Rapid progression of heart failure secondary to radioactive iodine treatment of hyperthyroidism:A case report

BACKGROUND The deterioration of thyroid health is involved in the progression of heart failure(HF).This is usually a lengthy process,so there are almost no reports on its rapid *** we report a case of a young male who rapidly developed hypothyroid cardiomyopathy secondary to radioactive iodine treatment,suggesting that severe HF might occur even after a short period of *** SUMMARY A 26-year-old man was referred to our hospital for HF presenting with dyspnea on exertion and chest discomfort lasting for 1 *** received radioactive iodine treatment for hyperthyroidism 1 year ago and had an almost normal echocardiogram 6 mo *** echocardiogram and cardiac magnetic resonance(CMR)revealed left ventricle(LV)global hypokinesia and severely depressed systolic *** addition,late gadolinium enhancement indicated no obvious changes in the *** function tests showed decreased serum levels of thyroid hormone(TH)and elevated thyroid-stimulating *** on an exclusionary examination,the patient was diagnosed with hypothyroid cardiomyopathy and was started on replacement *** HF symptoms were completely relieved during the six-month follow-up,and echocardiogram and CMR revealed recovered LV size and ejection *** This report demonstrates that severe fluctuations in TH levels may lead to acute HF,which can completely recover with timely thyroid hormone *** addition,our findings highlight the importance of routinely detecting cardiac function in patients treated with radioactive iodine.

Over-sampling basis expansion model aided channel estimation for OFDM systems with ICI

The rapid variation of channel can induce the intercarrier interference in orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing （OFDM） systems. Intercarrier interference will significantly increase the difficulty of OFDM channel estimation because too many channel coefficients need be estimated. In this article, a novel channel estimator is proposed to resolve the above problem. This estimator consists of two parts： the channel parameter estimation unit （CPEU）, which is used to estimate the number of channel taps and the multipath time delays, and the channel coefficient estimation unit （CCEU）, which is used to estimate the channel coefficients by using the estimated channel parameters provided by CPEU. In CCEU, the over-sampling basis expansion model is resorted to solve the problem that a large number of channel coefficients need to be estimated. Finally, simulation results are given to scale the performance of the proposed scheme.

Readout system for ground-based tests of BGO calorimeter of DAMPE satellite

A readout system for ground-based tests of the bismuth germanium oxide(BGO) calorimeter of the Dark Matter Particle Explorer satellite is described in this *** system mainly consists of a data acquisition board with a field-programmable gate array to implement the control logic, and a graphical user interface software based on LabWindows/CVI. The system has been successfully applied in a series of ground-based environmental experiments and almost all the performance tests throughout the entire manufacturing processes. These contribute significantly to the development of the BGO calorimeter before being submitted for satellite-level integration.

Multiple sclerosis （MS） is a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disorder of the central nervous system characterized by episodic and progressive neurologic dysfunction resulting from inflammatory and autoimmune reactions. The underlying pathogenesis of MS remains largely unclear. However, it is currently accepted as a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease. Among other clinical manifestations, sexual dysfunction （SD） is a painful but still underreported and underdiagnosed symptom of the disorder. SD in MS patients may result from a complex set of conditions and may be associated with multiple anatomic, physiologic, biologic, medical and psychological factors. SD arises primarily from lesions affecting the neural pathways involved in physiologic function. In addition, psychological factors, the side effects of medications and physical symptoms such as fatigue, muscular weakness, menstrual changes, pain and concerns about bladder and bowel incontinence may also be involved. since MS primarily affects young people, SD secondary to MS may have a great impact on quality of life. Thus, maintaining a healthy sexual life with MS is an important priority. The treatment of SD requires multidisciDlinarv teamwork and coooeration amone specialists,individual patients, partners and the society.

Quantum coherence is a basic concept in quantum mechanics, representing one of the most fundamental characteristics that distinguishes quantum mechanics from classical physics. Quantum coherence is the basis for multi-particle interference and quantum entanglement. It is also the essential ingredient for various physical phenomena in quantum optics, quantum information, etc. In recent years, with the proposal of a quantum coherence measurement scheme based on a resource theory framework, quantum coherence as a quantum resource has been extensively investigated. This article reviews the resource theories of quantum coherence and introduces the important applications of quantum coherence in quantum computing,quantum information, and interdisciplinary fields, particularly in quantum thermodynamics and quantum biology. Quantum coherence and its applications are still being explored and developed. We hope this review can provide inspiration for relevant research.

