It is well documented that the Khondalite Belt of the North China Craton formed by the collision of the Yinshan and Ordos Blocks during ca.1.95 Ga,but the onset of the post-collisional exhumation stage has not been well *** garnetite and garnet-bearing quartz-rich lens that are regarded as residue-melt phases occur occasionally in the foliated metasedimentary rocks in the Jining terrane of the Khondalite *** are free of regional gneissosity,and may be generated during the post-collisional exhumation *** U-Pb dating,monazite chemical dating and trace element analyses of zircon,monazite and garnet have been carried out on the garnetites and associated other high-grade metamorphic *** geochronological results reveal a major age group of ca.1890 Ma from the zircon grains/overgrowths and inclusion-type monazites within the garnet poikiloblasts in the *** trace elements analyses show that zircon hosted in the mantle of the garnet poikiloblasts in the garnetite contains the highest HREE and Y contents,whereas zircon hosted in the garnet rims shows higher HREE and Y contents than matrix zircon ***-type monazite in the garnetite shows higher la/Sm ratio than matrix monazite *** garnet poikiloblasts in the garnetite exhibit bell-shaped HREE and Y zoning profiles attributed to Rayleigh fractionation during their *** to garnet poikiloblasts, coronal garnet shows higher Gro,Cr and li contents,but lower X,Sm,HREE,Zn and Zr contents and weaker Eu negative anomalies,reflecting their different formation *** on evidences from microstructural analyses,REE concentrations and patterns,HREE partition coefficients and the Tiin -zircon thermometer,it is proposed that most of the zircon grains/overgrowths in the garnetite formed coevally with garnet ***,ca.1890 Ma represents the timing of garnet poikiloblast growth during the partial melting of the *** garnet or Zn-ric

Garnetite pods containing >60 mol%garnet in association with garnet-bearing quartz-rich lenses are sporadically distributed in the Khondalite Belt,North China *** mineral assemblages and microtextures of garnetite occurring in quartzo-feldspathic sillimanite -garnet gneiss in the Xiaoshizi area allow definition of the metamorphic history of the *** of garnet poikiloblasts coupled with their enclosing and matrix minerals quartz,sillimanite, plagioclase,biotite,rutile and ilmenite defines an M assemblage consistent with partial melting and subsequent melt separation. Thermodynamic modeling of bell-shaped Ca zoning in garnet poikiloblasts confirms that this occurred during decompression.A retrograde M assemblage replacing M garnet or sillimanite is defined by two microdomains:coronas of Grt2 + Crd(M) where quartz is present,and Spl + Crd symplectite(M) where quartz is *** final metamorphic stage led to the coronal assemblage Grt3+Opx + Crd + Pl+ Bt(M) surrounding M garnet. Comparison of the observed mineral proportions and compositions with the predictions of phase equilibria modeling in the MCKFMASHTO system for the effective bulk compositions,in combination with Zr-in-rutile thermometry,results in the following P-T conditions for the metamorphic events:820-850℃(up to 950℃) and 8.5-9.5kbar for M;850-865℃and 7.4-7.6 kbar for M;710-720℃and 6.4-6.6 kbar for M3 The clockwise P-T path thus defined for M to M evolution is interpreted to reflect the onset of extension and exhumation of the Khondalite Belt at～1890 Ma,following the emplacement of S-type granitoids at～1920-1890 Ma and ultrahigh-temperature metamorphism at～1920 Ma that resulted from collision of the finshan and Ordos Blocks at～1950 Ma.

The TElOMERE REPEAT BINDING proteins TRB4 and TRB5 function as transcriptional activators of PRC2-controlled genes to regulate plant development

Plant-specific transcriptional regulators called TElOMERE REPEAT BINDING proteins(TRBs)combine two DNA-binding domains,the GH1 domain,which binds to linker DNA and is shared with H1 histones,and the Myb/SANT domain,which specifically recognizes the telobox DNA-binding site ***1,TRB2,and TRB3 proteins recruit Polycomb group complex 2(PRC2)to deposit H3K27me3 and JMJ14 to remove H3K4me3 at gene promoters containing telobox motifs to repress ***,we demonstrate that TRB4 and TRB5,two related paralogs belonging to a separate TRB clade conserved in spermatophytes,regulate the transcription of several hundred genes involved in developmental responses to environmental ***4 binds to several thousand sites in the genome,mainly at transcription start sites and promoter regions of transcriptionally active and H3K4me3-marked genes,but,unlike TRB1,it is not enriched at H3K27me3-marked gene ***,TRB4 can physically interact with the catalytic components of PRC2,SWINGER,and CURlY lEAF(ClF).Unexpectedly,we show that TRB4 and TRB5 are required for distinctive phenotypic traits observed in clf mutant plants and thus function as transcriptional activators of several hundred ClF-controlled genes,including key flowering *** further demonstrate that TRB4 shares multiple target genes with TRB1 and physically and genetically interacts with members of both TRB ***,these results reveal that TRB proteins engage in both positive and negative interactions with other members of the family to regulate plant development through both PRC2-dependent and-independent mechanisms.

