The microstructure and corrosion behavior of as-cast and friction stir processed in-situ Al-TiB2 based composite in 3.5 wt.% sodium chloride solution were investigated. The microstructure was characterized using X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy and electron backscattered diffraction technique while corrosion behavior was evaluated using linear/cyclic potentiodynamic, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and AsTM–G67 tests. The composite contains sub-micron TiB2 particles in an aluminum matrix with both blocky and fine clusters of Al3Ti agglomerated around TiB2 and displays a low uniform corrosion rate. It is also resistant to pitting as substantiated by the absence of a positive loop in cyclic potentiodynamic tests. This is due to the non-conductive nature of TiB2 particles and a controlled amount of blocky Al3Ti phase. However, both friction stir processed and as-cast composites are susceptible to inter-granular corrosion where Al3Ti and TiB2 at grain boundaries.p.ovide initiation sites for corrosion. Electrochemical impedance study attributes this to the adverse effect of Al3Ti and TiB2 on the protective oxide surface film, which increases with immersion time.

The available models for eff ective periods of site and structure are reviewed in context of frequency tuning in the inelastic seismic response of soil-structure system. The eff ect of seismic intensity and ductility demand, on the eff ective periods, is investigated, and inelastic site amplifi cation is shown to be strongly correlated to the normalized eff ective period. Two non-dimensional parameters, analogous to the conventional site amplifi cation factors in codes, are defi ned to quantify the inelastic site amplifi cation. It is shown that the inelastic site amplifi cation factor (i.e. ratio of constant ductility spectral ordinates at soil site to those at rock outcrop) is able to represent the site eff ects more clearly, as compared to the inelastic site amplifi cation ratio (i.e. ratio of inelastic spectral ordinates at soil site to the corresponding elastic spectral ordinates at rock outcrop). Further, the peak in the amplifi cation factor corresponding to the eff ective site period diminishes rapidly with increasing ductility demand.

Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is a chronic condition characterized by immune-mediated inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract,which follows a relapsing and remitting *** from affecting the gastrointestinal tract,IBD also has extra-intestinal manifestations(EIMs).While the etiology of extraintestinal manifestation remains unclear,it is theorized to be based on immunological responses influenced by genetic *** involvement is one of the EIMs observed in ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s *** renal manifes-tations in IBD patients encompass a range of conditions including nephrolithiasis,amyloidosis,tubulointerstitial nephritis,glomerulonephritis(GN),obstructive pathologies,and chronic kidney disease(CKD).The incidence of CKD in IBD patients varies from 5%-15%.The decline in renal function can stem from various factors such as direct inflammatory damage to the kidneys leading to glomerular or tubular injury,or from complications like recurrent stones,amyloidosis,or ***,nephrotoxic medications used in treating IBD,such as TNF-αinhibitors,calcineurin inhibitors,and aminosalicylates,can exacerbate the decline in renal ***,there is a lack of consensus regarding these patients'screening and renal function *** review aims to assess the existing literature on the different renal complications among individuals with IBD,shedding light on their pathophysiology and management.

The present study was carried out in Tungnath alpine meadows of Kedarnath Wild Life sanctuary, Western Himalaya from subalpine to upper alpine zone. A total of four summits were selected along an altitudinal gradient and sampled for detailed vegetation analysis using multi summit approach as.p.r Global observation research initiative in alpine environments(GLORIA). species richness, diversity, and evenness among four summits as well as the interaction between environmental variables with plant communities were assessed. Monthly mean soil temperature was calculated using data retrieved from geo-precision temperature logger in order to identify the trend of soil temperature among different season and altitudinal gradient and its implications to plant communities. soil samples were analyzed fromeach summit by collecting randomized composite soil samples. The indirect non-metric multidimensional scaling(NMDs) and direct canonical correspondence analysis(CCA) tools of ordination techniques to determine the linkage between plant species from various sample summits and biotic/abiotic environmental gradients were used in the present study. The results of the study demonstrated increase in species richness as soil temperature increases, the ecotone representing summits were found most warm summits followed by highest species richness. Annual soil temperature increased by 1.43°C at timberline ecotone. Whereas, at upper alpine zone the soil temperature increased by 0.810 C from year 2015 to 2016. s?rensen's similarity index was found to be increased between subalpine and upper alpine zone with increase in the presence of subalpine plant species at upper alpine zone. Both the ordination tools s.p.rate the subalpine summit and their respective vegetation from summits representingtimberline ecotone and upper alpine zone. soil p H, altitude, soil cation exchange capacity were found as the key abiotic drivers for distribution of plant species.

In the present investigation an attempt has been made to demineralize the Gondwana coal of Gopinathpur top and bottom seams of Mugma mine, Raniganj coalfield, Dhanbad with the help of pseudomonas mendocina strain B6-1. The change in the amount of ash yield and decrease in the concentration of selected minor elements like Na, K, Mn and Ca and environmentally sensitive selected trace elements such as Cd, pb, se, Ni, Mn, and Zn have been studied as a function of time of bacterial treatment as well as with variation in the bacterial biomass. After 28 days of bacterial treatment there was variable amount of decrease observed in ash yield as well as in the concentration of minor and trace elements. The removal of the elements was further enhanced with the increase in the bacterial biomass from 10 to 25 mg/mL. Due to over exploitation of s.p.rior grade coals in the country, the remaining coal resources, available for current use, are inferior in grade and contain high level of impurities and there is ample scope of bio-beneficiation of these coals using bacterial biomass.

An analytical study is.p.esented on the modal dispersion characteristics, group velocity, and effective group, as well as the phase index of a ternary one dimensional plasma photonic crystal for an obliquely incident electromagnetic wave considering the effect of collisions in plasma layers. The dispersion relation is derived by using the transfer matrix method and the boundary conditions based on electromagnetic theory. The dispersion curves are plotted for both the normal photonic band gap structure and the absorption photonic band gap structure. It is found that the increase in the angle of incidence shifts the photonic band gap toward higher frequencies. Also, the cutoff frequency is independent of collisions.

Condition indices for rigid pavements: A comparative analysis of state DOTs using Michigan pMs data

pavement infrastructure is vital in providing services and links between various sectors of society. Therefore, the preservation and maintenance of these roads are critical to attaining a pavement network in good condition throughout its service life. Various.p.rformance indicators like the international roughness index(IRI), pavement condition index(pCI), and present serviceability rating(psR) have been used by the state department of transportation(DOT) and highway agencies for evaluating pavement surface conditions and planning future maintenance strategies. Limited data availability, multiple distresses depending on region, lack of correlation of these condition indices to maintenance strategies, and data collection limitations.p.se a challenge for applying these indices to local conditions. This.p.per compares condition indices of different states for rigid pavements. Further,using a specific condition index for local conditions is also highlighted. For this.p.rpose, five states and their corresponding condition indices were evaluated and compared to the Michigan DOT distress index(DI). These states include Virginia, Minnesota, North Dakota, Louisiana, and Oregon. The corresponding distresses of each condition index were converted to make them compatible with the MDOT DI. This study used the MDOT's.p.vement management system(pMs) database to evaluate each condition index for 433 rigid pavement *** distress index was.p.otted against MDOT DI and compared using a paired t-test. Results show that the condition indices of Virginia and Minnesota are comparable to DI in terms of the spearman correlation value. The t-test results show that except for Virgina, condition indices from other states statistically differ from ***, one can't use those directly for local conditions in Michigan. This.p.per presents the evaluation and data requirements for each condition index and its impact on selecting a maintenance treatment.