In vitro antitumor effect of cucurbitacin E on human lung cancer cell line and its molecular mechanism

Cucurbitacin E(CuE) is previously reported to exhibit antitumor effect by several *** this study, CuE acted as a tyrosine kinase inhibitor interfering with the epidermal growth factor receptor/mitogen-activated protein kinase(EGFR/MAPK) signaling pathway and subsequently induced apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC) cell line *** apoptosis regulators, cleaved Caspases-3 and Caspases-9, were observed to be increased with the treatment of *** activated transcription factor STAT3 and the apoptosis inhibitor protein survivin were also observed to be *** cell cycle regulators, CyclinA2, cylinB1, CyclinD1 and CyclinE, were also investigated and the results suggested that the cell cycle was arrested at G1/G0 *** of CuE also altered the existence status of most of the participants in the EGFR/MAPK *** of EGFR enhanced significantly, leading to the alteration of members downstream, either total amount or phosphorylation level, notably,MEK1/2 and ERK1/***, the results of molecular simulation brought an insight on the interaction mechanism between CuE and *** summary, CuE exhibited anti-proliferative effect against A549 cells by targeting the EGFR/MAPK signaling pathway.

Tylorrhynchus heterochaetus is a widespread benthic polychaete worm found in coastal brackish waters of the west *** has high ecological and economic value as a biomarker of water quality and as a high-quality feed in aquaculture and fisheries and is considered a delicacy in some areas of ***,it has experienced a marked reduction in recent years due to overexploitation as well as changes in the environment and ***,to comprehensively understand its genetic background and thus provide insights for better conservation and utilization of this species,we assessed the genetic variability and demographic history of *** individuals sampled from eight locations along the coasts of southeast China and north Vietnam based on mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase I(COI)*** observed high haplotype diversity(Hd),with an average of 0.926,but relatively low nucleotide diversity(π),with a mean of 0.032 across all samples.A total of 94 polymorphic sites and 85 haplotypes were identified among 320 *** pairwise genetic distances among haplotypes ranged from 0.001 to 0.067,with the high intraspecific divergence possibly reflecting geographic isolation and gene pool *** genetic structures were revealed among the studied locations;specifically,the eight locations could be treated as six genetically different populations based on pairwiseΦST results(0.026–0.951,Psignificant pattern of isolation-by-distance was detected between the genetic and geographic distances(r=0.873,P=0.001).Three geographic lineages were defined based on phylogenetic tree and network analyses of COI *** results indicated that genetic variations mainly occurred among the three lineages(89.96%).Tests of neutrality and mismatch distribution suggested that *** underwent recent population *** results provide the first report on the genetic status of *** and will be valuable for the managem

A fibrous hypercrosslinked sorbent prepared on PP-ST-DVB matrix via post-crosslinking reaction

A fibrous sorbent possessing abundant micropore structure was firstly prepared via post-crosslinking reaction on the PP-ST-DVB original fiber. Its micromorphology and sorptive properties were investigated, and the results demonstrated that the novel fibrous hypererosslinked sorbent has narrow pore-size distribution, small average porous radius （1.90 nm）, high specific surface area （362.31 m^2/g）, and fine sorptive properties for small organic molecules.

Predicting coal mining faults using combined rock relationships

By studying different compressive strengths and changes in the characteristics of rocks,five variables were selected to predict faults in coal mines. Drillholes in the mined area were divided into two populations, i.e., drillholes containing faults and drillholes without faults. Discriminant functions were established from the values of the five variables using Fisher's approach. Drillholes in the non-mined areas were allocated to one of the two populations by using discriminant functions. The terrenes of each drillhole were divided into 10 sections, above and below a minable coal seam. Each section has 10 layers of rocks. The population to which each drillhole in a section belongs is sorted out and the probability of each drillhole with faults obtained,i.e., a contour map of predicting the probability of faults in coal mining is shown. A comparison with the real distribution of faults shows that the precision of accurately predicting faults is greater than 70 per cent.
