more steady distribution without a sharp TSI increase during the last two centuries. The additional TSI contribution caused by SIM is likely to secure the additional energy input and exchange between the ocean and atmosphere.

We present simulation results on ev.lution dev.lopment of orbital motion of short-period comets with the rev.lution period not exceeding 6-7 years, namely comets 21P/Giacobini-Zinner, 26P/Grigg- Skjellerup and 7P/Pons-Winnecke. The calculations cov.r the range from the date of the object＇s discov.ry to 2100. v.riations in the objects＇ orbital elements under the action of grav.ty disturbances, taking Earth＇s grav.tational potential into account when the small body approaches, are analyzed. Corrected dates of peri- helion passages can be used for scheduling observ.tions.

Bartonella infection in asymptomatic horses and donkeys from Tuscany,Central Italy

Objectiv.: To inv.stigate the occurrence of Bartonella sp. infection in asymptomatic horses and donkeys liv.ng in Tuscany, Central ***: Blood samples were collected from 77 horses and 15 donkeys and tested by indirect immunofluorescent test to detect antibodies against Bartonella sp. and by PCR to detect the ***: Fifty-four(58.69%; 95% CI: 47.95%–68.87%) animals, 9 donkeys and 45 horses, were seropositiv. with antibody titers ranging from 1:64 to 1:512. PCR assays detected 9 horses positiv. for Bartonella sp. and 3 donkeys for Bartonella henselae genotype ***: The detected sero-prev.lence suggests a common and frequent exposure of equids liv.ng in Central Italy to bartonellae and PCR results show that Bartonella *** is possible both in horses and donkeys. At the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of Bartonella henselae infection in donkeys.

Cadmium-induced DNA degradation in gill cells of the scallop Mizuhopectenyessoensis was assessed using the comet assay （single-cell gel electrophoresis）. Accumulation of highly toxic cadmium in the gill cells of biv.lv. is accompanied by the damage of the cell genome rev.aled as DNA migration in the comet assay. The main mechanisms of Cd effects on the integrity of the DNA structure are discussed.