The Effect of Retinoic Acid on Neutrophil Innate Immune Interactions With Cutaneous Bacterial Pathogens

Vitamin A and its biologically active derivative,retinoic acid(RA),are important for many immune ***,in particular,is essential for the development of immune cells,including neutrophils,which serve as a front-line defense against *** vitamin A deficiency has been linked to higher susceptibility to infections,the precise role of vitamin A/RA in host-pathogen interactions remains poorly ***,we provided evidence that RA boosts neutrophil killing of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA).RA treatment stimulated primary human neutrophils to produce reactive oxygen species,neutrophil extracellular traps and the antimicrobial peptide cathelicidin(ll-37).Because RA treatment was insufficient to reduce MRSA burden in an in vivo murine model of skin infection,we expanded our analysis to other infectious *** did not affect the growth of a number of common bacterial pathogens,including MRSA,Escherichia coli K1 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa;however,RA directly inhibited the growth of group A Streptococcus(GAS).This antimicrobial effect,likely in combination with RA-mediated neutrophil boosting,resulted in substantial GAS killing in neutrophil killing assays conducted in the presence of ***,in a murine model of GAS skin infection,topical RA treatment showed therapeutic potential by reducing both skin lesion size and bacterial *** findings suggest that RA may hold promise as a therapeutic agent against GAS and perhaps other clinically significant human pathogens.

The retention of dense and well-functioning microbial biomass is crucial for effective pollutant removal in several biological wastewater treatment *** solids retention is often achieved through aggregation of microbial communities into dense,spherical aggregates known as granules,which were initially discovered in the *** granules have since been widely applied in upflow anaerobic digesters for waste-to-energy ***,granular biomass has been applied in aerobic wastewater treatment and anaerobic ammonium oxidation(anammox)*** mechanisms underpinning the formation of methanogenic,aerobic,and anammox granules are the subject of ongoing *** each granule type has been extensively studied in isolation,there has been a lack of comparative studies among these granulation *** is likely that there are some unifying concepts that are shared by all three sludge *** these unifying concepts could allow a unified theory of granulation to be ***,we review the granulation mechanisms of methanogenic,aerobic,and anammox granular sludge,highlighting several common concepts,such as the role of extracellular polymeric substances,cations,and operational parameters like upflow velocity and shear *** have then identified some unique features of each granule type,such as different internal structures,microbial compositions,and quorum sensing ***,we propose that future research should prioritize aspects of microbial ecology,such as community assembly or interspecies interactions in individual granules during their formation and growth.

Purpose:To examine the effects of a school-based karate intervention on academic achievement,psychosocial functioning,and physical fitness in children aged 7-8 ***:Twenty schools in 5 different European countries(2 second-grade classrooms per school)participated in a cluster randomized controlled trial(Sport at School trial).Participants were assigned to either a control group,which continued with their habitual physical education lessons,or to an intervention group,which replaced these lessons with a 1-year karate intervention(Karate Mind and Movement program).A total of 721 children(344 girls and 377 boys,7.4±0.5 years old,mean±SD)completed the study,of which 333 and 388 were assigned to the control group and intervention group,*** included academic performance(average grade),psychosocial functioning(Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire for parents),and different markers of physical fitness(cardiorespiratory fitness,balance,and flexibility).Results:The intervention provided small but significant benefits compared to the control group for academic achievement(d=0.16;p=0.003),conduct problems(d=-0.28;p=0.003),cardiorespiratory fitness(d=0.36;plance(d=0.24;p=0.015).There was a trend towards significant benefits for flexibility(d=0.24;p=0.056).No significant benefits were observed for other variables,including psychosocial difficulties,emotional symptoms,hyperactivity/inattention,peer problems,or prosocial behaviour(all p>0.05).Conclusion:A 1-year school-based karate intervention was effective in improving academic achievement,conduct problems,and physical fitness in primary school *** results support the inclusion of karate during physical education lessons.

A predictive model for ethylene-mediated auxin and cytokinin patterning in the Arabidopsis root

The interaction between auxin and cytokinin is important in many aspects of plant *** measurements of both auxin and cytokinin concentration and reporter gene expression clearly show the coexistence of auxin and cytokinin concentration patterning in Arabidopsis root ***,in the context of crosstalk among auxin,cytokinin,and ethylene,little is known about how auxin and cytokinin concentration patterns simultaneously emerge and how they regulate each other in the Arabidopsis *** work utilizes a wide range of experimental observations to propose a mechanism for simultaneous patterning of auxin and cytokinin *** addition to revealing the regulatory relationships between auxin and cytokinin,this mechanism shows that ethylene signaling is an important factor in achieving simultaneous auxin and cytokinin patterning,while also predicting other experimental *** the mechanism with a realistic in silico root model reproduces experimental observations of both auxin and cytokinin *** made by the mechanism can be compared with a variety of experimental observations,including those obtained by our group and other independent experiments reported by other *** of these predictions include patterning of auxin biosynthesis rate,changes in PIN1 and PIN2 patterns in pin3,4,7 mutants,changes in cytokinin patterning in the pls mutant,PlS patterning,and various trends in different *** research reveals a plausible mechanism for simultaneous patterning of auxin and cytokinin concentrations in Arabidopsis root development and suggests a key role for ethylene pattern integration.
