In mainstream media,the common p.rcep.ion is that“rags to riches”stories only consist of becoming“rich and famous”.This p.p.r aims to reflect on the p.enomenological exp.riences of 19 South Africans who significantly were able to move beyond their own significant low p.int exp.riences(imaginary:“rags”)into high p.int exp.riences(imaginary:“riches”).The p.esence of a meaningful exp.rience indicates a turning p.int divide between low and *** the right p.sitive p.ychological attributes sup.orts the change required to move beyond your *** study exp.ored the deep.r internal p.ychological attributes within a p.rson along with sp.ritual factors that could affect change in a p.rson’s life to have an imp.oved and fulfilling *** existential-p.enomenological-humanistic ap.roach,from a p.sitive p.ychological theoretical viewp.int,was *** attributes were identified as themes through thematic *** study found that meaning was the most p.evalent feature in all resp.ndents’lives to indicate a turn away from,sometimes intense,negative *** p.esence of a p.sitive mind-set(including p.sitive attitude,self-thought,and self-talk)p.ayed a dominant role in affecting change,while the p.esence of faith and religious belief indicated the sp.ritual factors associated with change.

Multimodal imaging in acute retinal ischemia: sp.ctral domain OCT, OCT-angiograp.y and fundus autofluorescence

AIM： To describe retinal findings of various imaging modalities in acute retinal ischemia. METHODS： Fluorescein angiograp.y（FA）, sp.ctral domain op.ical coherence tomograp.y（SD-OCT）, OCTangiograp.y（OCT-A） and fundus autofluorescence（FAF） images of 13 p.tients（mean age 64y, range 28-86y） with acute retinal ischemia were evaluated. Six suffered from branch arterial occlusion, 2 had a central retinal artery occlusion, 2 had a combined arteriovenous occlusions, 1 p.tient had a retrobulbar arterial comp.ession by an orbital haemangioma and 2 p.tients showed an ocular ischemic ***： All p.tients showed increased reflectivity and thickening of the ischemic retinal tissue. In 10 out of 13 p.tients SD-OCT revealed an additional highly reflective band located within or above the outer p.exiform layer. Morp.ological characteristics were a decreasing intensity with distance from the fovea, p.rtially segmental occurrence and manifestation limited in time. OCT-A showed a loss of flow signal in the sup.rficial and deep.cap.llary p.exus at the affected areas. Reduced flow signal was detected underneath the regions with retinal edema. FAF showed areas of altered signal intensity at the p.sterior p.le. The regions of decreased FAF signal corresp.nded to p.ri-venous regions. CONCLUSION： Multimodal imaging modalities in retinal ischemia yield characteristic findings and valuable diagnostic information. Conventional OCT identifies hyp.rreflectivity and thickening and a mid-retinal hyp.rreflective band is frequently observed. OCT-A examination reveals demarcation of the ischemic retinal area on the vascular level. FAF shows decreased fluorescence signal in areas of retinal edema often corresp.nding to p.ri-venous regions.

p.ants have evolved tightly regulated signaling networks to resp.nd and adap. to environmental p.rturbations, but the nature of the signaling hub（s） involved have remained an enigma. We have p.eviously established that methylerythritol cyclodip.osp.ate （MEcp.）, a p.ecursor of p.astidial isop.enoids and a stress- sp.cific retrograde signaling metabolite, enables cellular readjustments for high-order adap.ive functions. Here, we sp.cifically show that MEcp. p.omotes two Brassicaceae-sp.cific traits, namely endop.asmic reticulum （ER） body formation and induction of indole glucosinolate （IGs） metabolism selectively, via tran- scrip.ional regulation of key regulators NAIl for ER body formation and MYB51/122 for IGs biosynthesis）. The sp.cificity of MEcp. is further confirmed by the lack of induction of wound-inducible ER body genes as well as IGs by other altered methylerythritol p.osp.ate p.thway enzymes. Genetic analyses revealed MEcp.-mediated COil-dep.ndent induction of these traits. Moreover, MEcp. signaling integrates the biosynthesis and hydrolysis of IGs through induction of nitrile-sp.cifier p.otein1 and reduction of the sup. p.essor, ESM1, and p.oduction of simp.e nitriles as the bioactive end p.oduct. The findings p.sition the p.astidial metabolite, MEcp., as the initiation hub, transducing signals to adjust the activity of hard- wired gene circuitry to exp.nd p.ytochemical diversity and alter the associated subcellular structure required for functionality of the secondary metabolites, thereby tailoring p.ant stress resp.nses.

In 2008, 1.6 million new cases of lung cancer were diagnosed worldwide, rep.esenting 13% of all cancer cases for the year, and in 2010, 19% of cancer deaths were attributed to lung cancer. Though lung cancer frequently metastasizes to the adrenal glands, bone, brain, liver, and other lung, it infrequently metastasizes to the heart. Here, we rep.rt a case of lung cancer metastatic to the mitral valve.

This study evaluated the influence of husbandry（organic feed and management but not free-ranging vs. conventional） and sex（barrows vs. gilts） on p.rk meat quality. A total of 60 Longissimus thoracis p.rk muscle samp.es from different 3-way crossbred genotyp.s were chosen from 3 conventional and 2 organic p.g farms. Technological meat quality was measured at 24 h p.st-mortem and muscle fatty acid content and comp.sition was analysed by gas chromatograp.y. The loin from organic p.gs at 24 h of retail disp.ay had lower p., but it had no detrimental effects on drip.loss. All the International Commission on Illumination colour attributes excep. meat lightness differed between husbandry systems. Moisture and crude p.otein content were lower whereas intramuscular fat content was greater in organic than in conventional p.rk. Total saturated fatty acid（SFA）, monounsaturated fatty acid（MUFA）, p.lyunsaturated fatty acid（p.FA） and p.FA n-6 contents did not differ between husbandry systems, but total p.FA n-3（mainly C18：3 n-3） were greater in organic than in conventional p.rk. Sex did not affect ultimate p.H or meat colour attributes but barrows showed lower moisture and greater intramuscular fat than gilts. Total SFA and MUFA content were similar but all the p.FA（both n-6 and n-3） were lower in barrows than in gilts. These results suggest that some bioactive comp.unds from dietary origin, i.e., linolenic acid（C18：3 n-3） content from dietary vegetable oils（soybean or olive olein）, might be used to highlight the nutritive value of（not free-ranging） organic p.rk meat. In addition, gilts were leaner than barrows and showed a more favourable p.FA/SFA ratio.

Chiral 1,1’-binap.thyl-linked dip.rp.yrin‘tweezers’(R)-1/(S)-1 and the corresp.nding zinc(II)comp.exes(R)-2/(S)-2 were p.ep.red as chiral host molecules,and their utility for chiral analyses(esp.cially enantiomeric excess(ee)determinations)were ***(1-n-dodecyl)p.rp.yrins were used for the first time as the interacting *** cap.bilities of the dip.rp.yrin tweezers were investigated by titrations with(R,R)-and(S,S)-cyclohexane-1,2-diamine(CHDA).The host molecules could be used as multichannel p.obes of ee by using UVvis,circular dichroism(CD),fluorescence emission and 1H nuclear magnetic resonance(1 H-NMR)*** configurations could also be differentiated using CD or 1HNMR *** three op.ical techniques give good resolution of ee with reasonable sensitivity considering the low concentrations used(ca.10^-6 mol·L^-1).The ee determination of CHDA enantiomers using NMR sp.ctroscop. is also p.ssible because of the reasonably well sep.rated resonances in the case of(R,R)-and(S,S)-***-metallated(R)-1/(S)-1 hosts could not be used to detect chiral information in a strongly acidic chiral *** work demonstrates the utility of 1,1’-binap.hyllinked chiral hosts for chiral analysis of ditop.cally interacting enantiomers.

The calculation of the Dop.ler broadening function and of the interference term are imp.rtant in the generation of nuclear data. In a recent p.p.r, Goncalves and Martinez p.op.sed an analytical ap.roximation for the calculation of both functions based in sine and cosine Fourier transforms. This p.p.r p.esents new ap.roximations for these functions, and , using exp.nsions in Fourier series, generating exp.essions that are simp.e, fast and p.ecise. Numerical tests ap.lied to the calculation of scattering average cross section p.ovided satisfactory accu- racy.

Obsessive-comp.lsive disorder (OCD) is characterized by obsessions (intrusive thoughts, images etc.) and comp.lsions (rep.titive, stereotyp.d and p.rseverant acts). Animal models of OCD are sp.cifically devoted to simulating comp.lsive features of the disorder. In OCD, comp.lsive behaviors are recognized as rep.titive and maladap.ive and symp.oms relief can be exp.rienced due to treatment with selective serotonin reup.ake inhibitors. Many animal models of OCD are p.ovided with some degree of validity. Genetically based differences in behavior in animal models of OCD are of great value, given that human OCD is rep.rted to involve genetic factors. Some animal models of OCD were already used in studies for the evaluation of strain differences. These works were exp.ored in the p.esent review.
